'Elvis: Spirit Of Jackson, MS' - FTD In-depth Review: On May 5th 1975 Elvis performed a concert in aid of the McComb tornado victims at the State Fair Coliseum, Jackson, Mississippi. Elvis raised $108, 860 to help residents who were affected by the devastation. Since the audio for this benefit show is damaged beyond repair, 'Spirit Of Jackson, MS' includes two other shows from the State Fair Coliseum. Just over a month after the charity show, Elvis performed in Jackson again on June 8 1975 and this show is featured on Disc 2. Disc 1 is from September 5 1976 and one of his very best performances from 1976, prior to his stunning late December shows.
For once the set’s main show is the previously unreleased September 5, 1976 concert. Knowing how average/poor Elvis’ shows could be in 1976 this really is a positive statement from FTD that this is an important performance, and luckily recorded in superb quality sound...

'A Vegas Fling With The King' CD Review: Elvis' 1973 February Las Vegas season has a reputation for being a rather lackluster come-down after the truly stunning success of the Aloha shows just two weeks beforehand.
There is no doubt that Elvis should have had a welcome relax and a break after performing such a record breaking world-wide event. Instead, Col Parker shoved him straight back into the old-routine of playing to the all-too-familiar casino-crowd. Elvis had a right to be uninspired.
However recent releases such as Straight Arrow's audience-recorded double-pack of Elvis' concerts from February 12th 1973 capture him in better than expected form...
In fact Elvis was on great form this night riding high from his recent ALOHA concerts. The Dinner Show is very worthy with more bass apparent than the late show and the TCB band is HOT!

'12:00 AM' New Import CD: Making its year-end debut is a brand new and exciting, unreleased AUDIENCE RECORDED Elvis show on the brand new Ragdoll label! For the label's maiden outing, the folks at Ragdoll have chosen the Las Vegas midnight show of August 27, 1974. Simply titled, "12am", the newly re-mastered recording finds Elvis in superb form and in fine spirits. From discussing Karate and his relationship with his fans to delivering powerful and rockin' versions of "It's Midnight", "Mountain", "Trilogy, "Big Boss Man" and "If You Talk In Your Sleep" respectively, Elvis is committed to please. The introduction of Red West is most unique with Elvis rattling off the titles of West's song compositions! Ragdoll's debut is a 2-cd set comprising the show in its entirety. Handsomely packaged to include a 8-page booklet featuring rare photos to compliment the sonic clarity, Ragdoll promises a bright future!

'Elvis - Double Date At The Gate' New Import: On November 28 & 29, 1976 Elvis performed two shows at the Cow Palace in the flower-city San Francisco. These shows have been regarded as some of Elvis' finest performances during this busy bicentennial year for The King. Gathered here in a beautiful 2-disc digipack is both shows in excellent quality 'Elvis - Double Date At The Gate:  - 40th Anniversary Edition'.
Unfortunately the sound engineer was not able to capture the whole shows while recording, but on this release you will find every second that was captured.
The sound on both shows has been remastered by professionals and has never sounded better.
EIN Note: Both soundboard have been previously released.
November 28, 1976 on 'America The Beautiful'  & in 2011 by Audionics 'San Francisco Bay Blues'.

'Let Me.. Sing Again' New Import: Out soon MxF label's second special product called "Let Me.. Sing Again featuring Elvis' Dinner and Midnight show from August 25th, 1973.
These AUDIENCE recordings are taken directly from a first generation of original tapes.
The afternoon show is previously unreleased, the evening show previously released here is presented in a very improved audio-quality.
August 1973, Elvis Is back for his last summer season..The 1973 was begun in the better way, with the Aloha special at least commercial talking. But the things turned immediately toward the wrong direction..the man had too weight to bear in his human shoulders... But as always for Elvis the music keeps his mind alive and overall active..so the best moments of our man is when He is on the stage..
The August 25 present Elvis in positive mood , both the shows are solid and well performed...Elvis deliveries some killer version of My Boy and You Gave Me a Mountain, keeping steady part of the show the two classic Suspicious Minds and Bridge Over Troubled Water and delighting the audience with the sensitive The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and rocker&blues latest single Steamroller Blues.
The sound is very good for an ambient recording, We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out a simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound balancing the channel and put at the right speed the tape. The result a pretty dynamic tape with a great definition of the background music and for sure you can live the atmosphere of a Elvis' concert in the seventy.
Ask your dealer for sound samples.

'A Vegas Fling With The King' New Import CD: Out soon is the 9th volume of Straight Arrow's "From The Booth Tapes" series. It's 2CD entitled "A Vegas Fling With The King" featuring Elvis' Dinner and Midnight show from February 12th, 1973. These recordings are taken directly from original 'booth recorded' mastertapes.
These concerts showcase Elvis in excellent form! Famous actor Jack Lord and his wife Marie were present for both shows. Elvis called out Jack's name, and Jack stood up. The applause was tremendous. Elvis grinned and said, 'Sit down, Jack, you're getting more applause than I am'.
Both  shows are previously unreleased and 100% complete. The February 12, 1973 D/S is a completely new show, even for die-hard Elvis fans. It has never been in circulation - in any form. The February 12, 1973 M/S was in circulation in the form of amateur CDRs in very bad sound. It has nothing to do with the top-notch booth quality tape presented here by Straight Arrow. Ask your dealer for sound samples.
As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel digipak that includes Jack Lord's special memory of Elvis and rare photos taken on- and off-stage during Elvis' 1973 Las Vegas Winter season.
If you liked our previous Las Vegas 1973 releases like "One For The Ladies" (SA/SP 2016-41-02) or "Doin' The Best I Can" (SA/SP 2015-29-02), we'll bet that you will also love this one!

'The Wonder Of You' Elvis with the RPO - In-depth CD Review: It is forty years since Elvis Presley entered a recording studio and he seems very reluctant to record anything new. So in terms of releasing a "new" album of Elvis material the topic has always been a tricky one. After the massive 2015 success of "Elvis with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" and ‘If I Can Dream’ the follow-up was inevitable and 'The Wonder Of You' recently achieved Number One in the UK album charts.
But can a follow-up really be as impressive - and do the true Elvis fans have to approve of these on-going fake "Revisions"?

Click here as EIN's Piers Beagley and Bryan Gruszka are back again to cause "Double-trouble" and supply a very detailed review, discovering what's good and bad...
And HAVE YOUR SAY - what do you think of the new album? Are we wrong in our opinions?

