'Elvis UK 33 ⅓ r.p.m. Volume 2' New Book: Elvis UK's John Townson & Gordon Minto are delighted to announce the publication of their latest book, 'Elvis UK 33 ⅓ r.p.m. Volume 2: The Ultimate Guide To Elvis Presley’s British LPs 1962-1968' which will be available to buy from Saturday 14 November 2026, priced at £46.
To recap: each of the books in this new series is in response to those who have repeatedly requested that the authors revise their original book Elvis UK (published in 1987), and its follow up, Elvis UK2, self-published in 2002. This new series focuses on the biggest section of those two books - the UK LPs - and will run to five volumes - a clear indication of how much detail and new material has gone into each book.
So, what can you expect to find in this book?
Basically, it follows on from what went before!  However, remember: it is not a discography (i.e. a simple list of releases), as is commonly understood, and nor is it simply a collection of record labels, album covers and other illustrations.  It is much more than that.
Instead, it is an in-depth narrative account of every album and the story behind it, providing  the definitive history of - and guide to - Elvis’s UK album releases.  This second volume in the series - covering RCA albums issued between late 1962 and mid-1968 - picks up where volume 1 ended and runs for 318 pages.  It includes:
•  Details of every individual album release from RCA’s reissue of Elvis (Rock ‘N’ Roll No. 2) in December 1962, and Elvis’s last film soundtrack album of the 1960s, Speedway, issued in August 1968, plus some uniquely UK albums
•  A discussion of each LP - dealt with separately in forensic detail - including details of all the tracks included plus a swathe of never-before-seen background information, plus illustrations
•  Carefully cross-referenced information relating to earlier albums (and later) re-issues, where appropriate
•  A full song index, including modes, recording venues, take numbers and writers’ information
• Many high-quality illustrations, photographs, plus a fascinating range of relevant memorabilia drawn from a host of sources, including record companies, along with detailed discussions around a host of related topics, such as songwriters, bonus songs etc.
• Images of both sides of all known label and sleeve variations - including a detailed explanation of the rationale behind each of them, along with key features to aid identification - a must for those who collect variations
• Details of label combinations, production errors, and other fascinating oddities that continue to delight collectors!
In short, this series aims to be the most comprehensive work ever undertaken on the subject.  If you are familiar with previous Elvis UK books, then this volume should appeal to you also!

ELVIS #4 Highest Paid Dead Celebrity 2026: Forbes annual list of the highest earning deceased celebrities for 2026 has been released - and without even leaving his secret hideaway ELVIS is back up at fourth place!
Culture critic Chuck Klosterman noted “Dying is the only thing that guarantees a rock star will have a legacy that stretches beyond temporary relevance.”
In 2026 the top ten is similar to previous years but with new entries Quincy Jones and of course Dolly Parton. Actress Diane Keaton is also a new entry.

The surprise this year is Quincy Jones topping the list with $150 Million  due to the sale of his music catalog plus the 10% producer royalty payout boosted by the biopic 'Michael'. He even beats Jackson himself.
At second place is Michael Jackson with $140 Million which included a 25% profit participation stake from the 'Michael' biopic.
Dr. Seuss is as always doing well at #3 earning a cool $80 Million.
Elvis is back up to fourth place with $75 Million (up from last year's $17 Million) including box office earnings from 'EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert'.
Dolly Parton (RIP) earned $46 Million including the tourism at Dollywood and ongoing retail brand licensing and the increase in music royalties.
Who knew that Diane Keaton at #8 would earn $22 Million from brand endorsements and estate image rights.
Since 2001 when Forbes started the list Elvis has never been outside the top 10 and from 2001 - 2005 he was No. 1.

TOP TEN 2026
1. Quincy Jones $150 Million
2. Michael Jackson    $140 Million
3. Dr. Seuss $80 Million
4. Elvis Presley $75 Million
5. Dolly Parton  $46 Million
6. Bob Marley  $25 Million
7. Prince  $24 Million
8. Diane Keaton  $22 Million
9. John Lennon  $18 Million
10. George Harrison  $15 Million

In the past 25 years Elvis has earned a total of $1.2 Billion!

So while ELVIS may have "left the building" he is still an economic powerhouse this year generating $17 million in income 48 years after his death.

As Gore Vidal once noted, "Death is a good career move"!

As we head for the 2027 50th anniversary of Elvis' tragic demise do fans get the feeling that bootleg and public domain labels are releasing anything just to earn some final bucks?
'How The Web Was Woven' New Import: From Panther records.. Elvis' legendary July 15, 1970 rehearsal on a deluxe 3-panel 2-CD Set! With better sound and more complete than ever before!
And limited as usual: only 200 copies! Get it while you still can!
On July 15, 1970, Elvis stepped onto MGM Sound Stage 1 for a high-stakes rehearsal session that would alter the course of his live performance career.
For decades, the historical value of this session was marred by notoriously poor audio quality. Now, thanks to a brand new exhaustive audio restoration the recordings on these tapes sound better than ever. For the first time, listeners can experience a crisp separation and booming low-end of a session that penultimates in one of the most intimate, breathtaking moments in the Presley canon: a solo piano performance of “How the Web Was Woven”, which has Elvis vocal restored as it had previously been buried and was barely audible.

More News from earlier last week...

New book announced - "Elvis Through the Eyes of A Fan: With A Walk Down Memorabilia Lane" (Robert Foley): "The King's Court" has announced that Bob Foley, author of "Elvis in Minnesota" has written a new book which he hopes to have released around Christmas.

Given how good "Elvis in Minnesota" was, this new book should be a great release.

