'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' FTD In-Depth Review: 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' was first released in April 1976 but only reached #41 in the charts. It only featured 10 tracks, recorded at Elvis' Graceland home among them 'Hurt', 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain' and 'For The Heart'.
BUT if Elvis was "Raised on Rock" then why was 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' such a middle-of-the-road quagmire of syrupy overdubs and tepid songs? This really wasn’t the album Elvis fans had been waiting for.
In hindsight we now understand more about Elvis’ depressed emotional state at the time and the difficulties involved in getting him enthusiastic enough to record at all.
But if the single ‘Hurt/For The Heart’ was supposed to be the promo for the album, then fans were surely disappointed. Even the cover pretended it was a live concert album - the Colonel must have been desperate! It is certainly one of Elvis’ worst albums.
Go here as EIN's Piers Beagley discovers a new way to enjoy this Classic Album release

'Hampton on Tour & Bicentennial '76' - New Import: Gravel road Music doesn’t want to end the year without bringing you one really great release. Two Hampton concerts in stunning sound. The "Bicentennial ’76" will raise a few questions for the critics as Elvis sounds way better now with a mastering job done properly. The second disc is a great re-mastering of the famous Hampton ’72 concert, which blows all previous releases of this show out of the water – Great sound, fantastic dynamics and Elvis in amazing voice. A real treat. We gratefully used original transfers from these concerts. Now you can hear many details and nuances not heard previously, and both recordings sounds more vibrant and spatial than before.
This Special limited 2 CD 'Star-Spangled Spectacular Bicentennial ‘76' includes two spectacular Hampton concerts, the first disc contains the legendary 1976 Hampton Bicentennial concert! The second disc contains the famous 1972 Hampton On Tour Concert!
It comes in a wonderful deluxe digi-pack with booklet, extensive liner notes & photos. |

You may have heard this before, but never in this quality.
August 1- 1976 (2:30 pm). Hampton VA. Hampton Coliseum
It was a special year for America. The Bicentennial Year, the two-hundredth anniversary of this great nation. Any American with patriotism wanted to show it in some way. Elvis wanted to spread a positive message about this country throughout this special year, and so he decided to add ‘America The Beautiful’ to his set list.
This concert has never been properly restored and re-mastered. UNTIL NOW!
EIN Note - Interestingly the review by Forest George of August 1, 1976, Hampton Roads was mentioned in original lengthy the publicity - but not his closing words on this 1976 concert.
To quote - "With the sole exception of a rather fun version of 'Return to Sender' (already officially released by FTD on the 'New Haven 1976' release), Elvis Presley needed to be anywhere, but on a stage performing. Majority of the songs were struggles for him just to stay on key. He seemed actually ill, rather than just being over medicated. Unlike some other poor concerts from that year, he wasn't intoxicated enough where he didn't care, as he really tried to make an effort to keep the concert from falling apart. In the end, the concert was one of the worst concerts of 1976, and completely forgettable."
April 9 - 1 1972 (8:30 pm). Hampton VA. Hampton Coliseum. A very special extra concert, Elvis’ remarkable Hampton Roads concert as filmed for "Elvis On Tour" (April 1972). You may have heard this before, but never in this quality. The results are amazing: One of Elvis’ finest shows ever, and now with an ooommpphh that almost places you in the center of all the action. Thanks to the audio improvements, you can hear many details and nuances not heard previously, and the recording now sounds more dynamic and spatial than before.
EIN notes that it is unbelievable that Sony have still not officially released this major concert.

'Prince From Another Planet’ In-Depth Review: Of all the live concert recordings released by RCA during Elvis Presley’s lifetime, none carried the historic significance of his long-awaited New York City shows at Madison Square Garden and now the two RCA recorded concerts and newly found fan-filmed video footage been released in one deluxe package for the 40th Anniversary Edition.
"PRINCE? MAKE THAT KING!" - Go here as Arjan Deelen reviews the new Sony ‘Prince From Another Planet’ package.

'The Bicentennial King Vol. 5' New Import CD: The fifth release by the Millbranch Music label is another complete performance by Elvis Presley in the year of 1976. From May 6, 1976, this very long show (more than 90 mins) would not fit on one cd so this release simply has to be a 2CD set.
Out by December 7, 2012 this will be factory pressed, limited to only 300 copies with an 8 page booklet containing lots of photos and information regarding Elvis´ last concert series in Lake Tahoe. The sound is very good for an audience recording and Elvis is delivering a decent show with some rare songs, being in good spirits. This concert has NOT been released yet on factory pressed cd. All you fans out there know what to expect from Elvis´ 76 Lake Tahoe performances - so if you are interested be advised to get your copy as soon as you can.
EIN Note- Super-collector CiscoKing comments.... One of the best Spring 1976 shows with many rarities and Elvis being in a good mood. A highlight from this time.... We have 2 sources on cdr.. one in a bit better sound and slightly incomplete during the intros.. the other one a hair worse and complete..
The source here seems complete and the sound should be fine, too (for an audience recording) as I have heard.

'Left A Good Job In The City' New Import CD: Straight Arrow is very proud to present 'Left A Good Job In The City', Elvis’ First Show In New York, June 9, 1972. We couldn’t believe our luck when we were offered an original tape as recorded by a member of the audience that special night. For many years there was a recording in circulation that was basically unlistenable. With great anticipation we purchased this new tape, and imagine our excitement when we could hear for ourselves that this tape is indeed much better and clearer, and with a good bass definition. This must be the most historically important audience tape to have turned up in recent years from the concert years. The MSG Garden shows were a true career highlight for Elvis, and opening night on June 9, 1972 was The Night. Moments before this recording started, Jackie Kahane was booed off the stage, but all that was forgotten once Elvis stepped on stage. He gave New York a night to remember. In fact, this may well be the best of the four MSG shows. Elvis’ performance is super-tight and his voice is just incredible. THIS is the show that the New York media all attended; and now, after 40 years, you can finally hear the actual performance that got him so many glowing reviews. |
|
The recording was carefully enhanced by some of the best audio people in the business. By the way, the show includes a stunning ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ – the only time he sang it in New York. Presented in the usual Straight Arrow fashion with topnotch 16-page booklet with photos from all four NYC shows as well as a terrific essay, this new release is a beauty that you can’t afford to miss.

'Chicago Double-Strike' New Import CD: Out next week is the new Straight Arrow release "Chicago Double-Strike", which contains both Chicago May 1 and May 2 1977 concerts from a newly uncovered audience recordings which have not been in distribution previously (completely different tapes from previous Chicago ’77 release). The sound-quality is surprisingly good and you will feel that you are right in the middle of the crowd, cheering Elvis on as he delivers two solid, no-nonsense shows with plenty of highlights. His voice was strong and he was particularly impressive on songs like ‘Fairytale’, ‘Trying To Get To You’, ‘My Way’ and ‘Hurt’, with his voice really soaring on the high notes. Whatever the reason may have been for Elvis ‘upping his game’ on those two nights – some have suggested that it may have been due to the presence of several CBS execs – the Chicago ’77 concerts now stand out as genuine highlights from those final, sad months in the life and career of Elvis Aaron Presley. Both recordings have a tremendous ‘you are there’ feel to them. Presented with true quality, don’t miss this terrific release that will bring you back to those final glimpses of greatness of the greatest entertainer ever. |

'Snoopin´ Round My Door (1955 – 1977)' new 3CD Import set: 1956 is without any doubt the most crucial year of Elvis’ career. The Hillbilly Cat became the King of Rock & Roll during that year. Elvis was the first true rock star, and 1956 is the year where the whole thing just exploded for him. With a fresh RCA Victor recording contract in his pocket, an ambitious new manager named Thomas A. Parker promoting him, and nationwide television exposure to look forward to, the year looked very promising right from the outset. Even though some of the RCA Victor execs expressed concern about the quality of the material recorded at the January 1956 session in Nashville, the first single from that session, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, became a huge hit thanks to his appearances on the Dorsey Brothers ‘Stage Show’. From that point onwards, Elvis could do no wrong. He recorded so many great, classic songs that year, that it’s quite a task to list them all: ‘I Was The One’, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘My Baby Left Me’, ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’, ‘I Want You, I Need You, I Love You’, ‘Hound Dog’, ‘Don’t Be Cruel’, ‘Love Me Tender’, ‘Too Much’, ‘Love Me’, ‘Paralyzed’… the list goes on and on. These recordings define Elvis’ greatness: they are the reason why we still listen to him today, more than 35 years after his death.
Instead of using the regular versions, we wanted to dig a little deeper.
|
|
So we searched out alternate versions from jam sessions, rehearsals, live shows, and in one instance, a re-recording. Most are complete versions, some are fragments, a few are mere one-liners – but they all help in explaining the importance that these songs had on the remainder of Elvis’ career. These songs were so crucial to him that, like it or not, he had to do them on stage. Much has been made of the sloppiness with which he performed some of them in his final years, which is undeniably true, but there are also numerous examples where he did very credible versions of these songs or where he tried to reinvent them.
Instead of telling you what to listen out for and what to enjoy, we felt it would be more fun to make you do the exploring. The fun of releases like this is the surprise of hearing something that you weren’t expecting.
FOR THE FIRST TIME ON CD we present, I Want You I Need You I Love You, July 1971 Lake Tahoe – Old Shep, May 1973 Lake Tahoe – Don´t Be Cruel, February 1971 Las Vegas – Hound Dog (original lyrics), August 1971 Las Vegas – When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again, March 1975 Las Vegas - Love Me, February 1971 Las Vegas and many more. Nearly 120 tracks as you can see below.
This three CD set goes from 'Shake, Rattle And Roll' Live Jan 6, 1955 through to 'Love Me Tender' June 24, 1977. |

