For those who have repeatedly requested a major revision to their original book 'Elvis UK', published in 1987, this new series focuses on the biggest section of that book - the UK LP section - though this new series will run to five volumes - an indication of how much detail has gone into each book.

UK Sunderland Football Club new Elvis inspired kit: British Sunderland AFC has officially unveiled their new 2026-27 away kit, made by Hummel.
In a unique collaboration with EPE, the striking pink shirt pays homage to the legendary musician and the club's supporters, who have famously sung "Can't Help Falling in Love" on the terraces for nearly five decades.
Supporters will find the words 'Can't Help Falling In Love With You' - Sunderland's anthem - inside the neck tape alongside the club crest and Elvis Presley's signature.
The Sunderland AFC 26-27 away football shirt features a predominantly pink base, drawing inspiration from Elvis' iconic pink Cadillac and his vibrant wardrobe.
A black panel at the top sharply breaks the design.

Also joining the celebration is singer Belle Frantz, who brings a deeply personal connection to Elvis' legacy. Last October, Belle recorded two songs at First Assembly of God Church in Tupelo - Elvis' childhood church and where her own grandfather once played guitar.

June 21 1956 - 70 years ago: On Thursday 21, 1956 Elvis left Memphis driving his new Cadillac Biarritz to Atlanta for the start of his one week tour of the Southern States, the first time he and the band were there since his June 5 explosive Milton Berle TV performance. He played the Paramount Theatre for three days where his June 22 show in Atlanta would be the very first time The Jordanaires joined Elvis on tour.
Elvis would play three shows each day for his 3-day booking at the Paramount - plus an extra early performance on the Saturday.
The week before Elvis had explained to Wink Martindale.. "I'm not doing it 'on purpose', I mean, I'm aware of everything I do at all times. But it's just the way I feel... I mean I can't just picture somebody singing a rock'n'roll song standing real still... actually I'd go nuts standing there. Rock'n'roll is real hot right now. And I like it. It's very good. It has a feeling and people enjoy it. People enjoy dancing to it. And there's some very beautiful records made in the rock'n'roll style.."
A newspaper review from two nights later in Charlotte included…
... "Elvis Presley, a flip but unpretentious lad who is the idol of millions of rock ‘n’ rollers, caused a near riot under the Big Dome. He escaped from the stage just as hundreds of teenagers were closing in to the unavailing objection of squads of police. After a long build up, Presley burst onto the stage staggering and flailing like a moth caught in a beam of light.
His songs were an unbelievable burlesque, combining the elements of a strip-teaser’s bumps with the slapstick gawkiness of a Harpo Marx. Presley’s 20 minute show was interrupted nearly 60 times by shrieks from his fans.
Neither Presley’s mannerisms nor his singing nor his jokes are polished. Rather, they are actually awkward - and the crowd is with him all the more for it..."

Apart from audience recordings there seems to be nothing new in the Elvis bootleg world. Below are several Re-Releases that you should find at your local Elvis dealer - if you missed them first time around.
'Dane County Coliseum, Madison June 24, 1977' New Import: Another reissue of this unique concert from June 24, 1977. It is the very last known soundboard recording of Elvis. During this show, Jerome 'Stump' Monroe is behind the drums.
The most notable song of the evening is 'One Night'; in addition, Elvis sings 'If You Love Me (Let Me Know)', 'Jailhouse Rock', 'I Really Don't Want To Know', and others.
If you don't have this show on CD yet, this reissue is a great opportunity. You’ll hear this release as original recorded.
So no fake-stereo effects. Comes with new artwork featuring photos and recording information. EIN Note: Previously released on bootlegs such as 'Stumpin Madison' and 'The Final Curtain' set.
Probably the only 'soundboard' recording that exists from Elvis' final tour but it was a very poor show.
Elvis left out all of his showpiece songs, no ‘My Way’, ‘Hurt’, ‘How Great Thou Art’ not even an ‘Unchained Melody’ - it could be called "Mumblin’ in Madison". Poor Elvis.