The book is described as: 'A personal look through a fan's perspective combined with a walk down "memorabilia lane," featuring private collections, unseen photos, scarves, and a dedicated section on fan clubs like The King's Court of New York City.'
For more information and an inside look - Check out this YouTube clip

It could be an interesting time for memorabilia fans as the Stephen Shutts-Lyndell Morris "limited edition" 'Elvis Presley Memorabilia From Private Collections Around the World' book is also due out this year.

"ELVIS" is back in Madison Square Garden!: In a fabulous show of appreciation about one of his major influences Harry Styles dressed up as Elvis at the penultimate night of his famous "Harryween" Halloween concerts at Madison Square Garden last night - and Riley Keough was there to watch!
Styles arrived on stage wearing a custom, heavily bedazzled 'Aloha' white jumpsuit with flared pants and blue cape.
He surprised everyone with his neat homage to Elvis' iconic persona - knee bent, cape-out-stretched - to open night 29 of his 30-day residency at Madison Square Garden, where 11.5 million fans signed up for tickets. He however kicked off with, not an Elvis song, but Shania Twain's "You're Still the One".
Adding to the fascination Elvis' granddaughter Riley Keough was spotted watching the performance from the audience alongside Harry's fiancée, Zoë Kravitz.
Did Riley know he was going to be wearing the Elvis Aloha suit or had Zoë Kravitz kept it secret?
Harry Styles has always stated that he was an Elvis fan and even auditioned for the role of Elvis in Baz Luhrmann's biopic however as Styles was already a recognisable major pop-star Luhrmann wanted to go with someone less well-known.
Styles has always acknowledged his love of Elvis, noted that Elvis was a major influence on his music and performances and has dressed "Elvis Style" on previous occasions. He grew up listening to Elvis and used to sing Elvis songs on a karaoke machine as a kid.
Styles explained, “Elvis was probably the first person I knew besides my family when I was a kid. I thought there was something incredibly sacred surrounding him, so I thought I should try to get the part in the biopic.”

EIN Exclusives and News highlights from earlier in October ...

'Scotty Moore - The Guitar Player Who Changed The World' New Book: Prolific Elvis author Paul Belard has just released his latest book.
... Scotty Moore, with Elvis Presley and Bill Black, created the legendary Sun sound and they were instrumental in the creation of rockabilly, then rock and roll. Scotty’s playing did not compete with Elvis’ voice. It gave the voice a musical world in which to exist. His guitar could drive the rhythm, answer Elvis’ vocal phrases, introduce a song, create tension or simply provide the space in which Elvis could let loose. The guitar was not an accessory to the performance, it was part of its architecture.
Focusing on one of the unsung heroes behind popular music as we know it, this 344-page softcover features some fascinating information and "very rare" photos about the life of Scotty Moore (the man behind "The Guitar that Changed the World").
There is a lot to take in from this book, particularly how Scotty and Bill (Black) were treated contractually and the "background" role of Colonel Tom Parker.
How important was Scotty Moore (and Bill Black) to Elvis' early success?
Paul Belard's release makes a very clear point on this issue!
EIN considers "Scotty Moore The Guitar Player Who Changed The World", one of the best and most thought-provoking Elvis related books of 2026!

'Elvis Dressed To Rock’ vs ‘The Jumpsuit Anthology’ Book Review: It was a real surprise when in August this year, two deluxe “EPE authorised” hardback books about Elvis’ jumpsuits and fashion were released within two weeks of each other.
Both of these new ‘EPE authorised’ books 'Elvis Dressed To Rock’ and ‘The Jumpsuit Anthology’ are competing for the same market, both are extremely enjoyable in many ways as an overall look at Elvis' beautiful jumpsuits and are a delight to browse through - but unfortunately both fail to be the top-notch book that are all fans are hoping for.
What do each offer and how do they differ?
Go here as EIN's Piers Beagley compares both books against each other so that hopefully you can make the correct decision about which one to purchase.

Anthropic Sued by ABG for Using Elvis Music: US A.I. company Anthropic has been sued by the owners of Elvis Presley‘s music ABG for allegedly utilizing his songs to train AI models without permission
Billboard noted that the suit was filed Friday and claims the company infringed 274 Elvis songs including 'Can’t Help Falling in Love,' 'A Little Less Conversation', 'Return to Sender', 'All Shook Up', 'Don’t Be Cruel'.

“The Elvis Plaintiffs bring this action to enforce these exclusive rights against the defendant that has built its entire business model based on copyright infringement at a scale never seen before,” wrote lead attorney Richard Busch. “The Elvis Plaintiffs are deeply protective of these iconic songs.”
Authentic Brands Group, which owns the rights to Presley, filed the lawsuit alongside other entities that also own rights to the 'Jailhouse Rock' singer, according to Billboard.
“‘Claude’ (AI assistant built by Anthropic) has created infringing output of copyrighted material of virtually every song from every catalog available on the internet, including the Works,” the lawsuit states.
“Even after the Defendant supposedly put up ‘guardrails’ after being sued, in one of its latest iterations, Claude continues to infringe: when recently asked to recreate specific songs ‘for a modern audience,’ Claude did so and admitted: ‘These renders keep landing very close to the originals: same structure, same hooks reused with light rewording, and full sets of verses/choruses/bridges. That’s edging past ‘inspired by’ into reproducing the copyrighted song, even when the words are swapped out.’”

In August, American music publishing company Round Hill sued Suno and Anthropic, claiming mass copyright infringement. They alleged the AI companies used hundreds of the publisher’s songs to train their AI models without permission.
Anthropic was also previously sued by Universal Music Publishing, Abcko, Concord and BMG for similar claims of lyrics being utilized to train Claude, an AI agent
Rolling Stone reports that the ABG suit is seeking $150,000 per infringed song.