FTD December Releases: Three new FTD releases for December.
- '3000 South Paradise Road' - A two disc 7" "Classic Album" type release with 16-page booklet. It takes a closer look at Elvis’ engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton in August of 1972. The main disc is the excellent Dinner show on August 12, and the second disc is culled from the rehearsals on August 4th, the date of the opening of the engagement.
As with '48 Hours To Memphis' this release has been prepared by Robert Frieser and Hans Slebos, who once again has done a fabulous job of collecting information and materials for the project. There will be additional information in the next few weeks.
'3000 South Paradise Road' provides a unique experience of Elvis rehearsing, 6 hours before the opening night at the Las Vegas Hilton on August 4, 1972. As disc 2 is captured on a personal tape recorder, the sonic quality is below standards, but historical significance more than compensates for its audio limitations. Disc 1 is a soundboard recording.
This is a great Las Vegas dinner show from August 11, 1972 with Elvis in a confident mood, giving excellent performances on almost every song, and enjoying being back on stage. Elvis wore a cool range of two piece suits and was up for lots of karate action and with lots of energy. Previously released as the bootleg 'Blazing Into The Darkness'. |

‘Greatest Live Hits of the 50s’ MRS CD Review: This 24 track CD is the most varied compilation of Elvis LIVE in the 1950's to date, containing only the best live performances, making the ultimate live set list of the 1950’s. It features the 8 new recently discovered live fifties rarities plus the CD also contains the unreleased live version of ‘I Forgot to Remember to Forget’ from October 1955.
It’s been a longtime since those first cheap "Hayride" compilations arrived in our record shops and EIN can still remember the excitement of not only hearing the first Elvis Hayride recording but also discovering their first non-RCA Hayride release. Things have come a long way in 25 years and now we are really spoilt.
Any "Best Of" Elvis LIVE must crackle with the power and stunning performances of Elvis and the Blue Moon Boys.
Go here as EIN's Piers Beagley checks out this new MRS/JAT release.

EIN contributor and super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell notes, "The Dinner Show of February 9, 1974 is 'complete standard fare' with zero surprise. The Mobile E/S 29th August 1976 is an improvement upon the terrible A/S but not that much really. Elvis didn't up his performance on this poor 1976 tour until 4th September onwards. Take note there is no info on what the sound quality is like for either of these two release."

'Midnight Delight' & 'Glitter Of The Night Life': Two new CD releases from the "Touchdown" label will be available in November.
The first CD "Midnight delight" included for the first time the complete midnight show from August 19, 1975 in very good quality Audience Recording! The CD will come as you're used to it by now with a 16-page booklet with lots and lots of rare pictures from Elvis' shortest engagement in Las Vegas.
EIN notes, Previously released on various CDRs the show described by super-collector "Ciscoking" was "An average show with Elvis sounding tired. He needed a rest".
The audio quality MAY be corrected with this release.
Elvis was sick at this Vegas season and cancelled after only 5 shows. None have been released from soundboard.
Tracklisting: 1. See See Rider 2. Bathroom Story 3. Blue Suede Shoes 4. Young And Beautiful 5. Are You Lonesome Tonight? 6. If You Love Me Let Me Know 7. Softly as I Leave You 8. It´s Now Or Never 9. Polk Salad Annie 10. Band Introductions Part One 11. Johnny B. Goode 12. Drum Solo 13. Bass Solo 14. Piano Solo |
|
15. Band Introductions Part Two 16. Introduction Of the Righteous Brothers 17. T-R-O-U-B-L-E (with false start) 18. Why Me Lord? 19. Love Me Tender 20. All Shook Up 21. Love Me 22. Hound Dog 23. My Boy 24. Elvis Talks To The Audience 25. Can´t Help Falling In Love 26. Closing Vamp.
"Glitter Of The Night Life" will come as a 2 CD set which offers you on the first CD the former unreleased dinner show from August 10, 1973, in very good sound quality Audience Recording!
The second CD includes Audience Recordings from August 11 & 19, 1973 in excellent quality. The shows have been released before, but at the wrong speed and in a much inferior sound than you can hear them now.
EIN Note - previous releases have all had speeded up sound. This hopefully has now been fixed. |

'With A Humble Heart' new Import CD: Straight Arrow is continuing their popular collector's series of 2 shows from one evening, released in a single package. This time the producers have chosen two excellent performances from Sunday, February 3, 1974 at the Las Vegas Hilton from audience recordings.
On this collection there are worthy performances of revived songs like 'Tryin’ To Get To You', 'Sweet Caroline' and a powerful 'Polk Salad Annie'. The December ’73 Stax sessions are represented here with pleasant renditions of 'Spanish Eyes' and 'Help Me'. 'An American Trilogy' is as powerful as ever and Elvis' passion for Olivia Newton-John’s 'Let Me Be There' is evident too, with the ending being reprised in both shows.
As fans have come to expect from us, the tapes are of very good quality, sourced from early generation copies of the original cassettes. The double digipak contains liner notes and is filled with photos from the Montgomery, AL, March 6th, 1974 show, due to a lack of quality images from Presley’s January-February 1974 engagement. |
|
As usual, these recordings have been carefully engineered to be presented in the best possible sound.
EIN notes that the FTD release 'I Found My Thrill' featured Elvis' Jan 27th Dinner Show from this first 1974 season in Las Vegas. This season was well received and it was here that Elvis added the new songs 'Help Me', 'Spanish Eyes' and 'Let Me Be There' to his set-list. Go HERE for the 'I Found My Thrill' review for more info. |

'Stronger than Pride' New Import VINYL/CD: The first release of the new label "VV", after 40 years... if we look closely at the first Vegas act of 1972, in spite his personal problems or thanks to these we can see that Elvis concentrates on the music to produce great shows. The in-between song chat and banter have gone and each number is delivered promptly without even a pause for applause. The 'NEW' songs introduced do reflect the mood of the man and for sure the rocking days are over but the rendition of the early seventies repertoire is solid and sung with great ability. The Elvis show is short, 45-50 minutes and is basic with little variation in the tracklist, this theme is continued throughout, always including the new repertoire.
Here we present the February 23 D.S. unreleased live audience recording towards the end of the season the closing night. There are no surprises in the tracklist but the show is extremely solid and good, almost supernatural if we consider, it comes

The LP 140 VINYL GRAM is a LIMITED HAND NUMBERED 500 COPIES. It comes with an inside high quality GLOSSY paper booklet OF FOUR PAGE LP sized. We hope you can enjoy this our first product in the way to give life to more of his kind in next future.

'Wednesday Night Roll Over!' New Import CD: It’s All About Elvis! A week into his March-April engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton, Elvis continued to offer generally dynamic performances, filled with good humour and a sense of fun. On the from the Midnight Show March 26, 1975 Elvis incorporated songs from his sessions at RCA Hollywood from earlier that month, all of which would appear on the Elvis Today album. Three-quarters of his two most recent singles received an airing as well, with ‘Promised Land’ sounding frisky indeed. The often-lengthy, angry and too-revealing monologues from the previous summer in Las Vegas were now gone.
Straight Arrow present a superb-quality audience recorded entire show, and it’s a delight. There are commendable performances of 'I’ll Remember You’ (with a quick one-liner of Dionne Warwick’s 1967 hit ‘Alfie’ at the start), 'It's Midnight' (with a funny false start), 'Big Boss Man', ‘And I Love You So', 'Burning Love' and his current top-twenty RCA single, the dramatic 'My Boy.’ Elvis even throws in the seldomly performed ‘Until It’s Time For You To Go.’ Wednesday’s child might have been full of woe, but Wednesday night’s gig at the Hilton is full of go-go-go!

As fans have come to expect, this recording is of very good quality, sourced from an early generation copy of the original cassette. It was recorded by the same fan who taped shows used for our previous release, "AMORE, ELVIS". The digipak contains excellent liner notes and is filled with photos from the March-April 1975 engagement.

‘INSPIRATIONS’ - Classic Album on CD: Back in the early 1980s the K-Tel label released some great Elvis compilation albums. All their releases were advertised on radio and TV, so the impact was huge. Most of the albums became gold or platinum award winning albums. With these great albums many fans were first introduced to the wonderful music of Elvis Presley .
The 1980 gospel album ‘INSPIRATIONS, is, perhaps, the most successful K-tel album that was released at the time. With it’s beautiful painted cover and excellent tracklist, this is one of the best Elvis gospel compilation albums ever released.
And now, 32 years after it’s release, it’s finally available on silver pressed CD, for all the fans who will treasure their first memory of Elvis’ music, and for those who, simply, want a great Elvis gospel album!
The new BOTHSIDES label, presents the original album including 7 great bonus tracks. All bonus tracks (alternate takes) are edited, so now you can hear them for the first time without false starts, studio chat etc. Just the complete takes.