'Elvis: The Jan/Feb 1971 Soundboard Recordings' New Import 4cd set: From a no name label, 'Elvis: The Jan / Feb 1971 Soundboard Recordings - 4cd Collectors Edition. The publicity includes... We have brought together our 4 previous releases into a set released as a limited edition with various extras!
The CDs feature the soundboard recordings from January/February 1971 as originally recorded, plus some bonus recordings. Not all recordings from Opening Night (January 26) were released by the FTD label like ‘Love Me Tender’, ‘The Wonder of You’, ‘Make The World Go Away’ and others, + the recordings from Closing Night (February 23) were not available through the label.
However, they can be heard on this set, making it a nice addition to the FTD label.
We prefer the original sound, so we have not applied any fake stereo effects.
Together with the extras such as replica postcards, etc., this has become a fine set for collectors and fans. EIN Note: FTD released a lot of this material and the MRS label released these shows in very good 'DES' stereo on 'Elvis – NOW 1971' -

Already it is charting at Number 1 on the USA Amazon Documentary 'Best Sellers' list and at #2 on Amazon UK's DVD - BluRay 'Best Sellers' list.
According to the press release, the DVD and Blu-ray / 4K UHD releases will "Give audiences the opportunity to experience Elvis Presley like never before at home, with breathtaking picture quality and immersive sound."

'Loving You' JAS Reprint: Producer Anthony Stuchbury broke the news... "Due to popular demand the JAS record label is to release a very limited edition (100) repressing of their 'Loving You' soundtrack CD.
This limited edition will be distinguishable from the first via the new CD label thereby keeping the integrity of the first pressing intact."

Los Conciertos de Elvis Presley (The Concerts of Elvis Presley): Carlos Alises Parra has released two "softcover" books about Elvis in Las Vegas, one focusing on 1969 (340 pages) and the other on 1970 (288 pages). Note: The 1969 book is a "complete revision" of the author's previously published volume in 2024-25-early 26.

FTD 'The Paradise, Hawaiian Style Sessions' OUT NOW: As part of its successful ‘sessions’ series, FTD's 'The Paradise, Hawaiian Style Sessions' - 60th anniversary edition - is OUT NOW and at your local Elvis dealer!
Newly mixed and mastered by Sebastian Jeansson and Vic Anesini, the masters and outtakes, featured over 3-cds, now offer superior audio to the original 1966 soundtrack album.
The 24-page booklet contains many rare photos, memorabilia, movie trivia, recording data and insightful essay. EIN Note: Fans should realise that all but one of these songs were vocal overdubs onto pre-recorded instrumental tracks.
Citing illness Elvis didn't report to Radio Recorders for the scheduled soundtrack sessions.
In the end the only song that Elvis sang live with his band was 'Sand Castles'.
This album includes six vocal-overdub attempts on 'Queenie Wahine’s Papaya' and 9 vocal-overdub attempts at 'A Dog’s Life' - oh joy!

.. A simple neon sign hung in the front window of the building: Memphis Recording Service. It wasn't the Sun Records logo, as is often assumed, but the original name of the studio itself. Over time, this sign became an enduring symbol of where it all began.

Graceland Opened 44 years ago: Elvis’ Graceland opened for public tours on June 7, 1982, with Elvis' Aunt Delta and EPE CEO Jack Soden there to cut the ribbon. Since that day over 25 million people have visited the mansion, known as the second most recognized home in the US after the White House.
In the past 44 years, the Graceland campus has expanded considerably, offering a wealth of new and different experiences, new museum, large hotel plus a venue for concerts and other entertainment for its visitors.
It was 44 years ago that Elvis fans began to line up in front of 3764 Elvis Presley Blvd in Memphis, Tennessee. With their $5 ticket in hand, they were about to experience Graceland Mansion, the late “King’s” home, in a way that they’d only dreamed of before.
Today, Graceland stands as the second-most-visited home in the United States, outpaced only by the White House.
More than 500,000 people flock to Memphis every year to step inside the King’s home
It was nice to see that Graceland featured on CBS' Sunday Morning TV show this year to remember the anniversary of the opening.