Duke Bardwell passed away: TCB bassist Duke Bardwell passed away, Tuesday October 20 at the age of 83.
It was through his friend Ronnie Tutt that he auditioned for and joined the TCB Band in 1974, replacing Jerry Scheff's fill-in Emory Gordy.
Bardwell played 181 shows with Elvis between January 1974 till  April 1975.
The website 30A Songwriter Radio posted a lovely, lengthy tribute including...
... Duke Bardwell was born on August 19, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a city surrounded by some of the richest musical traditions in the United States.
Louisiana’s musical identity has always been difficult to contain within a single category. Country music, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, gospel, and rock and roll developed alongside one another, often influencing the same musicians.
Duke grew up immersed in that environment. His father played trombone in swing orchestras, and music became part of Duke’s life at an early age.
He began learning instruments while still young, eventually becoming proficient on guitar and bass. That versatility would become one of the defining qualities of his career.
In the 1960s, Duke performed with regional groups, including the Dixie Crystals and the Greek Fountains. Those formative years placed him in the working-musician tradition, where performers learned to listen, adapt, and deliver night after night.

Duke’s experiences as a musician also became the subject of the documentary Duke & The King.
The film explores the musician’s life and his years working with Elvis Presley, while bringing attention to the broader career and personal history that might otherwise be overshadowed by his association with one superstar.

The Elvis years were remarkable, but Duke lived an entire musical life before and after them.
He experienced the changing sounds of American popular music. From Baton Rouge to Las Vegas, from the stage with Elvis Presley to the intimate music rooms of South Walton, Duke Bardwell lived an extraordinary musical life.
He leaves behind recordings, performances, friendships, and a history that reaches well beyond any single artist or band. His contributions to American music deserve to be remembered.
Rest in peace, Duke Bardwell.
The songs remain. The memories remain. And the music plays on.

'ELVIS – At Home in Germany' CD Review: From JAS Records (International) the mid-price 'ELVIS – At Home in Germany' Selected Home Recordings 1958–1959' "From Mono > Stereo"
A rare and intimate portrait of Elvis Presley captured at home, off duty, and at his most spontaneous.
A remarkable collection of private home recordings, away from the spotlight, Elvis used a reel-to-reel tape recorder during his off-duty hours to capture informal, spontaneous performances.
These intimate recordings offer a unique glimpse of the artist simply singing for pleasure — relaxed, unguarded and completely in the moment.
Producer Anthony Stuchbury has further enhanced the listening experience while still retaining their intimate character.

In a recent interview with Anthony Stuchbury about his work on the FTD 'Soldier Boy' deluxe set, I asked him whether he might be able to release a stereo compilation of the best home-recordings - and My Wish Came True!
EIN's Piers Beagley checks out this new 14-track CD set.

'RCA Victor Announces Elvis' New Book: The Elvis Files Erik Lorentzen has announced the December 2026 release of his new 450-page book 'RCA Victor Announces Elvis' by Gaston Sanchez, Adam Greenaway and Erik Lorentzen.
Lorentzen posted, "After all the books I have worked on over the years, 'RCA Victor Announces Elvis' is undoubtedly one of the projects I have enjoyed the most.
Working alongside two passionate Elvis fans and collectors, Adam and Gaston, it has been a genuine pleasure to watch this book take shape from day one. Their enthusiasm, knowledge, understanding and dedication to the project have been a joy to witness. It is rare to see such passion and commitment, and being part of this journey with them has been a truly rewarding experience.
'RCA Victor Announces Elvis' is far more than just another book about Elvis. It is an important historical document that explores Elvis's record releases during his early years with RCA Victor, capturing a significant chapter in the history of the King of Rock ’n' Roll.
For the many serious Elvis record collectors around the world, I believe this book will be an extraordinary treasure. It brings together important historical information and a level of detail that makes it a valuable addition to any serious Elvis collection. Beyond its importance to collectors, it also helps preserve a part of Elvis's musical legacy for future generations.
I am genuinely proud to have contributed to this publication, and equally proud to be part of a trio that has put so much time, effort and passion into creating what I believe is a true masterpiece.
'RCA Victor Announces Elvis' is a testament to what can be achieved when knowledge, dedication and a shared love of Elvis come together.

(Box Set Review) “Elvis Presley Soldier Boy 53 310 761”: This is the latest multimedia box set from FTD. Housing in a sturdy slipcase the set comprises two books and four CDs.
Elvis’ Army period is particularly important because it gave Col Parker “fresh air” in which to start transitioning Elvis from the rebellious scandalous King of Rock and Roll to the boy next door/all American male…
The narrative is presented in chronological (day-by-day) order neatly interspersing David English’s erudite writing with photos, archival material, and first-hand accounts by those close to Elvis. Across more than 500 pages in two books, there is an incredible amount of information, both narrative and visual, to savor and digest.
This was an incredibly important period in Elvis’ life. There was a real possibility that his career peak was over and that the public’s interest might fade away...
EIN’s Nigel Patterson read the books and Piers Beagley listened to the music. In their joint review they reveal what the set offers (a lot), its highlights (there are many), and one unfortunate issue. Read EIN’s review

2026 - Ron Brandon Elvis In Tupelo Interview: Ron Brandon was the 17 year-old radio engineer for Tupelo's WTUP station who actually recorded the interviews and the famous performance.
Our Elvis legacy would be less rich had he not done so - and he even sent Elvis a personal copy!

It was back in 2009 that EIN first connected with Ron Brandon and years later he would publish his fascinating book 'Disc Jockeys, Preachers, and Elvis'.

It's great to know that Ron Brandon is alive and well - and presumably now the only person still alive who was technically involved in Elvis' stunning 1956 Tupelo concert.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of this historic event EIN's Piers Beagley recently spoke to Ron Brandon to see how things are going for him in 2026. - Read the delightful interview here.