Spliced Takes 'T-R-O-U-B-L-E' & 'Snowbird' New Imports: Another two up-coming releases in the CMT/STAR produced "Spliced takes" series.
'Spliced Takes "-T-R-O-U-B-L-E" - Finally a "seventies" album! CMT is proud to present their latest release which promises to be another winner!
Again the STAR team has done all the edits on this album, and they did an even better job , with lots of excellent edits, and surprises.
Unlike other "import" labels, they truly were able to produce an album using many incomplete takes , to create beautiful new tracks.
Their professional edits will blow you away, and will make you believe these are unreleased takes.
Amazing new takes were created, and this could be THE release for the holiday season:
It starts with a great edit of "Trouble/Guitar Man" have we heard this before? "Ill Be There" has a complete different opening, "Pledging My Love" sounds very different, Moody Blue has the "Suspicious Minds" approach with fade in/fade out effect, "The Sound of You Cry" was shortened for a chance, and has more power than ever. "Kentucky Rain" runs much longer and listen to the drama in Elvis' voice! For the first time a "live-splice" was used and makes "It's Impossible" a great bonus!
Elvis fans have been spoiled over the years, and they all know.. "the end is near" almost every complete take available has been released, so this is as close as you can get for a "New" album!
The set comes in a "Deluxe Digipack" with beautiful artwork, and is strictly limited to 500 copies!
Full tracklisting:
Trouble/Guitar Man - Spliced take 2,3,1

'Elvis Presley – Spliced Takes Snowbird' : Perfect for the holidays, and another winner here! The best seasonal songs and gospels are included here.
Every year there are some "new" Elvis Christmas Albums.... they all have the same tracks over and over.... how nice to have something really new now!
One of THE highlights must be the alternate version of "Winter Wonderland" it has a totally new approach, and alternate ending which sound amazing! Another cool edit is the "single" version of "Merry Christmas Baby" without the overdubs! "The First Noel" sounds as if it is a RPO version, the original master was edited with the 2008 overdubbed version, and makes it more powerful than ever! As a bonus a "duet" version of "Mama Liked The Roses" is included, Elvis recorded two vocal overdubs, these are combined here to get a very unusual version.

"Heart 'n' Soul And Some Mighty Fine Rock 'n' Roll"  New Import: Out soon from the  E. P. Collector label is "From Japan With Love Vol. 1" recorded live at the Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, NV, August 8th 1972 Midnight show.
Titled 'Heart 'n' Soul And Some Mighty Fine Rock 'n' Roll'  it is a 1972 audience recording subtitled "From Japan With Love Vol. 1" because it was recorded by a member of a Japanese fan club.
The Las Vegas, August 8th, 1972 Midnight show is previously unreleased. This concert was never before available in listenable sound, until now! It was taken from a recently found first generation copy of an original audience recorded master cassette tape and digitally restored for your listening pleasure.
This concert is excellent!! Actually all shows from 1972 Summer Festival are. Highlights are "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", "What Now My Love", ''Little Sister / Get Back" and early, humble version of "My Way".
This CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak accompanied with 8-page booklet, filled with memories written by a Japanese fan who taped the show and met Elvis backstage, and a collection of on- and off-stage images taken in August 1972.
More CDs taken from "Japanese" tapes are planned.

'Sunset In Vegas' / 'A Night In Saginaw' New Import CDs:  Touchdown Productions label have two new releases both are audience recordings.
'Sunset In Vegas' presents the midnight show from August 23, 1974 in Las Vegas for the first time in complete form. The show was first released in 1993 as 'Vegas Birthday Show', but it was incomplete and missed three songs from the show. The sound quality is very good for an audience recording. The show itself is a good one.
Elvis wasn't very talkative and was focused on singing and entertaining the audience.
'A Night In Saginaw' features the show from April 25, 1977 in Saginaw. The concert was released for the first time in 1994. The soundquality is significantly better as Touchdown Productions was able to find a new source.
After the very good concert in Ann Arbor the day before, Elvis also offered in Saginaw a very solid show with nice versions of 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'Little Sister' and a mighty fine version of 'My Way'.
Also included are six former released songs, newly remastered.

‘Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955’: MRS will release a 2CD/100page book compilation titled ‘Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955’ on the 25th November 2016.
The 100-page book chronicles Elvis’ short recording career there, from its humble beginnings (his personal acetate recordings from July 1953 and January 1954) through to the final Sun sessions in 1955. The full and comprehensive text is complemented by rare photographs and unseen pieces of documentation.

The 2CDs contain the complete archival studio recordings from 1953- 1955:  Elvis’ personal acetates, the Sun masters, along with rare session outtakes. The tracks have been painstakingly remastered and restored.
There are many highlights on this new release. All of the newly remastered tracks now sound much clearer and crisper. For instance, ‘That’s All Right’ has been taken from the ‘Mother’ master of the original Sun 45rpm. Also, for the first time on CD, ‘I Forgot to Remember to Forget’ appears without the false bass RCA added to it in the 1980s when tampering with the master tapes.

The remastering of Elvis’ first acetate recordings – ‘My Happiness’ and ‘That’s When Your Heartaches Begin’ (from July 1953) – has also well exceeded the sound quality ever achieved before on these primitive recordings. Furthermore, on the outtakes of ‘Blue Moon’, the painstaking audio restoration has removed the overload and studio hum present on previous issues, and made them sound much better than ever before.  Indeed, all previous erroneous mastering faults and miscalculations have been rectified on this release, making it the best collection of these seminal recordings thus far.

MRS will also release a few weeks after the CD release, a 2LP 180 Gram Vinyl version titled ‘ MEMPHIS RECORDING SERVICE: MASTERS & SESSIONS 1953 – 1955’ with a bonus 4 page photo insert on the 16th December 2016.

'The Hometown Shows' FTD In-depth Review: FTD's new release 'ELVIS: The Hometown Shows' is another double-CD this time focusing on Elvis' Memphis performance from 1974 / 75.  It features two legendary shows from the Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, the March 17, 1974 (Evening show) and June 10, 1975 performance.
The March 17, 1974 ES soundboard is a brand new unreleased show, while June 10 1975 is one of Elvis' best mid-seventies concerts which has been previously out on bootleg. Both are excellent shows and in GREAT sound.
This 1975 concert provided us with the great Ed Bonja cover photo for the 'From EP Boulevard' album so you know Elvis was up for a good time!
Go here as Elvis soundboard super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell & EIN's Piers Beagley check out this new FTD Memphis double-pack and discover both the good and the disappointing facts about this new FTD release

'Too Late For Goodbyes' New Import CD: Straight Arrow is pleased to bring you a new double CD dedicated to Elvis' May ’77 tour. The Knoxville, May 20th, 1977 tour opening show is previously unreleased. This recording was taken directly from a recently found original audience-recorded mastertape of excellent sound quality! This historic concert was never before available in decent sound… until now! The Largo, May 22nd, 1977 show was first released by JR Productions (”ELVIS… TONIGHT 8:30 PM“, 1994). 22 years have passed, and it is the right time for a proper re-release. We dug up the original cassette and restored it from scratch. Knoxville is a solid tour opening concert. ”And I Love You So” and ”Hurt” are performed really well but one highlight stands out, an amazing performance of „How Great Thou Art“. Largo was affected by sound problems and Elvis changed the microphone several times. Nevertheless he was in a very good mood, and he gave decent performances of songs like ”Fairytale”, ”Funny How Time Slips Away” and ”My Way”. As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel digipak that includes rare photos taken in Knoxville and Largo and a newspaper review of the May 22nd, Largo concert.
It’s new STRAIGHT ARROW so you know what to expect!