'Tupelo Elvis Festival 2026': The major annual Elvis Birthplace celebration of The King wrapped up this last weekend.
Tupelo was packed with Elvis fans crying out for more with Riley Jenkins, 23 - shown right - winning Tupelo’s new 'Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist'.
And nearly 50 years since Elvis' death his legacy is being kept alive for a new generation by Tupelo's 'Youth Tribute Artist' competition.
With performers ranging in age from seven to 17 - and some in cool jumpsuits - they took the stage in tribute to an artist who 'left-the-building' decades before they were even born.
The competitors have dedicated an enormous amount of time and energy to embodying the king’s voice, mannerisms and style.
“We’re not trying to be him,” said Tucker Gladden, 17, from Madison, Mississippi. “We want to recreate the experience as much as we can for people that maybe didn’t get to see Elvis in their lifetime.”
Several artists credited the 2022 “ELVIS” movie with sparking their interest.
A couple said their admiration began after discovering they were distantly related to Elvis. Others said it was Elvis’ faith and charity that inspired them. Some said they had been performing Elvis songs since they were 3 years old.
While in Tupelo, the youngsters also toured the Elvis Presley Birthplace, to witness the home where Elvis was born and the church where he was first exposed to Southern gospel music.
“It feels so surreal to pay tribute to Elvis in his hometown,” said 15-year-old Charles Session from Morrilton, Arkansas. “I hope that he’s looking down and smiling at all these young performers.”

'Elvis Second Ed Sullivan Show' New Book: Prolific author Paul Belard has just published his 212-page new book this time about the day of Elvis' second performance on the Ed Sullivan Show, October 28, 1956.
.. This day was a busy one in Elvis’ world. He rehearsed for his second appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, gave a press conference, posed for pictures as he was given a polio shot.
Then, in the evening, at 8:00 he appeared on TV, singing “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Love Me,” “Love Me Tender” and “Hound Dog.”
In the meantime during the same day, not too far off, a giant cut-out of Elvis above the marquee of the Times Square Paramount Theater was unveiled, announcing the upcoming premiere of Love Me Tender.

70 years ago: Everything Changed: Seventy Years ago, June 5 1956, Elvis performed his classic bump 'n' grind version of 'Hound Dog' on the Milton Berle TV show in the US and everything changed...
...'While the vast majority of articles in the first five months of 1956 show curiosity, bemusement, and general head-scratching by the authors at the Presley phenomenon, that all changed after the performance of Hound Dog on the second Milton Berle Show appearance.
.. The articles that appeared shortly afterwards condemning the performance set the tone for how Elvis was seemingly viewed by many adults and conservative America in particular for the rest of the year and beyond. Dispensing with his guitar, television audiences got to the see the gyrations that Elvis’s live shows were becoming famous for. This would, perhaps, have been bad enough but, for the last minute or so of the song, he cut the tempo in half, upped the ante when it came to his suggestive movements, and treated viewers to what is perhaps best (and most often) described as a ‘bump ‘n’ grind’ routine.
Guralnick states that Elvis ‘goes into his patented half-time ending, gripping the mike, circling it sensuously, jackknifing his legs out as the audience half-screams, half-laughs, and he laughs, too – it is clearly all in good fun.’

Leo Sayer embellishes his ELVIS story!: Pop star Leo Sayer has a tour to promote, as well as a new 18 CD box-set.
So once again he is back on TV and Radio flogging his old "Elvis story".
EIN has noted this before but now he is embellishing the story even more having Elvis singing "You make me feel like Dancing" as his final words! He says that he met Ginger Alden in London even though she has stated that she has never met Leo Sayer.
Sayer says, "Elvis called me and we had this wonderful conversation for probably three quarters an hour, talking about
everything. He was telling me that he was about to go on back on tour soon. He wasn't feeling it. He was trying to get fit. He got rid of a lot of people in his, you know, the famous Memphis Mafia posse that he carried around."
.. Leo said years later, Elvis' girlfriend Ginger met him in London. "She said, 'You know, Elvis was so looking forward to seeing you, and it would have been amazing, and he was kind of clearing the decks, making sure that he didn't have anything to do, any interviews or anything.
It was all going to be him and you, and we would be in the background'.
Ginger said the last thing she heard Elvis say - because she actually discovered him the next day, literally dead in the bathroom - the last thing she heard him saying was he was singing, "You make me feel like dancing" as he was going up the stairs.
She wanted to tell me that. Yeah, she said, you know, really the last words Elvis said was like a dog hanging on a lead as he kind of disappeared into his bedroom."
Sayer then adds, "I've got the brain of a 20 year old, you know. So I want to keep that going, and I still think my best work is ahead of me, as well." EIN Note: Previously in his re-telling Sayer has confused Linda Thompson and Ginger Alden.