October & December FTD Release News: There will be three new FTD releases in October, two "Classic Albums" and one vinyl release.
1. The major release is 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' as a Classic Album.
Featuring a large number of officially unreleased Jungle Room outtakes, it comes with the usual 12-page booklet featuring Behind The Scenes and memorabilia.
'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' was first released in April 1976 but only reached #41 in the US album charts. Originally it only featured 10 tracks, recorded at Elvis' Graceland home among them 'Hurt', 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain', 'For The Heart' and 'Solitaire'.
|
|
2. The 1974 UK album 'Hits Of The 70's' is also released as a "Classic Album" double 7" release.
The original 12 track album included many songs that had only been available in the UK as singles ('I'm Leavin'', 'Rags To Riches', 'I've Lost You' etc) and was a firm favourite with English fans. Maybe this rather odd choice for release is because FTD's Roger Semon is English and has fond memories of this album. At the time it featured no hits later than 1972 due to the dodgy RCA buy-out deal in 1973. Now FTD release their expanded version with 24 Elvis 1970's single A & B sides plus the bonus track 'My Way' (which was released after Elvis' death). For once the album does not feature any outtakes or unreleased material.
It comes with a 12-page booklet featuring the UK and US single sleeves plus chart information and historic release notes.

'Wild Tiger at the Hilton Vol. 4' new Import CD: The MxF label will release soon the fourth volume of "Wild Tiger at the Hilton' featuring the COMPLETE and UNRELESEAD Las Vegas January 28, 1974 Dinner Show.
After almost five months of rest, Elvis back to the Hilton in better shape and stronger respect the previous season. Elvis appears concentrate and his performance is superb. He delivers a long show, practically 60 minutes. Elvis was very energetic on stage, full of enthusiasm he sang with power and sensitivity, delivering a solid and heartfelt repertoire like the "new" songs 'Spanish Eyes', 'Help Me' and 'Let Me Be There' and the classic 'Trying to Get To You'. At the same time he introduces the oldie 'My Baby Left Me' plus classic early 70’ songs like 'You’ve Lost Than Loving Feeling', 'Polk Salad Annie' and 'Sweet Caroline'. As you can see from the track list the number of the classic oldies in the show are significant reduced. This season will be the first with the new agreement, Elvis signed two years of contract performed twice at year, but only two weeks at the time rather than the previous four.
The show is unreleased and complete from a first generation copy of a privately-recorded 60-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure. The sound quality here is incredible good, considering it was taped from the audience. Elvis’ voice is loud and clear, the band sounds very powerful with a very good balanced mix and some great James Burton’ guitar solos, the audience is never too intrusive giving instead the real feeling of the concert.
Iin a beautiful four panel digipack with a collection of photos taken during the Season.
The recording excellent quality and the superb show give to Wild Tiger At The Hilton vol.4 the status of UNIQUE. |

|
Elvis returned to Nevada in very good form when compared to his final shows of 1974. He included several cuts from soon-to-be-released "TODAY" album rather than some of his usual oldies. Presley's shows were shorter than his previous Vegas visit in August and September because he kept banter to a minimum. On this collection there are worthy performances of "And I Love You So", "It's Midnight", "Big Boss Man", "Burning Love" and the powerful "My Boy". There are also some rarities, like a one-liner of "Rip It Up", "Tiger Man" not performed as a medley with "Mystery Train," and "Hawaiian Wedding Song" sung exclusively by Sherrill Nielsen.
As fans have come to expect, the tapes are of very good quality, sourced from early generation copies of original cassettes recorded by the same fan. The double digipak contains liner notes and is filled with photos from the March-April 1975 engagement. As usual, these recordings have been carefully engineered to be presented in the best possible sound.

'Elvis BY REQUEST' debuts at #4 on ARIA Album chart in Australia: The latest ARIA Album Chart will be released later today with the new Australian 'Greatest Hits' at #4! This is the same highest Elvis chart entry position since 'ELVIS: 30 #1 Hits' in 2002. Of course this time fans had to pre-purchase to receive their free "named" poster, which would create some excellent first week sales.
Apparently all Sony USA sold of the "I Am An Elvis Fan" 35th Anniversary release was 3,330 copies despite all the multi-media promotion.
Congratulations to Tim McLean of Sony Australia Marketing.
Well done Aussies!

'Unedited Masters - Hollywood To Nashville 1972-1980' New Import CD: The new volume in the "Unedited Masters" series sub-titled "Hollywood To Nashville 1972-1980" is out now. According to their flyer this is the best of that series with several "firsts" such as the overdubbed version of "It's A Matter Of Time" taken directly from studio tape instead of a scratchy acetate, an X-rated ending of "the first take" of "Fool", first release of the 1980 re-recording of "For Ol' Times Sake" which is one of their best re-recording but still unreleased to this day.

SONY/FTD Elvis Week 2012 Presentation: This year’s presentation unfortunately revealed a few less surprises than in previous years. The discussion was mainly around the upcoming ‘Madison Square Garden’ 40th anniversary release.
Ernst however did talk about how he tracked down the rehearsal tape for the FTD ‘From Hawaii To Las Vegas'‘ and how the same fan happened to have the unreleased footage of Elvis at MSG for 'Prince From Another Planet'. The guy was sitting in the 8th row - and the footage is very good.
Ernst Jorgensen still proved himself as the Elvis treasure hunter. (See EIN interview here)
Ernst Jorgensen also confirmed, "There is no decision that anything that exists of Elvis shouldn’t be available. Whether it be in documentaries or smaller projects - or a full scale production like ‘YMWTBB’ or projects like MSG."
Jamie Aron Kelley appeared to show the crowd the "Tupelo" box-set to much amusement and you hear the explanation of |
|
how the tapes for the new box-set were found.
Ernst.J. - "We can only do this if we can share these Elvis discoveries."
Roger Semon talked about the joy of repackaging Elvis’ product to make them truly representative of the key Elvis’ performances.
John Jackson, Vice President of A&R and Development for Legacy/Sony also talked about the excitement of these new Elvis projects.
They then showed the 23 minutes of film synced to Elvis’ 1 hour MSG performance. There are however gaps due to the film being changed - but it presented as a whole concert with nothing edited or missing from the taped footage.
The Elvis Week fans were showed an excerpt of the MSG footage but due to legal reasons it could not be filmed for our viewing pleasure – Just buy it - Click here!! Only $37!
It is revealed that the guy (Don Lance) worked at the Hilton and just left his tape recorder on a table when he heard Elvis and his band was rehearsing and would go back to pick it up later!
He offered his tapes to RCA and Joan Deary in the 1980s but they weren’t interested!!
As for the ‘I Forgot to Remember to Forget’ wire recording Ernst said, "The minute it hits YouTube it became Public Domain" which is a problem. He did not reassure the fans that he had bought the copy, although you can hear his frustration that it was discovered too late to put onto his fabulous "Boy From Tupelo’ box-set.
BEST NEWS is that we do know that at least 2 more Elvis rehearsals will be released on FTD relatively soon!
As always EIN thanks Elvis Sessions (see previous years here) and also Paul Sweeney for the great info.

'ELVIS SINGS THE BLUES' new import CD: As has been often discussed on EIN, Elvis has never been properly represented with a quality BLUES compilation.
Now an import release promises in their publicity ... This ultimate blues album was only released in the 1980s in the RCA Club Series in a limited edition of only 1000 copies. It's almost impossible to find a copy these days, and then only if you are willing to pay between 80-100 euro.
But now this classic album is finally available in it's original form ( so including the rare electronic stereo version of New Orleans and the mono versions of Mess Of Blues and I Feel So Bad).
Released in a stunning digipack with original sleeve notes and great 'bluesy' pics, this release also contains great bonus tracks to create the one and only ELVIS BLUES album!
Tracklist: 1. When It Rains, It Really Pours, 2. New Orleans ( Electronic Reprocessed STEREO ) *, 3. It Feels So Right 4. A Mess Of Blues ( MONO Master )*, 5. Like A Baby, 6. Reconsider Baby, 7. I Feel So Bad ( MONO Master )* 8. Give Me The Right, 9. Beach Boy Blues,

EIN Comment: Most of the Top 40 could have been predicted. It’s great to see the fondly remembered pop song, Judy, in the list, the 70s Vegas power ballad, Just Pretend, and similarly, the fantastic mid 70s rocker, Promised Land. We do find it surprising that these made the list as Judy will really only be known by older fans (who are more unlikely to have voted online), Just Pretend was an album cut although admittedly visible in the Elvis: That's The Way It Is DVD, and Promised Land hardly made a ripple “downunder” on its release as a single, failing to hit the National Top 40. As for the even more surprising inclusion, the ”uninspired” (as not unreasonably assessed by musicologist, Robert Matthew-Walker), I Miss You…….surely questions will be asked about the veracity of the list!
The unusual inclusions are possibly explained by the fact that only around 5,000 votes were cast in selecting the Top 40. The track listing is:

1. An American Trilogy
2. If I Can Dream
3. Suspicious Minds
4. Always On My Mind

'Amore, Elvis!' New Import CD: Straight Arrow is continuing their collector's series of 2 shows from one evening, released in a single package. This time the producers have chosen two excellent performances from Saturday, March 29, 1975 at the Las Vegas Hilton.
As usual, these audience recordings have been

'A Boy From Tupelo' FTD Tracklist Announced: FTD have finally announced the tracklisting for upcoming deluxe SUN book set.
"A Boy From Tupelo - Complete 53-55 Recordings" includes for the first time in one collection every known Elvis Presley SUN master and outtake, plus two private records Elvis paid for with his own money, as well as thrilling radio and concert performances from the period. This 3 CD package features 10 previously-unreleased cuts.
All audio has been re-mastered and restored as best we could, but Disc 3 has pretty rough audio.
FTD has noted that the 3 CD package features 10 previously-unreleased cuts. EIN had been informed unofficially that the following songs have been mastered for the project. 'Little Mama', 'Heartbreaker', 'Heart of Stone', 'Blue Moon of Kentucky', 'Shake, Rattle & Roll' plus the already announced by Ernst 'That’s All Right' from Meridian. The studio outtakes feature more of 'When It Rains, It Really Pours’, How Do You Think I Feel' (Sun rehearsal) as well as new versions of 'Harbor Lights'.
Surprisingly this is the first official RCA release of Elvis' original 'That's All Right' without the added RCA echo.