About The Season - Extract from the booklet
...Without any doubt August 1972 is the focus of this year for ELVIS, 64 strong shows for this season, Elvis's voice was great - even richer than in his January/February season! Elvis also looked superb - just as good as in the recent June tour with such HIGH QUALITY SHOWS, looking great , in excellent spirits. After a modest opening night the show will go growing day by day . Seems strange but Elvis keeps his performance to the top for all the season and even this attitude will be growing to the end of the season with shows longer and with a very serious approach to the music, Elvis cared about his songs and each performance was 'fresh' like he was singing' it for the first time, also Elvis being a perfectionist expected a quality performance from everyone during every song! Maybe the present of 200 English fans from the first September give him an extra incentive to deliver some killer shows, maybe only for a while he could to live his dream to be playing in Europe.Without doubt a different kind of approach to the music the normally we can't find in Vegas ' Elvis' performance (normally also in his earlier season Elvis begins to be tire of Vegas after the second week of the engagement..) he seems to sing the show his life and you know when he wants he can delivery what nobody other singer or rock band can do. In the same time he sings a different kind of songs...
Weight of each BOXSET : 1,5 KG
We always tryin' to give more, We hope of this new release will be a real great update of your Elvis' live show collection.
For The Last is easy to understand with the variation present in the boxset will be very hard to get the same copy. A classic for the TRUE collectors.
Collect Them All!!!!!!

'Spliced takes “Nashville”' New Import CD: After their first “Hollywood” release, CMT is proud to present their latest release which promises to be another winner!
Again the STAR team has done all the edits on this album, and they did an even better job, with lots of excellent edits, and surprises. Unlike other “import” labels, they truly were able to produce an album using many incomplete takes, to create beautiful new tracks.
Their professional edits will blow you away, and will make you believe these are unreleased takes.
Just listen to the amazing alternate master of “Ain’t That Loving You Baby” re-created from scratch including 17 (!!) splices, this brings you the version used on the 1984 “Reconsider Baby” album, in much better remastered sound.
“Fever” is presented with longer intro and great splices creating a whole new outtake! “Guitar Man” is spliced 5(!) times and also has a new “What’d I Say” ending. “U.S. Male” has an unusual extra verse included which didn’t make it to the record “You son of a b…”
Another highlight must be “I Gotta Know” with alternate Jordanaires backing. “I Need Your Love Tonight” has an additional guitar solo, and the alternate “I’m Yours” also includes the spoken version.
Elvis fans have been spoiled over the years, and they all know.. “the end is near” almost every complete take available has been released, so this is as close as you can get for a “New” album! The set comes in a “Deluxe Digipack” with beautiful artwork, and is strictly limited to 500 copies! Pre-order your set now, this will be sold out soon!

'Way Down In The Jungle Room' VINYL OUT NOW: The special double-vinyl version of 'Way Down In The Jungle Room' is out now and available from Amazon UK (see below). The set celebrates the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ last recording sessions which took place in Graceland’s Jungle Room.
The publicity noted the sessions “have been newly mixed by Matt Ross-Spang at Sam Phillips Recording” and “includes both outtakes and in-the-studio dialog, providing a ‘fly-on-the-wall experience’ of what the sessions were like".
The vinyl release does not include the masters but instead features the making-of tracks from the second sensational disc of the general legacy double release.

UPDATED - 'Way Down In The Jungle Room' EIN Review:  Released for August 2016 this SONY Legacy pack celebrates the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ last recording sessions which took place in Graceland’s Jungle Room.
The publicity noted the sessions “have been newly mixed by Matt Ross-Spang at Sam Phillips Recording” and “includes both outtakes and in-the-studio dialog, providing a ‘fly-on-the-wall experience’ of what the sessions were like".
Elvis' original 76/77 albums were fairly uninspired collections (bar a few fine singles) and on the original LPs it was almost impossible to glimpse any sign of creative input from Elvis through the syrupy overdubs. It wasn't until the release of FTD’s magnificent ‘The Jungle Room Sessions’ that many fans began to understand the raw emotion, close camaraderie and Elvis’ personal feelings that were revealed by these intimate Graceland sessions.
To produce that same kind of revelation for the 'General Public' would be a very tricky project but that is exactly what the new legacy team has done - and to great effect.

'Elvis 1974 - In Between Watergate and Ali' Import Box-set: The Rock'n'Roll Majesty label have announced a 5CD bootleg box-set including some of Elvis' lesser 1974 performances all of which have been released before.
Strangely called 'Elvis 1974 - In Between Watergate and Ali' it features the following concerts.
CD 1) College Park, Maryland: Saturday: Sept 28, 1974 Part One
CD 2) College Park, Maryland : Saturday : September 28, 1974 Part Two + The Binaural Rehearsal August 16, 1974 RCA Hollywood
EIN Note - College Park Sept 28  (previously on Fort Baxter's 'A Profile The King on Stage Vol2') has previously been reviewed as - "Elvis is out of breath, his mouth is lazy and he's behind the beat. He's on one of is babbling jags too - you know, where he starts making those embarrassing, off-color, incoherent comments."
CD 3) October 1, 1974: University of Notre Dame, Evening Show
This show is officially out on FTD's 'Dragonheart' release.
CD 4) October 6, 1974 (2.30 pm) Dayton, OH. University Of Dayton.
CD 5) October 6, 1974 (8.30 pm) Dayton, OH. University Of Dayton.
Both better quality Dayton shows are from Boxcar's 'Dayton Reloaded'
EIN truly wonders which collectors really need this peculiar set?

'Road To Nowhere' New Import CD: Out soon is 'Road To Nowhere' from the E.P. Collector label. An audience recording from Louisville, KY, May 21st, 1977. It was the second stop of Elvis’ May 1977 tour and according to Larry Geller, Elvis was in a very bad shape prior the show. Dr. Nick was present in the hotel room, using cold water with ice to make Elvis ready for concert. Listening to this CD, one must say that under those circumstances, Elvis did a remarkably good job! Among the concert highlights are ”That’s All Right“, „You Gave Me A Mountain“ ”Heartbreak Hotel”, ”My Way” and usual show-stopper “Hurt“. The May 21st, 1977 show is previously unreleased in any form and it was never available on the collectors circuit in acceptable sound. The producers have been looking for a good sounding recording for long time. Finally they got a solid sounding tape from an Elvis collector in the USA. Comes in a nice digipak filled with a positive concert review from the local press and a collection of quite decent images taken on May 21st, 1977 in Louisville, KY.
Tracklist: 1. Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001 Theme) - 2. C. C. Rider - 3. medley: I Got A Woman / Amen - 4. That's All Right - 5. Love Me - 6. If You Love Me (Let Me Know) - 7. You Gave Me A Mountain - 8. Jailhouse Rock - 9. medley: O Sole Mio (Sherrill Nielsen / It's Now Or Never (with reprise) - 10. Little Sister - 11. medley: Teddy Bear / Don't Be Cruel - 12. 'Elvis - Hilton Showroom vol. 5' New Import CD: AudiRec proudly present 'Elvis - Hilton Showroom vol. 5' out soon. It includes an audience recording of the complete and so far unreleased performance from March 27, 1975 (Dinner Show) at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. Expect another dynamic Elvis performance from a time period when Elvis was willing to “deliver”!
Here we go with probably the last known recording of a March 75 Elvis Vegas-Show in pretty good, listenable sound. From the reports we have on hand (mainly from our personal archives of original “Elvis News Service Weekly” magazines) it shows that Elvis did just great since the engagement started on March 18. Forrest Duke from the “Las Vegas review Journal” commented “Hilton´s Elvis stronger than ever” and pointed out some new titles in Elvis´ setlist. Even Glen D. Hardin´s Aunt Ann Cummings attended the shows around March 27 and commented positively “Elvis his old self again”. Well, since you are soon able to own the complete performance on CD just judge yourself! Fans of our series know what to expect, not only from listening but also from reading in the usual high quality booklet that is included with first-hand information from what was going on at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas in March of 1975.
Please be aware that this new release is limited to 300 copies only! Be sure to get your copy if you are interested. Once you have it in your hands, we hope your spare time will allow you to sit back, put your headphones on, flip through the accompanied 16-page booklet and listen to the Dinner Show from March 27, 1975. It´s Las Vegas! It´s the Hilton Hotel Showroom! It´s ELVIS! Enjoy!