Paul McCartney Talks Elvis: While promoting his new album on BBC Radio Sir Paul McCartney also talked about meeting Elvis. Paul and the other Beatles famously met Elvis for the first and only time in 1965 when the group visited his residence in Los Angeles.
Reminiscing about his days in the band McCartney hailed his experience meeting Presley and his wife Priscilla.
He said, “Elvis was really great. He was a very handsome guy – but we kind of knew that. We were fans.
We just followed everything he did, and we looked at any photo we could get. He wasn’t a disappointment at all.
I say that we rang the doorbell and Elvis came to the door and said, ‘come in guys’.
He invited us in and we sat around and he had a jukebox, and played Charlie Rich's 'Mohair Sam' 45rpm.
Elvis had a bass there and he was talking about the bass so we could talk, sort of, bass talk. He was great, very personable, very nice.
He had a bunch of his minders with him – and you read stuff later, and I think they were mainly his cousins, his gang."
He described meeting the singer’s wife, Priscilla, as a “highlight” and said: “You’re inviting four guys into your home – probably the last thing you need is them to be all over your wife. It was great, she was great, Elvis was great.”
He told host BBC host Vernon Kay: “You pinch yourself. I met – I actually sat with, like I’m sitting with you, Elvis.” EIN Note: Paul's late wife Linda McCartney would buy Bill Black's "Heartbreak Hotel" double-bass for Paul as a birthday present.

'Elvis Meets The Beatles': "It was fifty years ago today"... on August 27, 1965 An EIN spotlight on this famous night in 1965 when the Fab Four finally met the King. In 1965 The Beatles manager Brian Epstein initiated contact with Colonel Parker, and the decision was made that on the night of August 27, the Beatles would come to Elvis’ home for an informal get-together. Intensive security arrangements were worked out, and it was agreed that no press would be involved and no pictures would be taken or recordings made of whatever happened.
"So many things could have gone wrong," says Jerry Schilling, "If Colonel and Brian hadn’t gotten along, it wouldn’t have gotten past the phone-call stage. But there were no ego battles, and from the start it was approached as a pair of music greats coming together out of admiration for each other."

Opening in Japan today, this concludes the 'EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert' world tour.
It has now opened everywhere.

'EPiC Original Soundtrack' CD Review: RCA's 'EPiC Original Motion Picture Soundtrack' was released on digital and CD back in February and on 2-LP vinyl last weekend.
Executive produced by Baz Luhrmann, the soundtrack features 27 tracks from the 'EPiC' documentary combining newly restored live performances with fresh remixes and medleys created from Elvis’ original recordings.
It is a packed 74 minutes of pure Elvis delight and this original soundtrack genuinely does follow the story-line and arc of the movie and also includes some full-length versions of Elvis’ on-stage performances that were edited for the actual film. If the movie took you on an emotional journey then this CD is a lovely keepsake of the same trip. It truly captures the glory and power and emotion of Elvis' legacy.
The movie jumps from one performance to another with multiple edits - how does this work as a standalone CD?
There CD includes a lengthy and detailed track-list but unfortunately never notes which shows Elvis’ performances were actually taken from. -

Greg Gordon of The Imperials has died: Greg Gordon was a member of The Imperials from 1971-72, he died a few days ago, he was 75.
As The Imperials baritone singer Greg Gordon appeared on multiple Elvis' recording sessions including the albums 'Elvis Now', 'He Touched Me', 'Elvis (Fool)' and 'The Wonderful World of Christmas'.
Greg Gordon attended Elvis Week 2025 when The Imperials were inducted as 'Graceland Legends'.
In the photo he is shown holding his 'Legends' statue.
Greg was a member of The Imperials from 1971-72 but he also composed the song 'Bringing It Back’ which Elvis recorded in 1975 for his 'Today' album when Gordon was for a short-time a member of 'Voice'.
As well as working with Elvis, Gordon was also a member of the Oak Ridge Boys, sang with the Chuck Wagon Gang, as well as The Rambos.
At Elvis Week 2025 he talked about how he became part of the Imperials and how Elvis came to record 'Bringing It Back’

Using the latest state-of-the-art studio technology, we have worked to create a much more balanced recording that does justice to both the musicianship and Elvis’ performance. The rehearsal has also been speed-corrected, as earlier releases ran far too slow.