'Prince From Another Planet' More Details: A glimpse at the new Madison Square Garden 40th Anniversary release. Looking at a career that had more artistic and commercial triumphs than most in the 20th century, one could be forgiven for thinking that Elvis’ run of four shows at Madison Square Garden on June 9-11, 1972 was just another one of these big events. But for Elvis, it wasn’t. Back in February, in his Las Vegas hotel suite, he took his friend, singer Tom Jones to one side, and shared his concerns. Elvis’ main anxiety stemmed from his legendary appearance on The Milton Berle Show on June 6, 1956 that was deemed ‘scandalous’ by most of the media who voiced outrage over his vulgar gyrating performances. |
|
The New York media was definitely in the forefront of these attacks.
However, Any reticence Elvis had would soon be ruled out as he became the first artist ever to sell-out four shows at the 20,000-seat arena. Elvis had never played in NYC before, except for television appearances on the Dorsey Brothers’ Stage Show, The Steve Allen Show and Ed Sullivan’s Toast Of The Town. The stars of the day flocked to see him. George Harrison meets Elvis backstage; John Lennon and Paul Simon are rumored to be there, a young Bruce Springsteen, Art Garfunkel and David Bowie are all in attendance. But for the sold-out Garden, there is only one star that matters. Most fans have been waiting a lifetime to see their Elvis, and, as he enters from stage right, he is greeted with an explosive roar that has been held in check from 1956 until his New York debut.
On June 9, A press conference was held at the New York Hilton at 4 p.m. In eager anticipation, photographers, TV crews and newspaper men filled the room. Dressed in a stunning blue outfit and gold belt, Elvis entered the room flanked by his father Vernon and manager Colonel Tom Parker. He opened by stating: "I plead innocent of all charges," setting a humorous and disarming tone during the 20-minute encounter. With boyish charm, he made fun of his past, saying how tame he was compared to present-day performers. With sincerity, he avoided questions of a

|
controversial or political nature by stating: "I’m just an entertainer." The press and critics were ecstatic: LIKE A PRINCE FROM ANOTHER PLANET screamed the The New York Times headline, complete with rave reviews, following Elvis’ four sold-out shows. Elvis had FINALLY made it to New York, he conquered NYC and proved beyond doubt that he was truly THE KING OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL!

'Autumn Gold' new import CD: Audionics will release new 2-CD set in early August: "AUTUMN GOLD." It will include the complete South Bend, Indiana show from October 1st, 1974 and a generous chunk of the famous August 16, 1974 RCA Hollywood rehearsal in a totally different sound - binaural stereo, as it was originally recorded. The South Bend date was originally issued in 2003 by FTD (see EIN FTD review here), but "Killing Me Softly With His Song" and some stage dialogue were omitted, and the closing vamp was clipped.
Though Elvis’ personal problems were affecting some of his shows around this time, he seemed to be in fine fettle in South Bend. Overall, this show presents a solid and pleasing performance by Elvis, and though it has been released before, we can now enjoy a more complete and -- most importantly - sonically superior recording of this concert!
The August 16, 1974 rehearsal surfaced on bootleg compact disc in 1995, then officially fourteen years later on Follow That Dream (rehearsal FTD view here). For the first time, Audionics presents these songs as originally recorded, in binaural stereo; and the sound is better than ever before. Unfortunately, the entire tape is unavailable, but all the essential performances are here. It is a real pleasure to listen

tracks like "Softly As I Leave You" and "Twelfth Of Never" in binaural form.
'Autumn Gold' is presented in a great-looking 2-disc digipak with a 20-page booklet filled with photographs taken that night in South Bend and at additional live shows and candids from March, August and October 1974.
All these recordings have been carefully engineered to be presented in the best possible sound. |

'From Hawaii to Las Vegas' FTD CD Review: 'From Hawaii To Las Vegas’ is from a previously unreleased cassette recording of Elvis’ January 25 1973 dress rehearsal for his January/February Las Vegas Hilton season.
The rough audio quality is more than compensated for by the fascinating insight into how Elvis worked in order to create his shows. With little talk, and a lot of music, we are invited to a first row presentation of what Elvis had in mind, and yet he decided to change the repertoire the next day.
Among the many songs is "Separate Ways" a song that Elvis chose to never perform in public - as well as a stunning "Steamroller Blues" and the fabulously rare 'I’m Leavin’ It All Up To You'
Go here as EIN contributor David Tinson checks out this new FTD and discovers if it is a good as hoped for.

An INCREDIBLE find and in BEAUTIFUL quality. This is discovering pure Elvis gold.
Recorded on an early silvertone "wire" recording machine we initially hear Buzz Busby and the Bayou Boys before Horace Logan introduces Elvis, Scotty and Bill and their "modern-day type" new single, 'I Forgot To Remember To Forget' .
It has to be from either October 1, 1955 (picture right) which was 6 weeks after the release of Elvis' Sun single # 223 or perhaps October 29th.
No one, not even Ernst Jorgensen had heard of this undiscovered gold until yesterday.

As with the previous volumes, you’ll again have the opportunity to hear Elvis at his best. Gone are the awful disproportional overdubs and gone is the muffled sound. All that remains is Elvis and his musicians having a ball in the studio, recording some great songs. The greatest surprise must be "Amazing Grace" (take 2). Yes, we know that it has been released before. So we urge you to listen to that version first and then listen to our "blues version", wanna bet you won’t believe this is the same take? We are very proud we can present this version to you, but we feel it’s a shame it hasn’t been released decades ago!

'Christmas Lights On A Friday Night' - New Import CD: Coming soon from the Straight Arrow label a special double cd release - Elvis' Las Vegas December 3, 1976 Dinner & Midnight Shows.
As the final month of 1976 rolled around, Elvis arrived in Las Vegas for what would be his 15th and final visit as a performer, playing 15 concerts to some very mixed press reviews. By all accounts, health and weight issues had unfortunately contributed to a lowering of the very high standards Elvis had once embraced as a live artist. Still, the fans always came, and sometimes Presley showed more than a hint of the magic that made him the greatest singer of all.
On this collection are the second and third appearances of the ten-day stand, and Elvis is in quite good form, including seasonal favorite "Blue Christmas" along with favorites like "Tryin' To Get To You", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "America the Beautiful" and the powerhouse gospel of "How Great Thou Art". As always, his rendition of "Hurt" is thrills both audiences. It was a Friday night to for any fan to savor throughout the holiday season.
|

'Another Saturday Night' FTD Review: Mid 1975 found Elvis back in good form and having fun on stage. Slimmed down and looking great in his new Indian Feather jump-suit Elvis seemed rejuvenated and happy to be back on stage.
As the Memphis Commercial Appeal commented … "It didn't seem to matter what Elvis sang, the audience went wild every time he moved and he made if clear he knew what was turning them on."
FTD has now released the Shreveport June 7th 1975 Evening Show - a previously UNISSUED performance, even on bootleg.
While the set-list may seem a little familiar, Elvis sure knows how to put on a crowd-pleasing show.
Go here as Elvis super-fan Geoffrey McDonnell checks out whether this previously UNRELEASED concert offers anything new for Elvis collectors....