'Silver Screen Treasures 1962-1965' New Import box-set: The publicity suggests.... "This marvellous 5 cd set is something special. With 5 individual jewelcases, packed in lp sized box including oversized booklet this set will bring you back to the old days of cd/vinyl packaging. Something deluxe!
This release features mostly alternate versions from all of Elvis movie sessions during 1962-1965. A fantastic release with a lot of surprises, in a fantastic sound and running order.
Last but not least is disc 5, featuring (mostly) rejected acetates of songs written for Elvis movies but (mostly) were never used.
A very limited edition so get it while you can."

EIN believes that Elvis collectors will surely have 99% of these tracks already on FTD soundtracks and previous bootlegs. Perhaps it should be called "For demo collectors only"!

DISC 5
THE DEMO ACETATES
When a new Elvis movie was created, colonel parker used to ask several songwriters to write songs for the movie.
Mostly the Colonel gave them a title or a description of the scene and the songwrters understood what kind of a song the colonel needed.
This so called ‘demos’ were then recorded (at expenses of the songwriters) on an acetate disc and sended to the colonel for approval. Obviously there was concurrence between the different songwriters, some of the songs were rejected, some were actually recorded by Elvis.
The actual demos are unique, mostly there were only one or two acetates made and due to the material (wax on a metal plate) they were very fragile and could only be played a few times.

This cd contains newly discovered demo recordings, all of these recordings were recorded & written for the Elvis movies.
Some were not used for obvious reasons, simply because they were not good enough, and some u can actually imagine Elvis singing them.
Fun In Acapulco is almost a copy of the demo, except for some lyrics that were changed during the recording.

Most of these acetates come from the Dolores Fuller collection and were written by her and compose by Ben Weissman, except for Fun In Acapulco (Ben Weisman/Sid Wayne), Night Life (Giant/Baume/Kaye), I Need Somebody To Lean On (Pomus/Shuman)& Love On The Rocks (Tepper/Bennett)
Sit back and enjoy! Some of these songs might turn out to be completely different then you expect.

'The Hometown Shows' new FTD CD: 'The Hometown Shows' is another FTD double-CD release this time focusing on Elvis' Memphis performance from 1974/75.  It features two legendary shows from the Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, the March 17, 1974 (evening show) and June 10, 1975 performance.
The March 17, 1974 ES soundboard is a brand new unreleased show, while June 10 1975 is one of Elvis' best mid-seventies concerts which has been previously out on bootleg, most recently on  'Bringing It All Back Home'. It is an excellent show and in GREAT sound.
This 1975 concert provided us with the great Ed Bonja cover photo for the 'From EP Boulevard' album so you know Elvis was up for a good time!.
Note that the last few songs of the June 10 1975 were not recorded and have been replaced here with the same songs from the previous day in Jackson, Mississippi.

'Elvis: His Songs of Praise' new FTD book/CD combo: Announced by FTD, the first of two volumes titled "Elvis: His Songs of Praise" from author Trevor Simpson. Both books will combine to over 700 pages chronicling the 100 sacred, spiritual and inspirational gospel songs sung by Elvis.
Volume 1 promises over 350 pages with lavishly illustrated high-quality images, many unseen photographs and graphics. Every song has been thoroughly researched in a similar manner to Trevor Simpson’s previous trilogy "Elvis: The Best of British”. In early interviews, Elvis divulged that spiritual music was his first love and he publicly continued to reaffirm. Despite being acclaimed as the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, he was only presented with three Grammy awards and they were for his spiritual music and the stories of these iconic songs are much, much more contained within this book. The book comes with bonus CD.

'One For The Ladies' New Import CD: Out soon is the 8th volume of Straight Arrow's "From The Booth tapes“ series. It's 2xCD entitled "One For The Ladies" featuring Elvis' Dinner and Midnight show from February 10th 1973. These recordings are taken directly from original audience 'booth recorded' mastertapes. Both these concerts showcase Elvis in fine form. It was a busy month, with many highs and lows, but thanks to the outstanding success of the ‘Aloha’ special, Elvis' reputation as the ultimate superstar was now firmly cemented. There were a few off-nights due to Elvis having the flu, but he was certainly in good spirits at these two concerts, and he delivered the goods to two packed showrooms. These excellent sound booth recordings capture the excitement of these shows beautifully. The Dinner show is previously unreleased, except for portions of an incomplete soundboard recording with a bass-heavy mix and Elvis' voice in the background. The Midnight show has been previously released on CD ("I'd Like You To Meet Jack Lord" on the Crown label in 2002, and the slightly improved "Turning Up The Heat In Las Vegas" on Memory Records in 2003). However, these older CDs have nothing to do with this Straight Arrow’s excellent "booth tape“ version. Ask your dealer for sound samples.

'Holding His Own In Tahoe!' New Import CD: Straight Arrow is pleased to bring you a previously unreleased concert from Elvis’ last season in Lake Tahoe. Opinions on the standard of Elvis' last stint in Lake Tahoe often vary. Granted, he did look quite bloated during these shows, and the jumpsuits often looked unflattering, but Elvis was generally in good voice. He delivered his longest ever shows in Tahoe and the King really did seemed to enjoy the intimacy of the showroom, along with the rapport with the fans in attendance there. The May 8th 1976 Midnight Show is, without doubt, one of best concerts from the engagement. With the exception of a messed-up "The Wonder Of You", Elvis performed consistently well at this concert. His delivery, on the whole, was very strong. There’s a nice intimacy to the recording, and his interplay with audience and musicians alike was a true delight. There were also a number of vocally-impressive renditions, one being Elvis’ latest RCA single, “Hurt", which he performed twice. Also Worth a mention were solid performances of "Polk Salad Annie", "My Way", "Tryin' To Get To You" and "Mystery Train / Tiger Man". A water pistol fight at the beginning of the show underlined how much Elvis was enjoying himself. A most interesting concert in rather good sound quality - ask your dealer for sound samples. As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel digipak that includes a great deal of information plus Lake Tahoe memorabilia and rare photos taken during the season. If you liked our other Lake Tahoe 1976 releases like “A Triple Threat!”,we'll bet that you will also love this one!