EIN spotlight 'Elvis Tupelo Homecoming 1956': Seventy years ago today - 26 September 1956 - one of the key performances in Elvis' historic legacy when he returned to his hometown.

On September 23 1956, with the filming of 'Love Me Tender' completed, Elvis returned to Memphis. On Wednesday 26 September 1956 Elvis, along with friends Nick Adams and Barbara Hearn, drove down to Tupelo for a home-town appearance at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy show.

Elvis performed two special concerts that day - luckily recorded by WTUP engineer Ron Brandon - there was an official proclamation of 'Elvis Presley Day' and for the evening concert the Mississippi National Guard was called in to help keep fans in order.

(Book Review) Memories of Maureen & our links to Tupelo: Maurice Colgan, a name that will be familiar to many Elvis fans, has released his memoir.

..."From Ireland to Memphis, Colgan recounts uncanny encounters, personal loss, artistic passion, and the remarkable journey that led to a bronze statue of Elvis as a boy standing near his birthplace in Tupelo."

EIN’s Nigel Patterson spent an enjoyable afternoon reading about Maurice and Maureen’s many adventures, a mix of Elvis and non-Elvis related stories.

From the “Elvis at 13” statue in Tupelo (masterminded by Maurice) and interactions with Elvis world luminaries to drug dealers, a ‘blood soaked’ night in a Manchester city pub and President Bill Clinton, there is much to savour in Maurice’s engaging and wide-ranging book.

How Elvis Presley Got "THAT WAY" EIN Spotlight: Another brilliant article of-its-time from Lowdown magazine - and at last EIN can reveal "The facts they dare not tell you"!
The front cover featured an interesting array of stars, from Elvis to James Dean, Billie Holiday and UK's Diana Dors.
From the January 1957 issue, the front cover noted
- - - - How Elvis Presley Got "THAT WAY"
- Was this in an African jungle? No. Was this on the grimy boards of some cheap burlesque house? No. Was this a woman and were those hips womanly hips? No.
They were the vaunted hips of a kid known far and wide as Elvis The Pelvis.

There's more to stripping than taking clothes off!
Elvis studies techniques like this and uses them!

Readers beware this is very 'adult content' :-) but it helps explain the Elvis phenomenon!

'The Paradise Hawaiian Style Sessions' Box-Set FTD In-Depth Review: 'The Paradise, Hawaiian Style Sessions' is the 15th release in FTD’s (complete) "Sessions” series.
Newly mixed and mastered by Sebastian Jeansson and Vic Anesini, the masters and outtakes now offer superior audio to the original 1966 soundtrack album.
The 24-page booklet contains many rare photos, memorabilia, movie trivia, recording data and insightful essay.
Unfortunately all but one of these songs were vocal overdubs onto pre-recorded instrumental tracks. This could be Elvis' worst-ever recording session.
This album includes six vocal-overdub attempts on 'Queenie Wahine’s Papaya' and 9 vocal-overdub attempts at 'A Dog’s Life' - oh joy!
The delight with this new box-set has to be the official release of the 'Sand Castles' session but is there really anything else that is a worthy new addition for our collections?
EIN's Piers Beagley investigates whether collectors really need quite so many repetitive vocal-overdubs...

Audio specialist Anthony Stuchbury was involved in both with his audio restoration a major selling point.
Stuchbury has been busy all year, mastering some stunning Mono>Stereo releases as well as creating his own 'JAS' label, along with work for other labels.

EIN's Piers Beagley and Elvis Day By Day's Kees Mouwen combined forces to ask producer Anthony Stuchbury some detailed questions about his recent FTD work including, were Mono>Stereo versions discussed, his new discoveries, as well as about his various other projects... and does he think he's Indiana Jones or Sean Connery!?

Comic book writer, Austin Hamblin, talks to EIN: EIN recently published a news item about the comic book compendium, “The Twells/Hamblin Collection” (see news item below posted on Tuesday July 28).

One of the featured stories is “Welcome to Purgatorio” where the lead protagonist, Elvis Presley (now a short-order cook working for soul brother, James Brown), interrupts his cooking to track down who is behind the murders of 100 celebrities.

Despite being nearly 50 years since his tragic death, Elvis is still "everywhere" and part of modern culture..

Austin took time out to talk to us about the comic book and associated murders, umm, sorry, matters.

'ELVIS: Live At Boston Garden ‘71' CD Review: From the budget 'MRS Camden' label their new release of Elvis' classic 1971 Boston Garden performance.
The publicity notes...
.. A compelling performance from Elvis’ early 1970’s touring period, recorded in Boston on 10th November 1971. The show captures the energy and intensity of his non Las Vegas appearances, reaffirming his return to peak form.
.. Back in 2010 on the previous mono releases there was little that could be done to improve the overall original mix and the annoyingly loud distortion. However a decade later with the invention of 'DES' this is no longer the case and this all-important 1971 concert really did deserve a new remaster.
What is most impressive is that the old releases had way too much tape-overload and nasty distortion but here MRS has managed to smooth out the distortion as well as give Elvis’ voice a much richer sound. - - Get it at Amazon UK

Spotlight "ELVIS PRESLEY SPEAKS" 1956: From seventy years ago this month - another brilliant magazine of-its-time - written by Memphis Press-Scimitar journalist Robert Johnson, with photographs by Robert Williams (Memphis Commercial Appeal) printed by 'Rave Publishing'. Another of the very first magazines totally devoted to America's newest pop-sensation.

"Read his own story in his own words"

EIN looks at the later chapters where Elvis interestingly talks about recent 1956 events such as the May Las Vegas engagement, his rapid rise to stardom, his favourite musicians and even mentions his desire to record some "religious music" - he even mentions The Stamps - and this is all before he recorded the world-changing Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel.