20 'EPiC' Questions with Ernst Jorgensen:At all the Australian premieres Baz Luhrmann noted that 'EPiC' - Elvis Presley in Concert' would never have been made without the work of his Editor Jonathon Redmond and "Elvis expert" Ernst Jorgensen.
EIN is certain that 'EPiC' - Elvis Presley in Concert' will be the documentary that future generations will watch to discover more about this mythical figure from the 1950s that changed the course of pop culture.
Ernst Jorgensen is credited as 'Music Consultant' for the new Baz Luhrmann film and EIN was certain that he must have been involved
throughout the whole process since he was also credited in Luhrmann's

When Baz Luhrmann was directing his 2022 film “ELVIS” he heard about some mythical missing reels from the 1970 documentary “Elvis: That’s the Way It Is.” Luhrmann was intrigued, mainly because he thought he could use the footage in his film and thus avoid building a huge set and employing hundreds of extras. When he sent an associate into the Kansas City salt mine where MGM keeps its negatives, he discovered that there was something even more valuable hidden in the studio’s collection.
The result of that journey is “EPiC: Elvis Presley Live in Concert,” a gloriously exuberant celebration of The King that’s unlike any concert film or music documentary ever made. It’s an impressionistic and immersive portrait of Elvis at a peak moment in his artistry, when he was performing up to three shows a night in Las Vegas and interpreting everything from his own classics to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” and The Beatles’ “Get Back.”
First, however, Luhrmann had to find the missing sound for all the material in MGM’s archives. Because “Elvis” was a success, Luhrmann was able to hire a researcher who he said was really more of a full-time detective to track down the audio, which often involved shady exchanges in parking lots with people selling a few minutes of sound at a time on the black market. In some cases Luhrmann had to convince collectors who didn’t want to part with their material that his intentions were pure, meeting with them multiple times until they trusted him with crucial footage.
Once Luhrmann had all of the material, he took it to (Beatles Get Back) Peter Jackson’s Park Road so they could restore the footage to its original glory. Luhrmann was intent on presenting Elvis and his music as they were, so the idea was to preserve the footage without altering it. “There’s not a frame of AI in this film. There’s not a visual effect. What Peter and his team do is take the negative and take the abrasions out of it and reproduce it at its highest quality. Then we take it back for color grading, which is a very sensitive art. It’s just spending hours and hours, which I did with our colorist.”
The rigorous work pays off in “EPiC,” which looks and sounds like it was shot yesterday. “The pictorial resolution is achieved through painstaking love. Peter and his team have this love and there’s no one like them on the planet. Think of what they did with that first World War picture [‘They Shall Not Grow Old’]. Think of what they did with The Beatles.”
The restoration work and the enveloping sound design by Wayne Pashley make “EPiC” an extraordinarily visceral experience that not only brings the viewer inside Presley’s perspective but gives a sense of what it would have been like to attend one of his concerts.
“We wanted to make it as much as possible like you’re actually at
a concert with Elvis,” Luhrmann said, which is why he encourages audiences to see it on the biggest screen available — preferably IMAX.
Although the movie is a typically maximalist Baz Luhrmann spectacle, its production was much smaller than he’s used to, and that made it particularly pleasurable. “I’m not saying I don’t enjoy [making other films], but everything is usually fraught with labor and complexity and is a mountain climb. Here we were a tiny little team and EPiC was probably the most enjoyable thing I’ve ever made.”

Jan 27 - 'Heartbreak Hotel '- Released 70 years ago today: Hearing Elvis' new song on the radio in Liverpool in 1956, The Beatles' John Lennon knew that Elvis' new 45rpm would change everything...
Lennon explained..“When I first heard ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ I could hardly make out what was being said. It was just the experience of hearing it and having my hair stand on end. We’d never heard American voices sing like that, they'd always sang like Sinatra or enunciated very well.
Suddenly there’s this sort of hillbilly hiccup on tape echo and all this bluesy background stuff going on. And we didn’t know what Elvis was singing about ….. to us it just sounded as a noise that was great.”
"Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles."

“Stump” Monroe, Elvis drummer, has died: It is with profound sadness that the family of Jerome “Stump” Monroe announce his passing.
He passed peacefully at home after a brief illness.

... "Today, a friend passed. This man wasn't just any friend, he is Jerome Stump Monroe, drummer, jokester, ladies man and as nice a person as you could ever be lucky enough to meet.
I only knew him for a short time, but I loved him like an uncle, you know the one you cant wait to see again?!?!
Being able to watch him as he brought smiles to others with his kind words and quick wit is something i will always treasure.
Sitting with him at 35,000 feet and both of us listening to Elvis’s first album and having him drumming along on his leg, saying to me “That's my boy!” Is a memory that only comes but once in a lifetime.
Elvis, was just one artist he played behind, toss in James Brown, Wilson
Picket, The Sweet Inspirations, and that one time with Little Richard. There were so many other acts famous and almost famous that he kept time for, always finding the perfect pocket to hold that groove in.
Even knowing this day was coming hasn’t made it any easier to handle.
I will miss you Stump, as you said to me many times, “You’re good people and I love you, man!” You’ll never be forgotten because your huge heart touched so many others."