'Atlanta 1975' Import CD/DVD: A new special release from the MxF label, “Atlanta 1975'' featuring the unreleased Show from Atlanta April 30, 1975 plus a bonus DVD with unreleased footage from the same tour.
After the successful Las Vegas Hilton comeback, in spite a little bit overweight but with strong spirit, Elvis is ready to face his first tour of the 1975.. The rock attitude is back the performance is relaxed and superb like many critics noted…, still at the top if his ability he deliveries the classic one hour show as usually, but very intense updating the show with more contemporary repertoire, tossing away mostly of the oldies..There is a freshness that cannot be denied, Elvis was very energetic on stage, bringing back his best seventy rocker like Burning Love and his first That’s All Right Mama…and naturally his karate exercises…introducing his latest rocker single TROUBLE.. He sang with rough power and sensitivity
at the same time, delivering a solid short show, with songs like Let Be There recent hit from Olivia Newton-John” and the classic “My Boy” sang terrifically. Elvis finally started to perform again his rocking repertoire appearing to be more focused on the music. The sound is very good for an audience recording, considering that this kind of recording is coming from a big hall not the intimate Las Vegas showroom… We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out a simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound balancing the channel and put at the right speed the tape. The result a pretty dynamic tape with a great definition of the background music and for sure you can live the atmosphere of a Elvis’ concert in the seventy.
About the DVD in spite we are talking about amateur footage, we are proud of the work done..after careful remastering work in the matter to delivery the best video to date, including matching audio from the original concert in the way to get a perfect sync between audio and image with speed correction of the original footage we can say that watching this DVD you can have the perfect idea and overall, you can live the Elvis’ show in April 1975 tour…
This is the first very special Product for this label, this new CD&DVD combo will be housed in a deluxe LONG DIGIPACK, containing a 12 pages of booklet with focus and details on the four shows included in the live footage with a collection of live photographs newspapers clips and memorabilia plus a high quality glossy 135 gram paper poster of 50x25 cm size.
Limited edition in 500 copies with five alternate sleeves.

'The Beat Is Back'  Import CD: Out soon is from the E.P. Collector import-label is a 2CD set entitled ”The Beat Is Back” containing an audience recording of the April 21, 1976 performance in Kansas City, MO.
The publicity notes... As per the March 1976 tour, the April tour was a short one - Elvis played just 8 shows in 7 days - but only 3 days after tour closing in Spokane, Elvis started his last-ever season in Lake Tahoe. Most of the April concerts were solid and the shows were longer, with very enjoyable set lists.
Note: Shane Kiester was replaced on piano by Tony Brown and Ronnie Tutt was back on drums, replacing Larrie Londin.
Among the concert highlights are ”Steamroller Blues“, ”Heartbreak Hotel”, ”My Way”, “Hurt“ and ”Burning Love”. There are other great performances, but one single performance stands out in particular - an unique, dramatic rendition of „How Great Thou Art“! Elvis' vocals on this are unbelievable, and this is a serious candidate for 'best live version ever'.
The April 21st, 1976 show is previously unreleased. The producers were looking for good sounding recording for more than 2 years. Finally they got 3 different tapes. The best sounding one was selected for release and small parts were repaired using secondary sources, to make the recording 100 percent complete.
The CD is packaged in a nicely designed double digipak filled with a glowing concert review from the local press and a collection of cool images taken on April 21st, 1976 in Kansas City, MO. With Ronnie Tutt back in band, the beat was back, too!

'Still Stirring Passions' New Import: The MxF label will soon release "Still Stirring Passions'' featuring the unreleased Vegas March 21, 1975 Dinner Show.
The publicity notes.. After the problematic October 1974 tour, almost five months of rest and a February hospital visit, Elvis was back to the Hilton a little bit overweight, but stronger respect the previous year and overall in higher spirit. For this reason his performance is relaxed and superb like many critics noted…, still at the top if his ability he deliveries short shows as usually, but very intense updating the show with more contemporary repertoire, tossing away mostly of the oldies.. There is a freshness that cannot be denied, Elvis was very energetic on stage, bringing back his best seventy rocker like Burning Love, introducing his latest single Promised land.., He sang with power and sensitivity at the same time, delivering a solid short show, with songs like Let Me Be There recent hit from Olivia Newton-John" and the classic "My Boy" sang terrifically. Unlike previously Elvis didn’t carry any Karate exercises, in this season the sport was never mentioned….but in same time respect the previous two years the rocking spirit was back, in fact Elvis started to perform again his rocking repertoire appearing to be more focused on the music.
The sound is very good for an Audience recording, We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out a simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound balancing the channel and put at the right speed the tape. The result a pretty dynamic tape with a great definition of the background music.
As usually from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe DIGIPACK, containing a collection of live photographs newspapers clip and memorabilia. We love this show, the rock attitude is back, the "NEW" songs added reflecting the man in the 1975!! in spite the long band introduction, the man is still at the top and Elvis at the top means an unforgettable experience for those who attended the show and for those of us prepared to listen. The sound is very good and in times of continue Soundboard re-release we are glad to give you the possibility to have a release that can combine the Very Good audio quality with the unreleased status ….
EIN NOTE: This concert has been previously available on cdr - (as have other MxF re-releases). The quality of the cdr is pretty poor. We advise you to check the audio quality before buying.
Includes bonus poster featuring a great live shot from the actual March 1975 Vegas season.

Three New FTD May 2016 Releases: FTD have announced their next three releases, a Classic Album, double 1975 soundboard and special double-vinyl release.
1 - "Elvis" ('68 Comeback) is finally being released as an FTD "Classic Album".
The first disc includes the original album plus the expected Bonus tracks. Disc 2 contains,
Somewhat disappointingly this includes the material previously released on the excellent FTD 'Let Yourself Go' but also includes 9 previously unreleased tracks.
'Let Yourself Go' however was edited into a "making of the NBC Special" audio documentary (see EIN's detailed review here).
Now we get a more thorough look into the session tapes.
Go here to SONY/ FTD 2016 releases for full tracklists

2 - 'LAS VEGAS 1975' - double-pack soundboard concert release.
The album features two of Elvis' best concerts from his Las Vegas March/April 1975 season.

The March 22 concert is considered one of the best concerts of the season and was first released on the Fort Baxter bootleg 'A Profile Vol. 2'.
Elvis is in fine voice and the excellent set-list includes Big Boss Man, It's Midnight, Promised Land, My Boy as well as the one-off 'You're The Reason I'm Living' (as previously issued on the 'Live In Las Vegas' BMG box-set)

EIN contributor Ciscoking comments, The Las Vegas March 22, 1975 MS is by far the best concert from the season so although previously bootlegged the concert is an essential release. The April 1, Dinner Show is also a great addition with a fine song line-up and Elvis in a fantastic mood - the bonus songs were also very carefully chosen.

The April 1 concert was previously released on bootleg back in 2009 by Southern Comfort/Fort Baxter and it is an excellent show - see EIN review here.
This will be a great double-pack from FTD.
Go here to SONY/ FTD 2016 releases for full tracklists

3 - 'King Creole' The Monitor Mono Mixes. Special Double-Vinyl - on 180Gram VINYL.
These mixes were recorded by RCA's studio engineer separately to the King Creole album Masters and include the few outtakes of the session that have been released.
Tracks include, As Long As I Have You (long version - take 8 ), Crawfish (unedited master) and King Creole (first version - take 18).