'Lonesome Summer Breeze' new Import CD: In August 1972, Elvis was a lean & mean rock & roll machine. He was still just as good as he was in 1970, but the experience that he had gained since then had made him into a mesmerizing performer. In every show that year you could see that he meant business, and like a starved predator he went straight for the jocular, taking no prisoners and knocking out audiences night after night. He was performing with a consistently high standard, and the Madison Square Garden shows show him at the apex of his performing abilities. The show on this disc was recorded roughly two months later, and the same high standard is obvious right from the get-go. This topnotch audience recording from the Straight Arrow label dates from Friday, August 25th, 1972 (Dinner show). Elvis could do no wrong in this period of time, and thankfully, someone was there to capture it all. This previously unreleased concert was taped by the same super-fan who recorded the concerts that were released on "LABOR DAY MADNESS" and "WATCHING DREAMS TURN INTO ASHES". |
|
As you have come to expect from us, the recording is of very good audio quality, sourced from a first-generation, 1981 cassette copy of the original mono tape. Small portions of the show were skillfully repaired using secondary source to make the recording complete. If you liked this label's previous 1972 releases - then brace yourself, because this is a keeper! |
1. Intro/Also Sprach Zarathustra - 2. C.C. Rider - 3. Johnny B. Goode - 4. Proud Mary - 5. Until It's Time For You To Go - 6. You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - 7. You Gave Me A Mountain - 8. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' - 9. Polk Salad Annie -10. What Now My Love - 11. Fever - 12. Love Me - 13. Blue Suede Shoes - 14. Heartbreak Hotel - 15. All Shook Up - 16. Little Sister / Get Back - 17. Love Me Tender - 18. Walk That Lonesome Road (J. D. Sumner and the Stamps) - 19. Suspicious Minds - 20. Introduction of musicians - 21. My Way - 22. A Big Hunk O' Love - 23. An American Trilogy - 24. Can't Help Falling In Love - 25. Closing Vamp / Announcements.

'Elvis By Request' Australia's "Best Of" CD outsmarts 'I Am An Elvis Fan'!: EIN has now had confirmed that the Australian 'Best Of' collection will be a 40 track double CD compilation which has (possibly!) been in the planning stage before the 'I Am An Elvis Fan' international version!
Australians will also be able to select their favourites to be included on the 40 track set from every Elvis Master.
This is also going to be promoted via the 'Golden Oldies' type radio stations and with TV promotion as well. Thus hitting, and making a mark, on the 'General Public' rather that the EPE subscribed Elvis fan.
The concept is to wake up the "General Public" to Elvis’ on going popularity as the 35th Anniversary approaches.
The voting promotion is from June 4 until Friday July 13.
Pre-order the CD online before July 13 and your name will be included with other Australian fans on an exclusive fan edition poster – included with the CD.
Fans outside Australia may order the CD unfortunately only residents of Australia will receive the exclusive poster.
The poor timing we noted below was just an unfortunate slip.

‘Pure Gold For Your CD Collection’ New Import CD: Pure Gold was a 1975 compilation album released as part of RCA's budget "Pure Gold" series of albums. Though at this point in his career Presley was focused more on the country music market, this compilation focuses more on earlier material than his 1970's hits.
"Kentucky Rain", "Fever", "It's Impossible", and "In The Ghetto" are true stereo mixes. All other tracks are in "electronically reprocessed" stereo. When this album was eventually issued on CD for the first in the early 1990s, the 6 songs from the 50's were restored to original monaural sound. The album wasn't a strong seller when it was first released in 1975.
It was certified Gold on 9/12/1977, Platinum on 3/20/1988 and 2x Platinum on 3/27/1992 by the R.I.A.A.
The front cover photo features Elvis from his ' Aloha from Hawaii' concert in 1973.

Four New June FTD Releases: The following FOUR releases have been announced by FTD for late June. GO HERE FOR FULL TRACKLISTINGS AND DETAILS
'G.I. Blues Vol.1' Classic Album – The long-awaited first volume of G.I. BLUES material in the classic album series. As always in a 7" inch digi pack format with booklet. However like the ‘Jailhouse Rock Classic album’ the first volume will be without the In-and-Outtakes section, which will be featured in Volume 2 and will summarize all the G.I. Blues recordings. A lot of effort (and money) has gone into making these the best sounding G.I. Blues recordings ever.
‘From Hawaii To Las Vegas’ (Unreleased 1973 Rehearsal)- The new 5" digi pack release ‘From Hawaii To Las Vegas’ is from a previously unreleased cassette recording of Elvis’ January 25 1973 dress rehearsal for his January/February Las Vegas Hilton season. The rough audio quality is more than compensated by the fascinating insight into how Elvis worked in order |
|
to create his shows. With little talk, and a lot of music, we are invited to a first row presentation of what Elvis had in mind, and yet he decided to change the repertoire the next day. Among the many songs is "Separate Ways" – rehearsed with and without the orchestra - a song that Elvis chose to never perform in public. This will be a fabulous collectors’ release.
The one track ‘I'm Leavin' It All Up To You’ was previously released on the FTD ‘Stage Rehearsal’ and was one of the best tracks on that compilation. The audio quality was pretty good as we noted in our review "Elvis tries it out in rehearsal and it’s another spontaneous Elvis moment, luckily captured in pretty good sound – the best quality bonus track here."
Tracklist: 1) Something 2) You Gave Me A Mountain 3) Steamroller Blues 4) My Way 5) Love Me 6) It’s Over 7) Blue Suede Shoes, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry 9) Welcome To My World 10) I’ll Remember You 11) Long Tall Sally/Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On 12) An American Trilogy 13) A Big Hunk O’ Love 14) I’m Leavin’ It All Up To You 15) Faded Love 16) I Can’t Stop Loving You 17) Separate Ways
|
|
– with band 18) Separate Ways – with band and orchestra 19) Bridge Over Troubled Water 20) Can’t Help Falling In Love - incomplete Recorded on stage January 25, 1973 at the Las Vegas Hilton.
‘From Memphis To Hollywood’ Book: Hot on the heels of WELCOME HOME ELVIS comes its sequel, another Flaming Star production written by David English, which brings Elvis from Memphis back to the movie making business in Hollywood, and the actual production of G.I. BLUES. As with WELCOME HOME ELVIS the book features an album – this time not surprising the newly found original mono LP master for G.I. BLUES. As with its predecessor, the book is filled to the brim with great, rare and informative photos and documents.

'A Boy From Tupelo - Complete 53-55 Recordings' More News: Elvis collectors' holy-grail 'Little Mama' is included. Out in AUGUST 2012 the deluxe book + 3CD set has been announced for August release. For over five years “Follow That Dream” /Sony Elvis Committee president Ernst Jorgensen has been working on the Definitive Elvis At Sun Records & book, which is possibly the most ambitious project of his entire career. The Genesis of rock n roll has to be the combination of Elvis and the Memphis based Sun Records Company, and at last this outstanding labour of love is about to be published.
This will be no ordinary volume of facts and figures. It will be a massive superlative Elvis Presley production including the rarest of pictures, recording data, the real story behind Elvis’ time at Sun with unique Elvis artifacts, photographs, together with a companion of Elvis Sun recordings on THREE CDs which will excite your senses.
FTD has noted that the 3 CD package features 10 previously-unreleased cuts. EIN has been informed unofficially that the following songs has been mastered for the project. 'Little Mama', 'Heartbreaker', 'Heart of Stone', 'Blue Moon of Kentucky', 'Shake, Rattle & Roll' plus the already announced by Ernst 'That’s All Right' from Meridian.
|
|
The 'Little Mama' acetate audio which was believed to be unrepairable, is better than expected.
The studio outtakes feature more of 'When It Rains, It Really Pours’. The official full tracklisting has not yet been announced.
The accompanying book is, in essence, a fully-illustrated travelogue. It thoughtfully details the birth of Elvis' career through.

Wild Tiger in Concert: The MxF label will release soon the first volume of “Wild Tiger in Concert" featuring the Long Beach, November 14, 1972 Show. The November Tour represent the third tour of a busy year, Elvis in 1972 is still a rocking Elvis but without any doubt it is the last year with Elvis is still on the top of his shape.
For this reason his performance is superb, in spite some fatigue and maybe some worries about the imminent Hawaii TV satellite Show, Elvis is very energetic on stage, full of enthusiasm and he sings with power the classic repertoire of the 1972 including the incredible “new rocker single” “Burning Love”. |
|
On stage you see an impressive figure in his Aztec star blue jumpsuit and golden cape, the rocker attitude still intact, his voice is great, the atmosphere enormous, the demand terrific, 28.000 lucky people attended at the two shows of Long Beach.
The show was previously released in a substandard quality using an unknown generation copy of the tape released by the Tiger label way back in 1991. Here we present the show directly from a first generation copy of a privately-recorded 60-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure. The improvement is incredible, the sound quality here is incredible good, considering it was taped from the audience. Elvis’ voice is loud and clear, the band sounds very powerful in very good balanced mix with some great James Burton’ guitar solos, the audience is never too intrusive giving instead the real feeling of the concert.
Like its predecessors, this new release will be presented in a beautiful four panel digipack with a collection of photos taken during the actual show. As bonus the first 500 copies will come with a poster 24x12 cm. The recording excellent quality and the superb show give to Wild Tiger in Concert the status of UNIQUE. Don’t miss it!!!!