Jerome "Stump" Monroe EIN Interview:Jerome "Stump" Monroe was the drummer for The Sweet Inspirations, and toured with Elvis from the first 1969 Las Vegas concerts through to the very end in 1977.
When regular drummer Ronnie Tutt was ill or absent, 'Stump' stood in as the replacement with the TCB Band three times over those years. 'Stump' Monroe played with Elvis in Philadelphia in 1971, Las Vegas December 1975 and finally in Madison on June 24th 1977. The Madison concert would be Elvis' third last performance, the soundboard of which has just been discovered and released on the box-set The Final Curtain.
This means that Stump has finally got to hear the Madison 1977 concert that he played on for the first time in 33 years!
Jerome 'Stump' Monroe is a charming, down-to-earth man who despite having played over 1,000 concerts with The Elvis Presley Show considers himself as no one special!
EPE / Weinshanker Update: As part of Elvis' Birthday Celebrations EPE managing partner Joel Weinshanker provided an update on future plans.
He noted that developing what would become “EPiC” has been a priority since he took over EPE in 2014. “I've been trying to convince Warner Brothers to go into the salt mines and pull out all of this footage, I had a real understanding, that there would be a tremendous amount of material there.” EIN Note: Any real Elvis fan would have known the same due to all the bootlegged unreleased MGM material we have seen over the years!
Ultimately, it was the success of Luhrmann’s biopic 'ELVIS' and the director’s relationship with Warner that helped make the project possible.
Weinshanker added, “What I've always said is that the best person who should speak about Elvis is Elvis. When you see this film, that’s really what Baz did. Elvis is the storyteller, you hear about his life in his voice. This movie is just an amazing opportunity for someone to get Elvis' story from Elvis.” Elvis Hologram concert is still being worked on. “Every time there's a new technology, they ask first about using Elvis with that new technology. Often, we say no but the technology has finally gotten to the place where it can be an amazing experience. We feel it’s going to be great for our brand, and great for Elvis.” Elvis 50th anniversary in 2027. "The commemoration of his passing will take on many forms including a historic slate of programming and events at Graceland . We’re 12 months out from what will be a year-long focus.
That’s really going to be about us creating incredible storytelling and having as much of that storytelling coming from Elvis as possible. And it is a phenomenal story — it's the story of America, it’s the story of our pop culture.” More expansion of the Graceland complex.
2027 will also mark a decade since the $130 million expansion of Graceland in 2017. "There are plans for further development of the Elvis Presley’s Memphis complex and we're eyeing 2030 as a time where we would have something really rolling out that would be finished and be the next iteration. Our ability to constantly update and change is going to define the future for us. We’re lucky in that we have an incredible collection of artifacts and we’ve barely scratched the surface in terms of that material.

'1956, Elvis Presley’s Pivotal Year':In 2011 TIME magazine featured this article by SONY/FTD's music producer and consultant Roger Semon. The article helped explain what the 2011 deluxe box-set 'Young Man With The Big Beat' was all about.

"In the mid-1950s, the post-war Eisenhower era of social conformity in America was at its peak, and musically, the most threatening image appeared to be Bill Haley’s kiss-curl as he sang “Rock Around The Clock.” That all changed on Jan. 28, 1956, when a raw and electric Elvis Presley made his breakthrough on the CBS program Stage Show. Presley’s good looks, sensuous moves and mesmerizing voice made him a sensation overnight. But it wasn’t until a third appearance on the show that Presley truly challenged the status quo. On Feb. 11, the singer performed “Heartbreak Hotel” and by April, the single would be #1 on the Billboard chart. At last, teenagers had music of their own to swoon over while their parents continued listening to Frank Sinatra and Mario Lanza....
Including information on how the tour “downunder” was arranged, the author offers a “day-by-day” account of each town or city the Cadillac was on display around Australia. 'Doc Pomus Talks Elvis Presley' EIN Spotlight: If Elvis found the creative connection he needed in the 1950s with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, then upon his return from the army he found a similar connection with the composers Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman.
Jerome Felder, better known as ‘Doc Pomus’ was born in Brooklyn on June 25 1925- so this year he would have turned 100.
Elvis’ post-army creative comeback would not have had anywhere the impact without these great Doc Pomus contributions that came out as major 45rpm hits, ‘A Mess Of Blues’, ‘Surrender’, ‘His Latest Flame’, ‘Little Sister’, ‘She's Not You’, ‘Long Lonely Highway’ and ‘Viva Las Vegas’.