'Elvis: The Last Concert' In-depth FTD Review: This recent 3-CD 5” digipak features the first official release of Elvis' final live performance in Indianapolis on June 26,1977.
With priority given to historical content, this audience recording has been digitally enhanced by Anthony Stuchbury to improve its many sonic deficiencies.
Elvis' final performance reminds us what a glorious musical legacy he left for us all and also that even in his final months Elvis truly cared for his fans and had a strength and aura that could never be matched. With the surprise additions of 'Release Me', 'I Can’t Stop Loving You' and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' Elvis gave it his all.
At the end with Elvis sincerely thanking all his crew, family and friends and a rousing last version of ‘Can't Help Falling In Love’ it's hard to believe he would never get back on stage.
Two additional concerts augment this 3-CD set; Oct 18, 1976 Sioux Falls and Dec 30, 1976 Atlanta. These were previously released with the 'On The Road With Elvis' Bruce Jackson book.
EIN's Piers Beagley provides an in-depth review of FTD official release of Elvis' final concert as a 3cd set.

Book Review 'Destined To Give: The Legendary Generosity of Elvis Presley': In 2020 Sally Hoedel published Destined To Die Young her first Elvis related book - followed in 2022 by 'Destined To Fly'. Ms Hoedel now finishes her Elvis trilogy with the recently published 'Destined to Give: The Legendary Generosity of Elvis Presley'.

'Destined to Give' examines the evolution of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s benevolent giving and the purpose he found by sharing much of his wealth with others. Elvis was meant to share himself with the world, even if his time was made short

Along with the well-known examples of Elvis’ generosity, the author via her thorough research has uncovered fascinating information about the disparate ways in which Elvis helped others - and the book is packed with an abundance of interesting and diverse information.
'Destined to Give' is a release which effortlessly interweaves Elvis’ biography with a primary character trait in his compassion for and helping others.
The book informs, answers, and above all, celebrates the wonderful humanity of Elvis Aaron Presley.

'Talking Elvis': EIN's spotlight 'Talking Elvis' is updated today with new reminiscences from Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page,  Ron Strauss Elvis Pilot, Memphis Sheriff Bill Morris, James Burton and Darlene Love, Tom Jones, plus Movie Producer Irwin Winkler.
Meeting ELVIS made an impression on everyone from the poorest fan to the world’s biggest superstars. Even the briefest meeting or chance encounter with Elvis created some lovely memories as well as some fascinating stories.
These smaller encounters often get lost or forgotten and sadly there are fewer and fewer people still alive who had personal encounters with our hero.
So EIN has gathered together multiple stories to help us understand and know more.
'Talking Elvis' features reminiscences from people including Pat Boone, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Paul Simon, Cliff Richard, Cher, Linda Thompson, Suzi Quatro, Riley Keough, Ernst Jorgensen, Dolly Parton, Ann-Margret, Barbara Stanwyck, Leo Sayer, Tommy Steele, Priscilla and many more...

‘Elvis Amarillo Texas - 1974’ MRS Review: MRS recently released ‘Elvis Amarillo Texas - On Tour 1974’ as a single Deluxe CD pack as well as 2LP Gatefold vinyl.
Early in his summer tour of 1974, Elvis Presley made a memorable stop in Amarillo, Texas. On June 19th, he performed for one night only at the Civic Auditorium, captivating the audience with his legendary stage presence.
This show has been newly remastered in STEREO and includes rare photographs and memorabilia that sets the scene for this event.
The front cover image is stunning and certainly raises ones hopes for an impressive performance.
Elvis performed an amazing 25 concerts in just eighteen days, he was still working hard for the money and his loving fans.
‘Live On Stage In Memphis’ was recorded only 3 months earlier so there isn’t a big change of set-list but this night Elvis added the extras ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and ‘Big Boss Man’.
EIN's Piers Beagley checks this stunning MRS audio upgrade and re-discovers Elvis' best concert from his June 1974 tour.

'EPiC Original Soundtrack' CD Review:  RCA's 'EPiC Original Motion Picture Soundtrack' was released on digital and CD back in February and on 2-LP vinyl last weekend.
Executive produced by Baz Luhrmann, the soundtrack features 27 tracks from the 'EPiC' documentary combining newly restored live performances with fresh remixes and medleys created from Elvis’ original recordings.
It is a packed 74 minutes of pure Elvis delight and this original soundtrack genuinely does follow the story-line and arc of the movie and also includes some full-length versions of Elvis’ on-stage performances that were edited for the actual film.
If the movie took you on an emotional journey then this CD is a lovely keepsake of the same trip. It truly captures the glory and power and emotion of Elvis' legacy.
The movie jumps from one performance to another with multiple edits - how does this work as a standalone CD?
There CD includes a lengthy and detailed track-list but unfortunately never notes which shows Elvis’ performances were actually taken from. - This review will hopefully reveal all.

‘Heading Down To Sunset Boulevard’ CD Review: Released by RCA / SONY on their “Sunset Boulevard” set but in poor quality and at the wrong speed, the Reel-Trax label corrected this with a neat 2-CD set released late last year. - Now also released on vinyl.
.. Elvis' August 16, 1974 RCA studio rehearsal, presented here has been carefully and newly mixed. Using the latest state-of-the-art studio technology, we have worked to create a much more balanced recording that does justice to both the musicianship and Elvis’ performance. Each song has been carefully mixed for the best presentation.
The rehearsal has also been speed-corrected, as earlier releases ran far too slow.
Being a double-CD we have also added performance highlights from Elvis' “Summer Festival” 1974 engagement.

EIN's Piers Beagley checks out whether this new import set really improves on the official RCA release - (actually yes!)