Paying the Dues in Tahoe: TOUCHDOWN PRODUCTIONS proudly presents a recently discovered complete and much better sounding source from the midnight show October 13, 1974 including the former unreleased 'Let Me Be There'. After the mediocre September/ October Tour Elvis is back in decent form and delivered a real good show at the Sahara Hotel. The sound quality is very good for a show that was recorded from the audience.
Also Sprach Zarathustra / See See Rider / I Got A Woman/ Amen / Greeting The Audience / Love Me / All Shook Up / Teddy Bear - Don't Be Cruel / Heartbreak Hotel / If You Love Me, Let Me Know / Fever / Big Boss Man / It's Midnight / Hound Dog / Joking With The Audience / Introductions Pt.1 / Lawdy Miss Clawdy / Introductions Pt.2 / Why Me Lord / I'm Leavin` / Johnny B. Goode / Hawaiian Wedding Song / Let Me Be There / Can't Help Falling In Love. All tracks recorded on October 13, 1974 in Lake Tahoe at the midnight show. (News, Source: Elvis News) |

Three new FTD Releases for late April: Three new FTD releases have been announced for late April release, one soundboard, one book and a double-vinyl Promised Land.
- 'Another Saturday Night' 1975 soundboard: A previously unreleased concert, from June 7 1975 Evening Show not even on a bootleg audience recording, plus three well-chosen bonus tracks! If one place is to be picked as the most important in the career of Elvis Presley, it is without doubt Shreveport in the northwest part of Louisiana. The exposure that Elvis got through the radio broadcast of The Louisiana Hayride in 1954-56 was one of the key factors of establishing the early part of his career. With the exception of Las Vegas, there is no place where Elvis played more shows, and his return to the city in 1975 was like a homecoming to both Elvis and the many fans he had there since he started out. We have chosen to release the soundboard from the evening show of June 7 – definitely a show that Elvis and the audience truly enjoy, and with a great set list featuring old and new favourites.

'Vegas Variety Volume 9' new 1976 Import CD: Out Now is Rainbow Records' Vegas Variety Volume 9, bringing the complete audience-recorded performance of December 11, 1976 Dinner Show at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, Nevada.
Rainbow Records is able to deliver the third to last Las Vegas performance Elvis ever did. This time the guys from RR managed to obtain the original cassette tape with a recording from this very evening. The fan who recorded the show in 1976 knew exactly how to do it and used two microphones and a very good recorder – so you can expect to hear the show in really good sound.
It is important for many Elvis-Fans to have every show Elvis ever performed in their collection. Unfortunately there is no soundboard or professional recording available for every show. But still we are fortunate enough to hear most of the concerts because of the private recordings many fans did when they visited Elvis in Las Vegas and on his many tours. Those recordings might sound a bit rough to some ears but they are what they are: A document of Elvis´ big output of live performances.
As usual a very high quality booklet comes with this release. It has a lot of rare pictures from exactly this show (Dec. 11, 1976 DS) and information

'Elvis Forever - The Complete Collection' Vols 3/4 Out Now: Released in 1974 the double album 'ELVIS FOREVER' (volume 1) is probably the best-selling Elvis compilation album of all-time (at least in Europe) .
In Germany 1.000.000 copies were sold within a year of its release, in Finland it became the biggest selling 'greatest hits' album ever, in Belgium it sold more than 270.000 copies and in Holland it was one of the very few Elvis albums that went straight to number 1 on the charts ( in 1974 ). By the end of the 1970's the original FOREVER album had sold more copies than UK's '40 GREATEST', without even being released in the UK or US (more than 5 million copies).
After the huge success of FOREVER volume 1, RCA decided in the 1980's to release 4 more volumes in the FOREVER series. Although they sold well, they never became the huge success of the first volume.
'Elvis Forever Vol.1' was released on CD by RCA as a double cd album and as a single cd album (with 30 tracks instead of the original 32). |
|
Volume 2 was also released, in 2 different versions, but both editions contained only 31 tracks and not 32 . The CD version of Elvis Forever Vol.2 with the original album cover (released in Holland ) is almost unfindable these days, and the CD version promoting the 'Elvis Eau De Toilette' (only released in Germany with a totally different cover) is also a rarity.
All the other volumes in the FOREVER series are unreleased on CD - Until now!
We are very proud to announce the COMPLETE collection of original ELVIS FOREVER albums on fabric silver pressed cds (Not CDRs)
Housed in stunning 3 panel digipacks with original album artwork, each FOREVER volume contains 2 discs with the 32 original album tracks plus a bonus disc with rare and hard to find recordings (some tracks are even unreleased on official CD releases). With a total of 50 rare bonus tracks, this collection of 5 double-albums has a total of 210 tracks! A massive and ultimate Elvis collection!!
But there's more....... When you buy Elvis Forever Vols 3&4 , you'll receive a FREE stunning cardboard storage box, so when you have collected the complete series you can storage them all in one beautiful box! |

'The Hillbilly Cat Returns' new Import CD: Graceland Records next CD release is the follow up to 'The Hillbilly Cat Live', a digipack with gorgeous photos and liner notes plus technical information. It features one of the best shows from his August Las Vegas engagement, namely the August 24th, 1970 midnight show, taken from the original unspoiled – a tremendous audience recording!
The Press release notes... After the success of "The Hillbilly Cat Live" volume 1 we decided to give you the other Elvis show also. Again directly taken from the original master tape created in 1970 for the double vinyl release "The hillybilly Cat "live" This second show is entitled "The Hillybilly Cat returns", volume 2. The best title to link it to "The Hillybilly Cat Live ! Together you'll have the complete vinyl lp release on two CDs and MUCH MORE , the complete shows in their original form!
By now we can state that these recordings now sounds significantly better than they it did on the 1970 vinyl bootleg.
The historic.. THE HILLBILLY CAT "LIVE"! Is a sought after double lp from Canada, featuring two 1970 Vegas shows (August 23 DS and 24 MS) Edited together as one powerhouse performance.
|
|
Many believed at the time that it was a soundboard recording, but it was simply a great stereo tape, made from a front, center table. Now for the first time, hear it straight from the original tapes, enhanced using 21st-century techniques.
The August 24 Midnight Show is the complete tape, which was only partly released on the original double album. This show is a little more serious but with Elvis on top of his game and in great spirits, as the Hollywood cameras were gone.
Listen for perhaps one of the rarest songs in complete form "When The Snow Is On The Roses", a tender love song originally recorded by Ed Ames, who as it was, present during this show. It's unique to point this out since Elvis rarely did something outside of this own songbook. All songs are getting the royal Elvis treatment so this show is one to take serious!
No wonder it became part of the first, and most legendary Elvis bootleg LPs!
EIN notes - Hopefully the quality is improved over the "When The Snow Is On The Roses" BMG version released over ten years ago on the "Live In Las Vegas' box-set |

'Just One More Smile' new 1977 Import CD: From the new label Convair we can expect a rare recording of one of the last live performances Elvis ever did. June 23rd 1977 - From an Audience Recording - this release is for the collectors. Accompanied by a 20 page booklet telling the story of Elvis´ last tour in words and pictures plus having two different concert reviews from this concert in Des Moines this is a nice collectors-package. Although the sound of the recording is far from perfect to many ears it has to be said that the tape-source of this first CONVAIR cd is new and significantly better than known so far from circulating cdrs. - OUT MARCH 9, 2012:

Watching Dreams Turn Into Ashes: As Elvis wound down his seventh visit to Las Vegas, he probably felt a mixture of elation, depression and nervous anticipation. The shows in August and September 1972 were sold out, professional and well-received. He looked great and sang like a bird, as these two previously unreleased sterling performances on September 2 clearly prove.
But in mid-August it was reported he had filed a divorce action in Santa Monica Court from his wife Priscilla. Then, immediately prior to his closing show, Elvis participated in a press announcement for a January 14 worldwide satellite broadcast of "Aloha From Hawaii" to an estimated total TV audience of 1.4 billion people. 1973 would be a year of enormous highs and tremendous lows, as Elvis began to watch his dreams turn into ashes. |
|
These previously unissued Dinner and Midnight sets are taken from 24-bit digital transfers of the first-generation copies of privately-recorded cassettes. They were recorded by the same fan and are presented in superb monaural sound.
Like its predecessors from Straight Arrow Special Products mini series, this new release will be presented in a beautiful digipack with all the necessary information as well as a collection of photos of Elvis in his "Blue Swirl suit" suit as taken at the Hilton in late August / early September 1972.
If you liked Straight Arrow's previous outing "BEFORE DARKNESS FALLS", you will like this one, too!

'Into The Light' new Import CD: Touchdown Productions new CD is the unreleased audience recording of the Las Vegas Dinner Show from August 7, 1973. It's the second show of the season.

EIN cannot testify for the audio quality however the concert has been out on CDR previously and sounded ok.

'Elvis Love Songs' special release on CD: From the press release... After the great success of Arcade’s Elvis 40 Greatest (1975), K-Tel England wanted to release a follow-up in 1979. They bought the rights from RCA for 20 well-known ballads and released them on the Love Songs album. From the start, the TV album was a huge success. It reached No. 4 in the charts with sales of approx 250.000 copies sold within 12 months! It was an instant chart topper all over Europe and in many other countries (in Argentina and Brazil it was released as Love Collection). In Holland, it went to No. 18 in the charts. Strangely, this album was not released in the US until 1981, but then it contained only 16 songs instead of 20. Worldwide sales of Love Songs are now approx 1.000.000 copies.
The designer of the front sleeve probably had a bad day (or he just didn’t like the King) when he put together the cover for this album. It’s one of the very few success albums with such a horrible front sleeve, using a blown-up 1970’s Elvis picture. When the album was
|
|
re- released in 1981, K-Tel used a much better picture of Elvis, taken from his legendary 1968 NBC TV- Special. Here you will have both front covers, so you can choose your own favorite.
Despite it’s classic status and the fact that many fans grew up with this album in their collection, it was never released on a properly pressed CD. The 26 songs on this new album (20 original album tracks + 6 rare bonus tracks) are some of the best love songs that Elvis recorded. Suspicious Minds is included here as its the rare version without the horn overdubs and the famous fade-out / fade in at the end of the song. This version is hard to find and only available on a few RCA cd releases.
The bonus tracks include two rare and unfinished master recordings of Almost In Love and My Little Friend, the beautiful take 2 of You’ll Never Walk Alone, the stunning take 1 of Its Easy For You, a differend, unused mix of the master of Pledging My Love and also an alternate mix of Puppet On A String.
This, 500 pressed CD release, comes in a stunning 6-panel digipack with original artwork. It sure looks like a miniature version of the original album. This is the ultimate Valentines gift for 2012! Buy a copy now for your own collection or as a perfect Valentine's gift for the one you love!