'Charlie, Bring Me The Request Box!' New Import: Straight Arrow's will soon release the 5-CD box release 'Charlie, Bring Me The Request Box!' featuring the complete Elvis Presley August 1975 Summer Festival, August 18th – 20th in Las Vegas. It was shortest ever Elvis Las Vegas season – after just 5 concerts, the rest of the season was cancelled due to health issues.
Compared with the previous June/ July 1975 tours, Elvis was a bit heavier and regardless of the problems that were plaguing him at the time, he was in an amicable mood, and his playfulness and warmth resulted in many delightful moments during these shows. Not only that, but he also continued with the ‘request box’ idea which he’d started in Ashville, NC about a month earlier. Fans were able to write their requests on a piece of paper and put them in a request box (actually a champagne bucket). During the shows Elvis would sometimes grab a couple of pieces of paper and select a song from those. This resulted in various true live rarities being performed, such as "Crying In the Chapel", "Loving You" and "Young And Beautiful". Some songs were performed for the last time ever: "Green Green Grass Of Home", "T.R.O.U.B.L.E." and "Suspicious Minds". After 2 days it was clear that Elvis was not well enough to fulfill the season. He appeared exhausted and prior to the August 20th, 1975 Midnight show, the decision was made to cancel the rest of the season.
Through the last 25 years, the August 18th-20th, 1975 shows were released on various bootleg CDs of variable quality and completeness. For the last couple of years, the Straight Arrow team has been looking for the best sounding audience recorded tapes available, to make this new release the ultimate August 1975 ‘Request Shows’ box. In nearly all cases we were able to work from the original cassettes, thus providing us with the best conditions to give you the best release possible. As you can expect from Straight Arrow, each single show was individually restored from scratch -- this was definitely no quick „copy & paste" job, as by certain other labels! Every second was faithfully enhanced to achieve optimal listening pleasure. Ask your local dealer for samples to judge for yourself!
Presented with usual Straight Arrow's high standard, every disc is placed in an individual cardboard sleeve and there is a topnotch 16-page booklet too, with many on- and off-stage photos taken in Las Vegas between August 18th and 20th, 1975. To make this release even more definitive, various memorabilia items and historical concert reviews, as published by Rex Martin in "Worldwide Elvis Service News Weekly" are reprinted as well as various newspaper articles, all related to this season, its cancellation and Elvis’ subsequent hospitalization.
Those five shows sound better than ever and for the first time as complete as possible! This new release is a labor of love, it is a gem of a release that you can’t afford to miss!

'ELVIS LIVE in the 50's The Complete Concert Recordings' Review: The new MRS box-set 'Elvis Live in the 50’s The Complete Concert Recordings' was publicised as the ultimate tribute to Elvis Presley documenting his shows from the 1950’s. The 3 CD’s represent for the first time ever, the release of the complete collection of archival live concert recordings by Elvis Presley in the 1950’s. All of the 82 tracks included have been painstakingly remastered and restored.

The 172 page book is a chronological photo journey following Elvis from the very first to the very last shows performed in the 1950’s. It contains linear notes that includes every show listing (now updated) and is accompanied by hundreds of photographs many of which are rare and unpublished.
The book includes tour details (date, town, venue) and all photos are annotated. The customary range of press clippings is a powerful record of 1950s publicity ads, ticket stubs, receipts and show reviews.

Go here as EIN's Nigel Patterson and Piers Beagley provide an in-depth review of this new MRS release along with some scans from the book showcasing Elvis in action.

'ELVIS – Hilton Showroom Vol 2' New Import CD: AudiRec proudly presents 'ELVIS – Hilton Showroom Vol 2' to be released shortly. It includes an audience recording of the complete and so far unreleased performance from December 5, 1975 – only three days after the much acclaimed Opening Show of Elvis´ December Las Vegas 75 Season.
It´s been quite a few months since Elvis´ unexpected break-up season of August 1975 and his fans didn´t know what to expect from his return to the Hilton Showroom, although there were of course high hopes for a triumphant series of concerts. Also there were two things that immediately catched the eyes and the ears of fans and critics once the “King” was back on stage in Las Vegas´Hilton Showroom: Elvis was noticeably heavier than ever before in his life and he was singing with a certain quality in his voice which was probably stronger than ever before! It´s easy to say so even though audience recordings are mostly far from perfect when it comes to reveal details in a singer´s voice. Elvis sang great in December of 1975 and once you get to hear songs like “Just Pretend” or “How Great Thou Art”, but also “Trying To Get to You”, with this powerful magic of God´s given talent in Elvis´ Voice you will have to agree.
Please be aware that this new release is limited to 300 copies only! Includes a 16-page booklet (including an extensive fan-review of the show written very shortly after the concert was over)

'Elvis Presley in MONO' New Import Box-set: Elvis Presley in MONO is how most listeners first heard Elvis in the 1950s and 1960s, when it was the predominant audio format. Until 1968, each Elvis album was given a unique MONO and STEREO mix, but Elvis always regarded the MONO mix as primary. This was also true for singles. Up until affordable home STEREO systems in the late 1960s, the record industry always regarded STEREO as secondary, going back to its debut in the late 1950s. MONO singles, EPs and LPs were the standard for retail and radio. Simply put, MONO had all of the sound mixed in a single channel and was meant to be listened to on a turntable with a built-in speaker, a car radio, or a stand-alone AM radio receiver. The goal was to create MONO master takes with as much clarity and power as possible.
When EMI released MONO masters of the Beatles in 2009, they received rave reviews. Left out in the cold were Elvis’ loyal fans. Somehow, SONY didn’t see a reason why they might want the pleasure of listening to his original MONO mixes. So when we first heard about the existence of the original MONO master tapes of Elvis’ hit singles, it was an easy decision to make these available to the fans in a five-disc collection. Elvis' acclaimed MONO tracks have been newly-mastered for CD, using the best digital technology. Hours were dedicated to concentrated listening, fastidiously comparing these master tapes with mint, MONO first pressings. The result is a perfect reproduction of Elvis' original MONO vinyl sound!

'Live In Las Vegas' New Import CD: Coming soon from the new label "Universum Productions" is the almost complete Dinner Show from August 7,1969.
The publicity notes... This performance is an Audience Recording at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. It has a familiar sound like other already released audience recorded tapes of that period. We would classify it "average"....ask for a sample and we´re sure you weren´t disappointed.
The show itself of course is really great.

EIN Note: the publicity hardly sells it to you - and EIN has heard a sound sample which sounds very "tinny", not even "average" audience recording quality.
Why not stick to the high-class 'Return Of The Prodigy' from a few nights before instead?

Tracklist:
1. Intro - Blue Suede Shoes (2:28) 2. Foolin‘ Around (1:07) 3. I Got A Woman (2:19) 4. All Shook Up (1:49) 5. Elvis Welcomes The Audience (1:22) 6. Love Me Tender (2:56) 7. 'Elvis Live At Del Webb‘s' New Import: Out soon from the Touchdown label  a "good sounding" audience recording from the midnight show on May 25, 1974 in Lake Tahoe. Also the recording isn’t fully complete, we thought as it is such a fine concert that it deserves a release. For your information we like to add, that the introductions of the musicians, the singers and the orchestra are missing. Also omitted from the recording is “Funny How Time Slips Away”. A different source includes the song, but the soundquality was really bad. So for a better listening experience we decided to not include it. “Big Boss Man” and “Can’t Help Falling In Love” are from the same source as the main part of the show, but both are probably from a lower-generation tape. They were first used for the old bootleg "Big Boss Man In Lake Tahoe" to complete the recording of the Dinner Show on May 24, 1974. Nonetheless the soundquality is nearly the same. Added to the midnight show from May 25, 1974 are three bonus songs from the dinner show on May 24, 1974: “Help Me”, “An American Trilogy” and “I’ll Remember You” (first released on the CD “Big Boss Man At Lake Tahoe”).
EIN Note: The May 25 1974 Dinner show was released as a fine soundboard by Fort Baxter as "The King For Dessert" back in 1998.