UPDATED - 'EPiC' - Elvis Presley in Concert' EIN Review: Baz Luhrmann's 'EPiC' - Elvis Presley in Concert' opens in cinemas worldwide today Feb 27, 2026. It has already received rave reviews in the general media and now EIN has a deeper look.
Director Baz Luhrmann explained.."'EPiC' is not specifically a documentary, nor a concert film: Elvis takes the audience through the journey of his life, weaving never-before-seen footage with iconic performances that have never been presented in this way, from the 1970 Vegas show, on tour in 1972 and even precious moments of the 1957 “gold jacket” performance in Hawaii.
Most importantly, Elvis will sing and tell you about his life in first person, through both classic and contemporary musical prisms.”

Directed by Baz Luhrmann and edited by Jonathan Redmond, the documentary is 96 minutes of stunning insight into Elvis the artist, caring friend and creative genius from small-town Mississippi.
Watching 'EPiC' on big screen is one of those deeply satisfying tactile experiences that can truly only be felt in your body. A great meal. A satisfying run. Swimming in warm ocean. Crisp mountain air. Playing with your puppy. Having a good buzz...

EIN's Piers Beagley and Vince Alex explain the wonder and excitement of the best Elvis documentary ever produced...

20 'EPiC' Questions with Ernst Jorgensen: At all the Australian premieres Baz Luhrmann noted that 'EPiC' - Elvis Presley in Concert' would never have been made without the work of his Editor Jonathon Redmond and "Elvis expert" Ernst Jorgensen.

EIN is certain that 'EPiC' - Elvis Presley in Concert' will be the documentary that future generations will watch to discover more about this mythical figure from the 1950s that changed the course of pop culture.

Ernst Jorgensen is credited as 'Music Consultant' for the new Baz Luhrmann film and EIN was certain that he must have been involved throughout the whole process since he was also credited in Luhrmann's ELVIS biopic.
Ernst Jorgensen kindly agreed to answer a few questions for us.

Jan 27 - 'Heartbreak Hotel '- Released 70 years ago today: Hearing Elvis' new song on the radio in Liverpool in 1956, The Beatles' John Lennon knew that Elvis' new 45rpm would change everything...
Lennon explained.. “When I first heard ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ I could hardly make out what was being said. It was just the experience of hearing it and having my hair stand on end. We’d never heard American voices sing like that, they'd always sang like Sinatra or enunciated very well.
Suddenly there’s this sort of hillbilly hiccup on tape echo and all this bluesy background stuff going on. And we didn’t know what Elvis was singing about ….. to us it just sounded as a noise that was great.”
"Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles."

'1956, Elvis Presley’s Pivotal Year': In 2011 TIME magazine featured this article by SONY/FTD's music producer and consultant Roger Semon. The article helped explain what the 2011 deluxe box-set 'Young Man With The Big Beat' was all about.
... "In the mid-1950s, the post-war Eisenhower era of social conformity in America was at its peak, and musically, the most threatening image appeared to be Bill Haley’s kiss-curl as he sang “Rock Around The Clock.” That all changed on Jan. 28, 1956, when a raw and electric Elvis Presley made his breakthrough on the CBS program Stage Show. Presley’s good looks, sensuous moves and mesmerizing voice made him a sensation overnight. But it wasn’t until a third appearance on the show that Presley truly challenged the status quo. On Feb. 11, the singer performed “Heartbreak Hotel” and by April, the single would be #1 on the Billboard chart. At last, teenagers had music of their own to swoon over while their parents continued listening to Frank Sinatra and Mario Lanza....

'Elvis Last Tours Vol.3' In-depth FTD Review: FTD's 3-CD 5”digipak 'Elvis: The Last Tours Volume 3' features recordings from six Elvis performances in April 1977, Toledo April 23, Ann Arbor April 24, Kalamazoo April 26, Milwaukee April 27, Duluth April 29 and St. Paul April 30.
By 1977 Elvis was running on low, his set-list had become stagnant and fans were lucky to hear Elvis perform any rare song in his predictable set-list.
However this late April tour found Elvis in much better form than his previous one, possibly because girlfriend Ginger Alden accompanied him - and it is notable that songs such as Polk Salad were being performed again.
‘Ann Arbor’ was one of Elvis’ best performances of 1977. It was the only time Elvis sang ‘Unchained Melody’ on this tour and it would be the last time he ever sang ‘Little Darlin’ - with both tracks featuring on Elvis’ ‘Moody Blue’ album.

'Doc Pomus Talks Elvis Presley' EIN Spotlight: If Elvis found the creative connection he needed in the 1950s with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, then upon his return from the army he found a similar connection with the composers Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman.
Jerome Felder, better known as ‘Doc Pomus’ was born in Brooklyn on June 25 1925- so this year he would have turned 100.
Elvis’ post-army creative comeback would not have had anywhere the impact without these great Doc Pomus contributions that came out as major 45rpm hits, ‘A Mess Of Blues’, ‘Surrender’, ‘His Latest Flame’, ‘Little Sister’, ‘She's Not You’, ‘Long Lonely Highway’ and ‘Viva Las Vegas’.
In 1986 EIN fan club member Mark Bingham met the great Doc Pomus at the Lone Star in Manhattan.. .
... I walked up to him and said ‘I’m told you’re Doc Pomus’.
He says ‘what about it?’
I said, I’m a huge fan of your work'.
Doc doesn’t even look up but says ‘you don’t jackshit about my work’....

Go here for this great spotlight which reminds us all of the fabulous personality that epitomised Doc Pomus - one of the greatest composers of all time...