Paul Dowling ‘Worldwide Elvis RCA Vinyl Discography' Book: Today Paul Dowling celebrates 51 Years in the Elvis business!
The publication of his massive 'Worldwide Elvis RCA Vinyl Discography' was announced around 5 years ago, even though Dowling notes he has been working on it for decades.
Back in 2016 Dowling told EIN, "It was 1992 when Bernadette Moore (in charge of the BMG Archives, New York) invited me to come up there and do research for my huge Worldwide Discography book which is now around 4000 pages but of course it still hasn't come out as I have found tons and tons of new information and continue to do so daily.
Bernadette gave me total access to any and all files they had on Elvis' vinyl and I found many that even people up there never knew they still had. I came home with over 3000 photocopies of listing notices, production cards, pre production cards, inner office cards, and more.."
Good news as today Dowling posted.. COMING EARLY 2026! A five volume (or more!) series of WORLDWIDE ELVIS RCA vinyl discography books which will include information, including photos, of all label and covers of every 78, single, EP, LP, and promos that were ever issued on RCA in 63 countries!

Paul Dowling is without doubt one of the major names in the Elvis World. He started collecting and selling Elvis vinyl over 50 years ago and probably has the world's largest Elvis Presley record collection.

'From ELVIS Recorded Live In Memphis 1974' MRS CD Review: From the MRS label 'From Elvis In Memphis – Recorded Live 1974' is out as
a double-CD Deluxe set and also as a 2LP Gatefold sleeve.
The 2CD set includes two performances from his hometown of Memphis. The first concert is from March 16 1974 (Afternoon Show), marking his return after 13 years, followed by a second concert on March 17 1974 (Evening Show).
At his Memphis 'Opening Night' Elvis put on one of the tightest and most impressive concerts for the whole of 1974. And in newly remastered 'MRS STEREO' this is a real delight.
This Sunday night March 17 concert neatly captures a different mood with Elvis up for some fun and so it compares rather nicely to the total professionalism of Elvis’ stunning opening performance.
Both shows remastered in 2025 by MRS to "true Stereo" sound as if they could be RCA Multi-tracks – you will never play any previous versions again if you get to hear these. 'The Colonel and the King' In-Depth Book Review: Published early this month Peter Guralnick's new biography ''The Colonel and the King: Tom Parker, Elvis Presley, and the Partnership that Rocked the World' has stimulated new debate.
The publicity promised.. "a groundbreaking dual portrait of the relationship between the iconic artist and his legendary manager — drawing on a wealth of the Colonel's never-before-seen correspondence to reveal that this oft-reviled figure was in fact a confidant, friend, and architect of his client’s success.
It was a relationship founded on mutual admiration and support. From the outset, the Colonel defended Elvis fiercely and indefatigably against RCA executives, Elvis’ own booking agents, and movie moguls. But in their final years together, the story grew darker, as the Colonel found himself unable to protect Elvis from himself or control growing problems of his own."
Unfortunately it appears that in trying to "debunk the myths" and create an alternate viewpoint of Col Parker, Guralnick has ignored a large amount of known history and obfuscates the facts.
Several of Parker's major exploitations of Elvis are deliberately left out!
Why exactly would a respected writer like Guralnick do this?

Elvis June 26, 1977; the Final Curtain: On this very day June 26 in 1977 Elvis played his very last concert at Market Square Arena Indianapolis.
It was his longest and his very best performances of 1977.
..Elvis stepped on stage with energy that was a relief to anyone and the audience burst into an instantaneous, collective roar that was explosive and deafening. Anyone who questions Elvis' power over his audience needs only to listen to the opening of this concert to see the proof of his command.
Compared to the truly weak performance that CBS TV had filmed only one week previously, this was a healthier, happy and focused Elvis who was determined to put on a great and memorable 'Closing Night' concert.