'Late Night In LA' new Import CD: In early February the new label 'Verve' will release their first CD which will contain a much improved version of Elvis show from May 11, 1974. The first release of this concert was released through the collectors label FTD in combination with a book about the concert. GO HERE for EIN's Review - Annoyingly the speed ran obviously to slow and the pitch was also wrong. When it was released as a single CD there was hope that FTD worked on the show for the better, but once again nothing was done to correct the faults. So here you can hear the show for the first time at the correct speed and the correct pitch. Also we did everything to improve the overall sound quality and as a result you'll get to hear a soundboard that could have sounded this good in the first place.
EIN notes that this "speed-corrected" release was also issued last year by another import label.

FTD new March Releases Confirmed: The official announcement has been made of the up-coming new FTD releases in early March.
1 – ‘ON STAGE – FEBRUARY, 1970’ Classic Album. A 2cd 7" digipack with the regular 12-page booklet. As well as the Original Album (mastered by Vic Anesini) the album will include all of RCA’s multi-track recordings from three of Elvis’ shows.
2 – ‘OUR MEMORIES OF ELVIS’ – a nice surprise as FTD releases a 2cd 5" digipack version of the original albums, with an added bonus of the previously unreleased Volume 3 LP master tape plus six more cuts that series producer Joan Deary had prepared at the time. It comes with a 12-page booklet of relevant memorabilia and photos. Despite earlier thoughts that "Our Memories" was not a priority FTD release, the success of the recent bootleg of the same albums may have changed FTD’s plans.
3 – ‘HIS HAND IN MINE’ vinyl 2-album set. Special Limited Edition 2-disc 180-gram vinyl set.
Elvis Matters also announces that "There will be a separate announcement of book titles" soon.

'Such A Night in Pearl Harbour' - New MRS CD: Memphis Recording Service in association with JAT Productions will release the next Elvis Presley titled ‘Such A Night in Pearl Harbor’ in March 2012. It will contain a completely new re-mastered CD of Elvis’ performance of the benefit concert recorded at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on March 25th 1961 to aid of the USS Arizona Memorial Fund.
The quality is of this concert is far superior than anything of this ever released before and will now be considered, one of the best Elvis concert recordings up until that time. Amazing samples of this will be available in the coming week.
Elvis performs 15 songs and sings every one as if it were the first time he had ever presented them to an audience. This includes many #1 hits and includes classics that were never performed previously or again such as ‘A Fool Such As I’, ‘I Need Your Love Tonight’ and more.
|
|
Also included for the first time ever, is the 30 minute radio broadcast from Hawaii a week before Elvis’ arrival. It promoted the concert for the memorial fund, playing selected tracks from Elvis’ Christmas and ‘His Hand in Mine’ album, released at that time including words by Elvis Presley.
As a bonus, the CD is accompanied by a 100 page hard back book that contains many rare photographs with extensive and informative linear notes detailing Elvis’ arrival and performance in Hawaii.

"The Hillbilly Cat LIVE" new Import CD: As recorded at the Hilton Hotel showroom in Las Vegas, Nevada, August 23rd, 1970, dinner show. Graceland Records is planning a new CD release, a digipack with gorgeous photos and liner notes plus technical information. It features one of the best shows from his August Las Vegas engagement, namely the August 23rd, 1970 dinner show, taken from the original unspoiled – a tremendous audience recording! This recording was partly released in 1970 on vinyl as "The Hillbilly cat, Live", but it was a combined version of 2 different shows, August 23rd dinner and 24th Midnight show. The sound quality was great for the time the time. Rumors were that a professional recording (soundboard) was used. This is not the case; a stereo tape recorder was used directly in front of the center stage. Graceland Records was lucky enough to work with the original audiocassette. These days the possibilities to improve an audience tape are far greater than they were in 1970, so this recording now sounds significantly better than it did on the 1970 vinyl bootleg.
For the first time ever on CD - One of the first bootlegs ever, "THE HILLBILLY CAT LIVE" |

This show is hilarious, wild and loose: Elvis was in great spirits & the Hollywood cameras were gone. The many false starts indicates that he was fooling around and having a great time doing it..
With probably the craziest intro ever to "Hound Dog", a wild and rocking version. With great renditions of "Tiger Man" "That’s all Right" and "You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling"
All phenomenal performances, a sparkling show with no weak spots. Elvis was on top of his game! This is definitively one of the finest performances of this season.
Do not miss your chance to obtain another winner from Graceland records!

'Elvis November Tour' 1971: Available from the end of January, Elvis' November Tour (SR Records Special Product) with focus on Elvis' November 1971 tour.
From the Press release: Here we proudly present to you the first of three volumes of SR special products dedicated to the year 1971.
After the first attempt in January 2006 with the import Setting The Standard accompanied with a bonus DVD-r first 100 copies only, the necessity to show Elvis' in live action gave us the push to give shape to this special product series. We accompanied the usual audio concert with a real DVD as we wanted to allow you the possibility to see the man where he reigned: on the stage. Here we present to you the complete Dallas 13th November 1971 afternoon show, although part (about half) previously issued by Sundial Production in 1996 (Kicked it up in Dallas) here you have the chance to have the complete show in a superior audio quality, a digital transfer of the first-generation copy, the sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure. |
|
Together here we present to you a professional DVD (the lucky people who have the Setting The Standard know what we are talking about) with previously released and unreleased footage from the Dallas afternoon/evening shows and for the first time the complete 20:00 min footage of Kansas City.
The DVD will include the three shows along with a series of special features to give you the idea about how the DVD was made. Elvis in Nov 71' was a spectacle to see and for all majority of the people who missed the opportunity to attend to the 1971 shows we think this DVD can demonstrate what we are talking about. Working on such old video-tapes of the early eighties hasn't been easy, we worked for almost one month to give life to 50 minutes of digitally-remastered and edited video.....after a pre-filtered acquisition of the old material we worked for the same time in the restoring of the video-quality and the professional editing of the "NEW" material. All the footage has been digitally restored in order to achieve the optimum image quality. The footage has been synced with audio from the original concert and the 8mm footage speed corrected so that audio and video are timed correctly. We hope the rarity of this video and our determination to make a great job give you the opportunity to enjoy the end result.
Elvis' November tour is, we think, the best moment of Elvis' comeback to live shows, the perfect balance between vocal ability and live wild action; both the Dallas shows together with Houston are the best moments of the tour. So we are glad to give you the opportunity to listen and view Elvis at the top of his prowess.
For the first time on this label, the double set will come with double printed DVD sized sleeve, containing a collection of live RARE photographs of the three shows and all the necessary details. The first 500 copies will come with a bonus collector card. |

'Mahalo From Elvis' New Import CD: Mahalo From Elvis was a compilation album by RCA/ Camden released posthumously in 1978. It consists five (then) previously unissued tracks Presley recorded in Honolulu
on January 14, 1973 for inclusion in the U.S. version of the live concert TV special 'Aloha from Hawaii' (these tracks are not considered "live" recordings, as no audience was present).
The recording of No More, was not used in the special.
All other songs were previously issued recordings originating from the Presley movie soundtracks 'It Happened At The World's Fair', 'Harum Scarum' and 'Double Trouble'.
Camden re-released the album with a different cover and album title in 1979 ( 'The King...')
The original album was certified Gold by the R.I.A.A. on 9/15/2011.
The original album was released in 1991 in Canada by RCA Special Products, but both the sound quality and the quality of the cover print were very bad. This original CD release is now only available on the www for very high prices, and is a true collectors item. |
|
We are very proud to present this album in a stunning 6 panel digipack with superb (original) artwork / sound quality, using the new masters for the original tracklist!
Also we added some rare outtakes of each track, making this finally the CD release the 'Mahalo From Elvis' album deserves.