'The Sun Singles of Elvis': In-depth Book Review: Elvis specialist Warren Schubert has published his new book via Memphis Mansion - 'The Sun Singles of Elvis – An Illustrated Guide'.
... The publicity noted
This book reveals all the secrets behind Elvis’ most iconic records: the legendary five Sun singles!
How many variations of Elvis’ legendary Sun 209 actually exist?
It includes hundreds of high-resolution photographs showing all known variations and expert analysis that separates myth from fact.

If Elvis hadn't walked into the Memphis Recording Service in mid-1953 our world might be very different today. It was his crucial SUN singles that would not only be the bedrock of his stunning legacy but the music on those fragile pieces of shellac would also go on to change the history of rock'n'roll and popular culture.

EIN's Piers Beagley spent a weekend enthralled in this beautifully presented book and found that there is far more to discover than just the examination of each variation of Elvis' SUN singles.
We guarantee it will make you want to spin your old vinyl!

'The Colonel and the King' In-Depth Book Review: Published early this month Peter Guralnick's new biography ''The Colonel and the King: Tom Parker, Elvis Presley, and the Partnership that Rocked the World' has stimulated new debate.
The publicity promised.. "a groundbreaking dual portrait of the relationship between the iconic artist and his legendary manager — drawing on a wealth of the Colonel's never-before-seen correspondence to reveal that this oft-reviled figure was in fact a confidant, friend, and architect of his client’s success.
It was a relationship founded on mutual admiration and support. From the outset, the Colonel defended Elvis fiercely and indefatigably against RCA executives, Elvis’ own booking agents, and movie moguls. But in their final years together, the story grew darker, as the Colonel found himself unable to protect Elvis from himself or control growing problems of his own."

Unfortunately it appears that in trying to "debunk the myths" and create an alternate viewpoint of Col Parker, Guralnick has ignored a large amount of known history and obfuscates the facts.
Several of Parker's major exploitations of Elvis are deliberately left out!
Why exactly would a respected writer like Guralnick do this?

EIN's Piers Beagley and Vince Alex take an in-depth look at this intriguing but also infuriating new book...

(Book Review) Elvis Presley: Walk A Mile In My Shoes (Otto Fuchs): EIN’s Nigel Patterson takes a look inside a 2023 book that slipped through the cracks and therefore the consciousness of most in the Elvis world.

The publicity notes... Elvis died on August 16th, 1977, at the age of just 42, in his Graceland mansion. His death marked something significant in the collective mind, like the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, or Martin Luther King.
Conspiracy theories took off about the circumstances surrounding his death: Was Elvis murdered by the mob? Was his death faked? Did Elvis commit suicide? Is he still alive? This book sheds new light on many of these questions, while also celebrating his music and legacy.

Book Review - 'Marion Keisker: The Woman Who First Recorded Elvis Presley': Paul Belard's latest book is a detailed account of Marion Keisker's life and her key role in the Elvis story.
"That woman was the one who had faith she was the one that pushed me... Marion did it for me" - Elvis Presley 1971
.. Marion was Sam Phillips' assistant when he established the Memphis Recording Service, and later Sun Records.
She is best remembered as the first person to record Elvis in July 1953, then encouraging Sam Phillips (numerous times) to record him "commercially", therefore playing a pivotal role in Elvis' ascent towards the pinnacle of his career.
Throughout interviews given, Marion discloses the workings of Sun Records, the sessions, Elvis' moods during those first days of his career. There is a trove of little known or unknown anecdotes many fans will delight in.
This book is a fitting and well-deserved tribute to Marion Keisker.'

Packed full of great stories, rare photos and Marion's personal recollections this is a book that any Elvis fan should enjoy.
EIN's Piers Beagley spent some quality time enjoying this very fine tribute to one of the key inspirations behind the Elvis legacy...

'From Here to the Great Unknown’ Book Review: After all the publicity and hype Lisa Marie's revealing memoir has recently been published. There is no doubt that being part of a famous family certainly does not guarantee a happy life.
As Keough explains, “The early parts of the book are mostly my mother's voice, in the tapes she speaks at length about her Graceland childhood, the death of her father, the dreadful aftermath, her relationship with her mother, her difficult teen years. She’s frank and funny about my father, Danny Keough. She talks openly about her relationship with Michael Jackson. She’s painfully candid about later drug addiction and the perils of fame…
If you have ever wondered how Lisa Marie coped with life post-Elvis or noticed those old tabloid news reports saying that she had once again “gone off the rails” or spotted the tension between her and Priscilla, the answers and much, much, more are in this stunning memoir...
While Elvis died when Lisa Marie was only 9 years old there is still plenty new to discover from this intriguing book..
EIN's Piers Beagley checks out this powerful memoir, wonders why the Australian book has been edited - and discovers the delights of the Audio-Book..

(Book Review) Elvis, Hero of the Comic Books (Nigel Patterson): Respected Elvis author and reviewer, Gordon Minto, recently put on his reviewer’s cap to take on what he rightly describes as “a strange landscape” of how Elvis is portrayed in comic books (aka sequential art), a subject, which until now, has not been well covered or understood.

The book in question, Elvis, Hero of the Comic Books, was written by EIN’s Nigel Patterson and sublimely designed by Elvis Day By Day’s, Kees Mouwen.

The book includes stunning artwork from a number of releases and an eclectic variety of Elvis related comic book ephemera.  Elvis, Hero of the Comic Books features more than 600 images!

Read Gordon’s detailed review to discover why he found the book to be “refreshingly different, extremely eye-catching, well-researched and well-written, while offering a new slant on things”.