'Elvis Reaches Austin City Limits' new Import: Out soon is 'Elvis Reaches Austin City Limits'  from the E.P. Collector label, live audience recording in Austin, TX, March 28th, 1977. The 2nd tour of 1977 was cut short due to illness, but some of the concerts were surprisingly good, especially the Abilene show on March 27th. In Austin, Elvis performs another solid and entertaining show. Note: David Briggs was replaced by Bobby Ogdin on electric piano and clavinet. Among the concert highlights are ”You Gave Me A Mountain“, ”Little Sister”, ”Help Me”, “Fever“ and ”Hurt”. Special moment: it was the very last time that Elvis performed “Steamroller Blues” – a really cool performance! The March 28th, 1977 Austin, TX show was previously released 14 years ago by the “Crown” label (a poor sounding CD called “Elvis Slips Into Austin”). Fortunately, the E.P. Collector producers were able to locate the very good sounding original audience recorded master cassette, taped with a recorder equipped with two microphones.
EIN Note: The producers say"The result is a rich and ambient sound - ask for samples!" EIN suggest you do - As it is 1977 it better be a great audience recording to make it worthwhile.
The CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak filled with a positive concert review from the local press and a collection of cool images taken on March 28, 1977 in Austin, TX.

'A Killer Nite!' New Import: Out soon from Straight Arrow "A KILLER NITE", featuring the previously unreleased Las Vegas, August 26th, 1972 Dinner show. This audience recording is taken directly from a recently found original mastertape, as recorded by British super fan Rex Martin. This new source has never been in circulation. Of all the engagements that Elvis performed between 1969 and '76, there is no doubt that his Summer '72 season was one of his finest. Not only that, but he was also operating on a consistently strong level, which is something that you can't even say about the Summer '70 one, which had its fair share of poor shows near the end of the engagement. He was in total command of his art, he looked fantastic and he sang like a bird. Each concert from this engagement is recommended listening for the true Elvis scholar. As usual, our new release is presented in Straight Arrow's standard deluxe digipack, designed with a collection of photos of Elvis, taken during Elvis' 1972 Las Vegas Summer Festival.

Elvis – Hilton Showroom Volume 1' New Import: Coming soon from the AudiRec label 'Elvis – Hilton Showroom Volume 1'.. It includes an audience recording of the complete and so far unreleased performance from December 8, 1975 – right in the middle of Elvis´ December Las Vegas 75 Season.
AudiRec has by now quite an experience in focusing on the year of 1975. The reason for this is simple – we believe that when Elvis was on stage in 1975 he was almost always focused on the music, and it showed. So when Elvis returned to Las Vegas for the second to last time in December of 1975 he delivered mainly great shows. The one you hear on this release he seemed to be in excellent mood and enjoying himself on stage – actually just like at all the other shows from December 2 to December 15. The people in the Hilton Showroom on that very night loved his performance and from what we can hear on this cd plus several other audience- and soundboard-recordings, the Las Vegas Winter season of ´75 was a really good one.
Please be aware that this new release is limited to 300 copies only! Be sure to get your copy if you are interested. Once you have it in your hands, we hope your spare time will allow you to sit back, put your headphones on, flip through the accompanied 16-page booklet (including an extensive fan-review of the show written very shortly after the concert was over) and listen to the show from December 8, 1975. It´s Las Vegas! It´s the Hilton Hotel Showroom! It´s ELVIS! Enjoy!

'February 1974 Closing Show' New Import: The MxF label will release soon a new product called “February 1974 Closing Show'' featuring the unreleased Vegas February 09, 1974 Closing Show. (EIN Notes- It has previously been released on CDR).
The publicity notes... After almost five months of rest, Elvis back to the Hilton in better shape and stronger respect the previous season. For this reason his performance is superb, still at the top if his ability he deliveries short shows, but very intense, there is a freshness that cannot be denied, Elvis was very energetic on stage, full of enthusiasm he sang with power and sensitivity, delivering a solid and heartfelt repertoire like the “new” songs “Spanish Eyes, Help me and Let Me Be There recent hit from Olivia Newton-John” and the classic “Trying to Get To You” sang terrifically. At the same time he still performs a great version of the classic rocker “Johnny B. Good” without forget two classic early 70’ songs like Polk Salad Annie and Sweet Caroline and as you can see from the track list the number of the classic oldies in the show are significant reduced. This season will be the first with the new agreement , Elvis signed two years of contract performed twice a year, but only two weeks at the time rather than the previous four.
(EIN Note: The audio samples we have heard are very average - check before purchasing)
As usually from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe DIGIPACK, containing a collection of live photographs newspapers clip and memorabilia. We love this show, it is clear we are not talking about the rough rocker of early 69/71, the “NEW” songs added to the show are no properly Rockers!! but in spite of some limitations and an evolution of style to a more complete musical range the man is still at the top and Elvis at the top means an unforgettable experience for those who attended the show and for those of us prepared to listen.
We add as bonus for this first release a poster featuring a great live shot from Montgomery, March 06.

- 'How RCA Brought Elvis To Europe' - Book: This beautifully designed book contains unseen pictures and follows Elvis ascent from hottest act in The South via US stardom to becoming RCA Victor's spearhead as the company launched the RCA label worldwide in 1956. It goes on to show how Europe was completely won over by the early 1960's.
The earliest international Elvis records are listed, and there is a guide to identify Elvis records from all European countries, including a summary of the earliest releases from each country.

There are complete illustrated discographies (including variants) for all Nordic countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. There is also a guide to first pressings of the 47 Elvis EP's released in Germany Elvis' reception in the Nordic countries is covered by a wealth of press cuttings, local film flyers and posters, ads, premiere dates, pictures and stories from handovers of Swedish and Norwegian record awards, and much previously unknown record company history.

Among many revelations, the most surprising is perhaps how the Swedish company Electra engineered most of the Elvis activity taking place in Northern Europe.

Spliced in between are many amusing short stories, like when three Nordic Royal Princesses sought out Elvis on the set of G.I. Blues, or how the man behind RCA in Belgium started out smuggling records in the wings of his WW2 Royal Air Force Spitfire. Or the time Norway's bestselling crooner met Elvis in RCA Studios on the day Hound Dog was recorded.
The story behind German Teldec's earliest Elvis releases is completely rewritten along the way, and for record collectors there are many new discoveries – like why do records from some countries come with push-out centers while others have large center holes. Or how can it be that up to three different label variants may occur within the same print run. Or why were Europe's earliest 45-singles sold in Sweden only and why did Denmark and Norway, each with tiny populations, issue respectively 46 and 56 different Elvis records?
And did Elvis really pose a threat to communist Eastern Europe when he served as a US Soldier in West Germany? Boy, he sure did. All these topics and plenty more are covered in How RCA Brought Elvis to Europe. And not to be forgotten: free with the book's first edition comes an UNRELEASED 1956 VINYL EP.
The book is written by Norwegians Sigbjørn Stabursvik and Hans Otto Engvold, supported by a network of experts from fourteen countries. Stabursvik knows things about records that most people don't, while Engvold is a hound for detail in all things Elvis. Together they bring new insights on practically every page of this excellent book.

