Guide single – "an unreleased gem"
The
TV Guide mini-CD of an unreleased version of ‘Young and Beautiful’,
from the movie Jailhouse Rock, is a true delight.
Elvis
is touchingly romantic, and this version is in beautiful binaural
sound (same mastering as the ‘Close Up’ box-set). This take
includes some nice piano work from Dudley Brooks, listen for
unusual jazz-riff at 0.40.

the end a focussed Elvis says, “Let’s just make one more,
then play the last two & decide between them.” This version
must be Take 11, since Elvis then starts snapping his fingers
and goes into a little "No,No,No ree-pee-pee” scat which you
can also hear at the start of take 12. (This intro is also
featured on ‘Essential Elvis Vol.1’)

bonus is the TV guide exclusive Elvis website which loads
if you play this enhanced CD single on your computer.
This offers you Trivia challenge, 10 Elvis songs, Photo
galleries (including "exclusive behind-the-scenes photos

It
also displays some great Elvis images as the single plays -
very neat indeed! It seems a little unfair that this marketing
gimmick is not available worldwide. Do try and get yourself
a copy.