CD Review 'The Joan Deary Tapes Vol1' - and has Ernst won the war?’: Two years ago EIN posted an article suggesting that the Elvis bootleg era was over, that FTD and Ernst Jorgensen had truly won the war.
So it was a surprise to many that a new bootleg label ‘Joan Deary Inc’ suddenly popped up two months ago promising a very similar series of releases to the Madison ‘A Legendary Performer’ set.
They promised "Unique content... with never issued before outtakes. Some very different mixes among other glorious sounding tracks. Every track comes in great sound quality and has been remastered for optimal listening pleasure..."
EIN was suspicious from the start - to be honest I saw no need to purchase this CD - but several EIN readers wanted to know more before they put down their hard earned cash.
Go here as EIN's Piers Beagley investigates to see if there is life in this new series of Elvis bootleg releases...
Please read this before ordering we've done the work so that you don't have to! Now UPDATED with YOUR comments

EIN Interview with Mike Stone: Mike Stone has had a long and successful career in athletics, in the entertainment business, as an author, sports instructor, bodyguard and personal fitness trainer.

- Meeting Elvis and Priscilla

- Elvis putting a "Hit" out on him
- Finding peace in the Philippines

EIN was delighted to be able to finally talk with the man and find out more. EIN's Piers Beagley asked the questions..

Elvis LIVE Aug 23, 1969 Album Review + Elvis Concert Review 1969: ... "The atmosphere throughout the entire hotel was nail-bitingly electric! It is difficult for me to describe and paint a true portrait of attending in person this unique occasion - Elvis' Return to Splendor LIVE in 1969 - but I'll try my best.  I want, and hope, you will understand the excitement of what has to be the pinnacle of Elvis' career to date!"
Joan Gansky was lucky because not only was she in the audience for Elvis' TV musical renaissance of the '68 NBC Special but she also saw Elvis at his most dynamic - first at his August 22nd 1969 Midnight Show and then the following night at his August 23rd Dinner Show.
Joan Gansky has written this insightful and emotional article for EIN in 2019, fifty years later, looking back at this special event from 1969 as well as providing her review of the new RCA vinyl album of the August 23rd Dinner Show.
One of EIN's most important articles we have ever published - Go here for Joan and Paul Gansky's incredible articles and exclusive photos

'What was Elvis searching for?' EIN Spotlight: The question is raised – but never answered – in the title of HBO’s recent absorbing, imperfect documentary 'Elvis Presley: The Searcher'.
At the start it seems clear what the teenage Elvis was searching for – an escape from the oblivion of poverty in the American South. Yet his quest was cultural as well as financial.
Later Elvis read obsessively, seeking out such books as The Impersonal Life, Joseph Brenner’s guide to self-discovery and Kahil Gibran’s book of fables, The Prophet. In his copy of Gibran’s tome, Elvis jotted down the line: “A singer can sing his songs but he must have an ear to receive the song”.
So what exactly was Elvis searching for? In this fascinating EIN Spotlight respected author Paul Simpson takes a close look at this all important question which, for some reason, was basically ignored in the recent HBO documentary..

Mindi Miller Interview with EIN: Mindi Miller was a working actress when she met Elvis in early 1975. She was interested in karate (she performed all her own movie stunts), exploring spirituality and the Bible and so they had a lot in common.
Mindi Miller and Elvis bonded over their common interests and soon afterwards he asked her to go on tour with him in April 1975.
She stayed friends with Elvis through the years - along with members of the 'Memphis Mafia' - and attended his funeral.

EIN's Sanja Meegin recently caught up with Mindi Miller to talk about her close friendship with Elvis over the years.
In this fascinating interview she discusses. . .
- Her first night with Elvis
- How Elvis persuaded her to cancel her overseas movie & modelling plans
- Their mutual interest in Karate
- Graceland and meeting Lisa Marie
- Attending Elvis' funeral
. . . and much much more...
Go here for EIN's Sanja Meegin and her intimate and detailed discussion with the delightful Mindi Miller - Now with Reader Feedback.

'Marty Lacker: A Life Well-Lived' & Elvis at American Studio's Interview: It was with immense sadness that last month EIN had to report on the death of our great friend - and a true friend to Elvis - Marty Lacker. We will miss him dearly.
Marty is well-known as one of the key members of the Memphis Mafia and also co-Best Man at Elvis' wedding. He was known for both his honesty and being forthright with his opinions. He was the only member of the Memphis Mafia who still watched and commented on recent Elvis News. He had no issue with holding people to account (especially ones who would inflate their importance within Elvis' legacy) and would regularly ask EIN to add his comments or to correct any inaccuracy.
Elvis fans often ask about Marty Lacker's background, how he came to meet Elvis, as well as his involvement in the music industry outside of working for The King.
As a prelude to Ken Sharp's fascinating interview with Marty Lacker and a discussion about Elvis' famous American Studio' Memphis sessions, EIN presents "Marty Lacker: a life well-lived" in which Marty tells of his life in the music industry, his friendship with Elvis along with his dislike of the over-controlling Col Parker.
Go here to learn all you need to know about Marty Lacker as well as Elvis outstanding Memphis American Sound sessions in 1969.

Did Elvis Record 'Tiger Man' At Sun?: A question that has puzzled Elvis fans through the years is whether he actually recorded the song ‘Tiger Man’ during his years at SUN studios.
The basic question is why did Elvis refer to 'Tiger man' several times in concert as “The second song that I ever recorded, not too many people heard it”?
And if Elvis DID record it, then why hasn’t any reference to it at SUN or proof of its existence been found?
Elvis would first perform ‘Tiger Man’ in concert at his first 1969 Las Vegas International season and would continue playing it through the years – usually in a medley with Mystery Train - until his last performance at Saginaw on May 3 1977. He would sing it over 150 times on stage!
The thought that there might be an acetate or undiscovered tape of Elvis at SUN singing ‘Tiger Man’ is a mouth-watering concept - but is it an unlikely fantasy or strong possibility?
Go here to our detailed 'TIGER MAN' spotlight as EIN's Piers Beagley puts in the hard yards to check the facts from the fantasy .