'Last Stint At The International' New Import: Straight Arrow is releasing both of Elvis' August 29 1971 Las Vegas concerts from newly discovered Audience Recordings. They note,,, Our previous release 'Solid As Rock' received a great deal of acclaim from the fans, who praised the quality of Elvis' performance as well as the good audio. Some even stated that we had 'undersold' this release, and that the sound-quality of the recording is better than what was stated in our publicity. We at Straight Arrow believe that self-praise is no praise at all; we prefer to let our product speak for itself, which is also why we have built up a loyal following over the years. We simply deliver the goods, no hype necessary. The Straight Arrow team is always looking for rare, unknown or seemingly lost recordings. Once again, the labels researchers were successful - BOTH Aug. 29, 1971 shows are completely new, even for die-hard Elvis fans. They have never been in circulation - in any form! Unfortunately, the Aug. 29, 1971 M/S was not recorded in its entirety. The cassette recorder was stopped - perhaps accidentally - during „Love Me Tender“ and the last couple of songs are missing.
It is with pleasure that we can now offer you more recordings from 1971. This fine Las Vegas season is still poorly documented, so we know that many fans will be delighted with this release. Elvis delivers the goods with two no-nonsense shows, from an engagement that marks the end of an era. From '69 until this point, Elvis had created so much magic with his shows at the International. Not long after this engagement, the International was sold to the Hilton group. The hotel was renamed, and, oddly enough, some of the magic that was synonymous with Elvis at the International disappeared. From this point onwards, his performances in Vegas became very much a case of 'hit and miss'. Let's go back and touch the past, put the CD in the player and let's enjoy one more dose of the original magic of Elvis at the International.
This release is presented in a deluxe digipack, filled with rare images taken at the Las Vegas International hotel in August, 1971.

"Elvis Presley: The Album Collection"  60CD Box Set, More Details: The recently announced "Elvis Presley: The Album Collection" 60-CD Deluxe Box Set has prompted some relevant questions from EIN readers.
Good news is that these are all NEW Re-Masters from the original tapes, re-done by Vic Anesini using the most up-to-date technology.
Keen fans have noted that there were multiple songs that Elvis released as singles that never appeared on "regular" RCA albums. For instance 'Suspicious Minds' could only be found on the 'Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits' box-set, and 'Burning Love' on the 'Burning Love and Hits From Movie vol.2' both of which are not included in this 60CD box-set.
The publicity notes "Features all of the albums Elvis recorded and RCA released in his lifetime" yet the new collection leaves out 'Worldwide Gold Award Hits' Vol 1 & 2, 'A Legendary Performer' Vol 1 & 2, 'Having
Fun With Elvis On Stage', 'Pure Gold', 'The Sun Sessions', and 1977's 'Welcome To My World' - (not including a few Camden collections of material already featured). This new set does however include three extra CDs of 50's, 60's and 70's Rarities - but these would obviously not include the noted missing singles.
The answer to the questions is that despite the suggestion of releasing Elvis' "Original albums", several of them have had new "bonus tracks" added to their original tracklist to accommodate the missing single & EP tracks.
For instance Suspicious Minds, Don't Cry Daddy, Kentucky Rain and Mama Liked the Roses have all been added to the "new" version of 'From Elvis IN Memphis' while Separate Ways, For the Good Times, Burning Love, Always On My Mind, It's A Matter of Time and American Trilogy have all been added to the "Elvis (Fool)" album.
And despite Elvis never wanting the dreadful 'Dominick' to be released it has been included on the Camden 'Almost in Love' collection!
Comparing the tracklist to the fabulous 'The Complete Masters' release of 2010 , 'Elvis Presley: The Album Collection" Box Set' contains 784 songs while 'The Complete Masters' featured 814 "masters".
The only tracks on this new box-set that were not on 'The Complete Masters' are from the Frank Sinatra TV show, 'Stuck On You', 'Fame and Fortune' and the 'Witchcraft / Love Me Tender' duet.
The three new "Rarities" collections feature the expected fifties acetates and early live recordings, the sixties Home Recordings, 'Are You Lonesome Tonight? (Laughing Version)' etc while the seventies include Rehearsal Jams, studio alternates even 'Froggy Went A-Courtin’!
The publicity does however promise, "The Album Collection also includes a 300-page deluxe fully illustrated hard cover book with complete insightful commentary, discography and recording session data. Elvis Presley-The Album Collection represents a level of artistic achievement unparalleled to this day. This unique and comprehensive collection provides testament to Elvis' innate talent.  Original album packaging has been painstakingly restored including gatefold/die cut sleeves, original RCA Victor inserts, stickers and more. CD labels replicate original side 1 labels."

Elvis Presley: The Album Collection (60 CD Deluxe Box Set): At Elvis Week last year FTD's Roger Semon mentioned a mammouth box-set that SONY were working on to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Elvis' contract with RCA.
The news was announced yesterday. This 60th Anniversary 60-CD Deluxe Edition celebrates RCA Victor's signing of Elvis Presley-The King of rock 'n' roll.
Features all of the albums Elvis recorded and RCA released in his lifetime: studio, soundtrack, and live. It also includes compilations released that featured unreleased songs or songs new to the LP format.
The Album Collection represents album sales in the U.S. of 135 million! Collectively, Elvis has RIAA certified sales of singles, EPs and albums equaling 25x multi-platinum, 52x platinum and 92x gold awards given for U.S. sales alone! Estimated worldwide sales are in excess of one billion!
Highlights include: Elvis' iconic first two studio albums, Elvis Presley and Elvis released in 1956. All 17 of his film soundtrack LPs, the legendary NBC-TV special Elvis; From Elvis In Memphis and Back In Memphis; and 1970s triumphs On Stage (1970), Elvis As Recorded Live At Madison Square Garden (1972) and Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite (1973).
Original album packaging has been painstakingly restored including gatefold/die cut sleeves, original RCA Victor inserts, stickers and more. CD labels replicate original side 1 labels.
The Album Collection also includes a 300-page deluxe fully illustrated hard cover book with complete insightful commentary, discography and recording session data. Elvis Presley-The Album Collection represents a level of artistic achievement
unparalleled to this day. This unique and comprehensive collection provides testament to Elvis' innate talent.

News From December 2015

'Elvis Live In The 50’S - The Complete Concert Recordings' New Box-set: Memphis Recording Service will have its first release in 4 years titled 'Elvis Live In The 50’S - The Complete Concert Recordings' on February 19th 2016.

This box set is the ultimate tribute to Elvis Presley documenting his shows from the 1950’s. The 3 CD’s represent for the first time ever, the release of the complete collection of archival live concert recordings (including rare interviews and the recently discovered new material) by Elvis Presley in the 1950’s.

All of the 82 tracks included have been painstakingly remastered and restored. Fans who enjoyed previous mastered works of the MRS team such as ‘Such a Night in Pearl Harbor’, ‘The Complete Hayride Archives’ and Boxcar’s remastered works of the Orlando February 1977 concert, are in for a treat.

Our restoration techniques have now been applied to the Tupelo shows as well as the Eagles Hall, Frontier and Robinson Auditorium shows.
Combined with further works on the Hayride and others shows, the quality of these recordings is now far superior to ever before.
The 172 page book is a chronological photo journey following Elvis from the very first to the very last shows performed in the 1950’s. It contains linear notes that includes every show listing (now updated) and is accompanied by hundreds of photographs many of which are rare and unpublished.
The tracklist includes Elvis' performances from 16th October 1954, through to WELO Interviews from Elvis in Tupelo, 27th September 1957.