Book Review - 'Marion Keisker: The Woman Who First Recorded Elvis Presley':Paul Belard's latest book is a detailed account of Marion Keisker's life and her key role in the Elvis story. "That woman was the one who had faith she was the one that pushed me... Marion did it for me" - Elvis Presley 1971 .. Marion was Sam Phillips' assistant when he established the Memphis Recording Service, and later Sun Records.
She is best remembered as the first person to record Elvis in July 1953, then encouraging Sam Phillips (numerous times) to record him "commercially", therefore playing a pivotal role in Elvis' ascent towards the pinnacle of his career.
Throughout interviews given, Marion discloses the workings of Sun Records, the sessions, Elvis' moods during those first days of his career. There is a trove of little known or unknown anecdotes many fans will delight in.
This book is a fitting and well-deserved tribute to Marion Keisker.'
'Elvis UK3' is an outstanding reference e-book, there is however a keen section of Elvis collectors who prefer to own physical books as opposed to digital versions.
While the original 1,400 page book was too large to print as a single volume, the author’s idea of splitting it into three volumes is a very clever idea.
Leafing through these 478 printed pages of 'Compact Volume 1' gave us another reason to dig deep into Elvis’ CD legacy and enjoying the fascination of some stunning Elvis releases.

CD Review 'The Joan Deary Tapes Vol1' - and has Ernst won the war?’: Two years ago EIN posted an article suggesting that the Elvis bootleg era was over, that FTD and Ernst Jorgensen had truly won the war.
So it was a surprise to many that a new bootleg label ‘Joan Deary Inc’ suddenly popped up two months ago promising a very similar series of releases to the Madison ‘A Legendary Performer’ set.
They promised "Unique content... with never issued before outtakes. Some very different mixes among other glorious sounding tracks. Every track comes in great sound quality and has been remastered for optimal listening pleasure..."
EIN was suspicious from the start - to be honest I saw no need to purchase this CD - but several EIN readers wanted to know more before they put down their hard earned cash. 'What was Elvis searching for?' EIN Spotlight: The question is raised – but never answered – in the title of HBO’s recent absorbing, imperfect documentary 'Elvis Presley: The Searcher'.
At the start it seems clear what the teenage Elvis was searching for – an escape from the oblivion of poverty in the American South. Yet his quest was cultural as well as financial.
Later Elvis read obsessively, seeking out such books as The Impersonal Life, Joseph Brenner’s guide to self-discovery and Kahil Gibran’s book of fables, The Prophet. In his copy of Gibran’s tome, Elvis jotted down the line: “A singer can sing his songs but he must have an ear to receive the song”.

Mindi Miller Interview with EIN: Mindi Miller was a working actress when she met Elvis in early 1975. She was interested in karate (she performed all her own movie stunts), exploring spirituality and the Bible and so they had a lot in common. Mindi Miller and Elvis bonded over their common interests and soon afterwards he asked her to go on tour with him in April 1975.
She stayed friends with Elvis through the years - along with members of the 'Memphis Mafia' - and attended his funeral.

'Marty Lacker: A Life Well-Lived' & Elvis at American Studio's Interview: It was with immense sadness that last month EIN had to report on the death of our great friend - and a true friend to Elvis - Marty Lacker. We will miss him dearly. Marty is well-known as one of the key members of the Memphis Mafia and also co-Best Man at Elvis' wedding. He was known for both his honesty and being forthright with his opinions. He was the only member of the Memphis Mafia who still watched and commented on recent Elvis News. He started collecting and selling Elvis vinyl over 40 years ago and has one of the world's largest Elvis Presley record collections. Did Elvis Record 'Tiger Man' At Sun?: A question that has puzzled Elvis fans through the years is whether he actually recorded the song ‘Tiger Man’ during his years at SUN studios.
The basic question is why did Elvis refer to 'Tiger man' several times in concert as “The second song that I ever recorded, not too many people heard it”?
And if Elvis DID record it, then why hasn’t any reference to it at SUN or proof of its existence been found?
Elvis would first perform ‘Tiger Man’ in concert at his first 1969 Las Vegas International season and would continue playing it through the years – usually in a medley with Mystery Train - until his last performance at Saginaw on May 3 1977. He would sing it over 150 times on stage! The thought that there might be an acetate or undiscovered tape of Elvis at SUN singing ‘Tiger Man’ is a mouth-watering concept - but is it an unlikely fantasy or strong possibility?