Sunday 1 January 2012 - - HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our readers |
'Before Darkness Falls' new Import CD & Audio Samples: A new CD from the Straight Arrow label - Elvis' 1973 "Summer Festival" was his ninth month-long stand in Las Vegas since July-August 1969. Reviews noted his excess weight and half-hearted performances. But, despite bad press, health issues and a 1967 marriage that would soon end in divorce, Presley slowly warmed to his always-thrilled fans.
The songs here, from his Sunday shows on August 26th, 1973, are a good example of this warmth. At both shows Elvis welcomed the presence of Lisa, his beloved daughter, then just five and-a-half years old. Obviously, she provided additional inspiration for her dad. In fact, there are several rare highlights, including "A Big Hunk O' Love," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," "Release Me" and "How Great Thou Art." And for fans of legendary bass player Emory Gordy Jr., these would be among the last dates he would ever do with Presley.
Both the Dinner and Midnight sets are taken from a 24-bit digital transfer of the first-generation copy of a privately-audience-recorded 120-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure. |
|
The August 26th, 1973 Dinner show is previously unissued, while the Midnight show was released in substandard mono by Memory Records in 2002 ("Caught In The Act"). Straight Arrow presents both shows in superb, "two-mike live ambience" stereo sound.
Like its predecessors from Straight Arrow Special Products mini series, this new release will be presented in a beautiful digipack with all the necessary information as well as a collection of photos taken during the September 1st, 1973 dinner show.
See below for full tracklistings & to listen to Audio samples of both shows to get an idea about the sound quality (which is very good for audience recorded concerts).

'Promised Land' FTD CD Review: The long-awaited double-CD "Classic Album" version of 1974's 'Promised Land' album. Recorded in December 1973 at Stax Records in Memphis, the original album was released in 1974 and is thought by some to be the best Elvis studio album from the 1970s.
The title track, "Promised Land" was a cover of a 1965 hit by Chuck Berry and was issued as a single and hit number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and landed in the UK top ten.
Unlike the previous STAX classic albums, this time FTD present us with a second disc as "The Making Of" this wonderful album - in a similar style to the FTD ‘Let Yourself Go’ being ‘The Making Of’ the Comeback Special. This means lots of studio interaction and banter as Elvis and the band work-through to the final Masters – and it is a real delight.

Saturday 31 December 2011 Wishing everyone a HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE! |
Elvis Country Legacy Edition – 14 days until its release!: In January 1971, Elvis was well and truly back and on top of his game. During 1970, he chalked up no less than 4 Platinum and 3 Gold album awards and 5 Gold singles. As if this sales achievement wasn't enough, on January 16, he was given the award as one of the "Top Ten Young Men of The Year" by the United States Jaycees. His new album Elvis Country released that same month received critical acclaim.
In an outstanding review for Rolling Stone, biographer Peter Guralnick said: "... Elvis Presley has come out with a record which gives us some of the very finest and most affecting music since he first recorded for Sun almost 17 years ago."
Elvis Country is, obviously, a return to roots. But it's the singing, the passion and engagement most of all which mark this album as something truly exceptional. All the familiar virtues are there. The intensity. That peculiar combination of hypertension and soul. |
|
There is even, for those who care to recall, a frenzied recollection of what the rock era once was, as Elvis takes on Jerry Lee Lewis' masterful "Whole Lot-ta Shakin' Goin' On" and comes out relatively unscathed. He has never sung better.
Elvis Country received an RIAA Gold certification and spent 21 weeks on the Billboard album chart. The single "I Really Don t Want To Know" c/w "There Goes My Everything" reached #9 and #21 on the Billboard country and pop charts respectively. The June 1971 follow-up studio album Love Letters From Elvis also contains songs recorded during the historic four-day Nashville session that spawned Elvis Country, including "Got My Mojo Working" and "Life" (Billboard #53).
This new 2-CD Legacy Edition features both these classic original albums plus 6 bonus tracks, including the full version of "I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago," the studio jam "A Hundred Years From Now" and the single "Where Did They Go, Lord" c/w "Rags To Riches," which reached #33 on the Billboard chart. (News, Source: Amazon)
'Late Night In LA' new Import CD: The new Verve import label announced the release of the CD 'Late Night In LA' containing 'a much improved version of Elvis' show from May 11, 1974 at the Inglewood Forum. This concert was previously released on the official FTD label.
The Press-release states...
The first release of this concert was released through the collectors label FTD in combination with a book about the concert. Annoyingly the speed ran obviously to slow and the pitch was also wrong. When it was released as a single CD there was hope that FTD worked on the show for the better, but once again nothing was done to correct the faults. So here you can hear the show for the first time at the correct speed and the correct pitch. Also we did everything to improve the overall soundquality and as a result you‘ll get to hear a soundboard that could have sounded this good in the first place.
Go here to EIN's review of the May 11, 1974 show on the FTD 'Live In LA' and we agree it was at the wrong speed.

'If You Don’t Come Back' New Import CD: This disc is the "lost album" of Presley imports. It has a long history and would likely never have been released if not for the many requests over the years. The version of "Loving Arms" here is worth the price of admission. Never has Elvis been so up-close and personal, as if he's singing in your living room!
The tracks have been carefully selected to retain the "Stax sound." At the time, this Elvis session was an unique blend of country, funk, gospel and rhythm & blues. It was an attempt to reach the mainstream sounds of the day, like Elvis achieved in 1969.
But this time RCA was embracing the famous Stax sound. Enjoy a prime slice of the "Stax sound"!

EIN notes that the deletion of the popular 'Memphis Sessions' release no doubt means that FTD are working on future expanded Classic Albums of 'From Elvis In Memphis' and Back In Memphis for 2012.

SONY (UK) on the 'Living To Love You' Hoax: Back on November 12th, Newschannel 3 said that it has uncovered a new Elvis recording 'Living To Love You'. According to attorney Violet Hinton that recording had Elvis Presley singing. She said the song came from 1976, the year before Elvis died and was verified by voice expert Ed Primeau! (see EIN's November news for the full story). EIN always stated it was a hoax.
A few days ago our good friends at Elvis Express Radio reported that voice expert, Mr. Ed Primeau contacted Elvis Express Radio and declared that RCA Records (SONY Music) had "confirmed" that the voice on 'Living To Love You' was Elvis Presley!
After hearing from EPE on the matter who were surprised to hear such a claim, our contact at SONY (UK) wrote to reporter, Brian Quinn and he states that he has it on very good authority that the 'Living To Love You' recording is a hoax. Now there's a shock...NOT!
Elvis Express Radio have now invited Mr. Ed Primeau the voice expert on the show to answer a few questions. Now THAT will be an interesting interview!

'48 Hours To Memphis' FTD CD Review: Elvis' Richmond show, March 18 1974 on this FTD features a previously unknown multi-track recording. March 1974 was Elvis' ninth tour of the USA and twenty-five performances in under 3 weeks. Freed from the constraints of the Las Vegas Hilton casino crowd, Elvis was in fine form and putting on great shows getting fabulous on-stage feedback from his enthusiastic audiences from the Southern states. Every concert sold out in a few hours and extra concerts had to be added to meet the demand.
This recording was made 2 days before 'Recorded live on stage in Memphis'. It’s a fabulous discovery with the recording coming from a newly discovered, unmarked tape. The concert also gets a deluxe 7" packaging plus 16-page booklet.

‘Elvis Country’ Legacy Edition: Sony Legacy have issued a press release publicising the new January 3rd release.
It includes…
The original 12-song Elvis Country (subtitled "I'm 10,000 Years Old"), debuted January 23, 1971 on the Billboard album chart, peaked at #12, spent 21 weeks on the chart, and was certified RIAA Gold.
In the original Rolling Stone review future Presley biographer Peter Guralnick wrote, "Elvis has come out with a record which gives us some of the very finest and most affecting music since he first recorded for Sun almost 17 years ago." The idea of inserting excerpts of "I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago" in between the album tracks gave the LP a conceptual feel that had never been encountered before. And the songs, from the high-energy rock of "I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" (which gives Jerry Lee Lewis a run for the money), to the big ballads that were becoming an Elvis trademark (Eddy Arnold's "I Really Don't Want To Know" and Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away" among them) that were some of Elvis' greatest performances ever.

|
Elvis Country was a breath of fresh air for most of his millions of fans, and signaled a renaissance of his creative energies.
The new Nashville band had the feel of the Memphis hitmakers of 1969, mainly because their core members were part of the original Muscle Shoals sound which put that town on the map: bassist Norbert Putnam, pianist David Briggs, and drummer Jerry Carrigan. Add in masterful guitarist James Burton - who had become indispensable to Elvis after the two recent Las Vegas residencies - and the scene was set.
There were inevitable contrasts to the tightly structured Memphis sessions, but it ended there. In Nashville, once the song-pluggers put in their suggestions, the rest was up to Elvis, who never ceased to surprise all who were |

present He laid down first and second takes with ease, and then turned around and initiated impromptu studio jams that kept the musicians firing on all cylinders.
It all came to a head on the fourth night. After a couple of warm-ups (including Eddy Arnold's "I Really Don't Want To Know"), they thought back to the country tunes they'd already recorded, and the idea of a country album began to take shape. In short order, Elvis laid down Bob Wills' western-swing standard "Faded Love" and Ernest Tubb's "Tomorrow Never Comes." After cutting Hank Cochran's barroom weeper "Make The World Go Away" (via Eddy Arnold), Elvis and crew moved on to Willie's "Funny How Time Slips Away" and then "I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water," familiar to rock and roll fans of Johnny Rivers, but originally a big country hit for Stonewall Jackson.
Ernst Jorgensen wrote about the session, "Elvis seemed inspired, singing with a passion and soulfulness that recalled Memphis, the band fell in with equal feeling, their confidence and expressiveness growing along with his. Both singer and band were performing out of genre, improvising their own rhythms and phrasing on the spot, challenging each other." To paraphrase Jorgensen, "they had something to be proud of."
