Elaine Beckett -Easy Come Easy Go costar- Interview: Elaine Beckett was born in England, qualified with an Arts Degree and yet was somehow destined to be a co-star in Elvis’ 1966 movie ‘Easy Come, Easy Go’.
The film was Hal Wallis' last movie with Elvis and the circumstances - including forcing Elvis to wear a scuba suit and with only a low-budget - were not ideal.
Elaine Beckett still lives in LA and it was through a connection with her fine work for ‘The Humane Society Of the US’ that EIN managed to track her down for an interview about her amazing career and her time with Elvis.
Elaine Beckett not only worked with Elvis but met a multitude of fascinating people through her life in Arts and the movies..

Elvira and Elvis: Halloween is upon us and possibly our thoughts turn to "Elvira, The Mistress of the Dark". Since 1981, Elvira has become an icon and something of a Halloween tradition, hosting and skewering bad horror movies. Recently Elvira actor Cassandra Peterson was interviewed by Den of The Geek, where she talked about meeting Elvis.
Before she was the famed '80s horror show hostess Elvira, Cassandra Peterson was a Las Vegas showgirl with big dreams.
Elvira: When I was little my influences were, Vincent Price and Ann Margaret. Maybe I am kind of like the illegitimate child of Vincent Price and Ann Margaret. I have a little bit of both of those going on. Ann Margaret was my idol. I saw her in Bye Bye Birdie and I just thought "Oh my god, sexy redhead. She kissed Elvis actually in the movies. I want to be her."
Elvira: I was a big groupie, I loved music. I got to realize the dream of actually meeting Elvis and actually going out on a date with Elvis, so that was a dream come true for me. There was a lot of making out going on, we had a great time.
I met him in Vegas when I was a showgirl, and I went to his room, which was a giant two-story suite at the top of the International Hotel in Vegas, which is no longer there. He sat down at the piano and he sang a song with me sitting on the piano bench with him. I started harmonizing with him, and we were singing a song together. That’s when Elvis said to me "you have a pretty decent voice. Why don’t you get into singing? Why don’t you stop being a showgirl and take vocal lessons? Become a singer".

Elvis was 100 percent responsible for me getting out of Vegas and going on with my career. Elvis said to me, 'You don't want to stay here, this is not a town you should be in.' And I don't think if that would've come from anybody but Elvis I would've done it."
Elvis' advice inspired a move to LA, which is where Peterson auditioned for the role of Elvira. The rest is horror show history. More than 30 years later, she's still casting a spell on her legions of fans.

Mick Jagger Re-Confirms New Elvis Movie: The Rolling Stones frontman, who is producing James Brown biopic, Get On Up, as well as an untitled HBO "music-oriented" series, reconfirmed his bio-pic that brings the life of teenage Elvis to screen.
"I have been asked to be involved in producing a movie on an adolescent Elvis ... so that's in the works," he said.
Over a year ago EIN confirmed that Mick Jagger was a producer on the new Elvis bio-pic 'Last Train To Memphis'.
The rock star is also working on an HBO show which will be directed by Martin Scorsese. "I'm not in it. It's a story I worked on with Marty. It was going to be a movie and then we made it into a TV series. It's fictional drama. The lead character is the owner of a record company and it's about his life."
Jagger said he is "doing fine" following the suicide of his longtime partner, L'Wren Scott in March. "My family's been very supportive, you know. I've had a lot of work to do so that's kept me, you know, in a good way."

Jim Carrey Spoofs Elvis for Halloween: Poor old Elvis! It is truly stunning that 37 years after his death Elvis still has such a major presence in all media. However doing stupid imitations of Elvis has always been an easy option for comedians and for Halloween Jim Carrey was back at it again. This week he donned a red Elvis-inspired outfit with horns for ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ Halloween ep.
Carrey did his best to bring the funny back to "Saturday Night Live" but the skit has been reviewed as "Despite the initially amusing (or was it just jarring?) visual spectacle of Carrey decked out as Hellvis (picture a ’70s era Elvis with curly horns and red jumpsuit), this tedious Jailhouse Rock–style ditty made me never want to touch another pecan pie as long as I live."

In true Carrey fashion he continued the shenanigans with a strange Elvis Presley tribute he called "Hellvis" along with backup singers and a choir.

Alvin Stardust, dies aged 72: Alvin Stardust was one of the more bizarre UK glam rock sensations of the 1970s. The singer with the Elvis quiff, looked like an Elvis Presley impersonator in his leather "Comeback-Suit" and used all manner of Elvis vocal mannerisms when in 1974 he sang his first and biggest hit, 'My Coo-Ca-Choo'. There was no doubt who he was imitating. His hair was luxuriantly bouffant, black sideburns covered most of his pale cheeks and he gazed at the camera with a mixture of sexy come-hither and curled-lip disdain. His only real concession to "glam" lay in the huge rings that he wore on his leather gloves.
Stardust went on to have four Top 10 hits in quick succession in the early 1970s. The most famous were 'My Coo Ca Choo' and 'Jealous Mind', although 'Red Dress' and 'You You You' were not far behind.
His original choice of name was Elvin, melding Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent. Before he adopted the chartbusting persona of Alvin Stardust, he had already had a trial run at pop stardom as Shane Fenton, lead singer with Shane Fenton and the Fentones. The group scored a handful of minor hits at the start of the 60s.
Although Stardust’s successes in the 1970s tended to dwarf the rest of his career, he enjoyed a revival in the 1980s before moving on to concentrate on acting and TV.

Latest Billboard Album Charts: Once again very little new action for Elvis recently on the US charts but it must be getting near Christmas as Elvis 'regular albums creep back into the charts.
'Heart And Soul' drops from 166 to 198 on the Billboard Album Chart for w/e 8th November, 2014. As of this week total units sold are 793,264 units.
'It's Christmas Time' drops from 6 to 10 and 'Merry Christmas, Love Elvis' drops from 10 to 14 on the Holiday Album Chart.

Elvis Imp Derrel Weaver Jailed For Gun Offences: Another case of a crazy Elvis imitator. A UK Elvis impersonator who sparked a 24-hour armed police manhunt that led to a primary school being closed has been jailed for illegal gun possession. (EIN notes, perhaps all bad Elvis impersonators should be locked up)
Derrel Weaver, 60, was arrested in woodland after a domestic incident at his home at nearby Widegates in Cornwall in June. Weaver, lead singer in the Elvis Presley tribute band DW and the Road Rockets, was jailed for five years.
He kept illegal ammunition in his "Elvis shrine" room, the court heard.
Appearing at Exeter Crown Court, Weaver admitted nine offences of possessing firearms without certificates and two charges of possessing ammunition without certificates.

Police locked down the village when he went missing following the domestic incident at his farmhouse. The school was closed and the 75 pupils ordered to stay at home.
Following Weaver's arrest a number of firearms were recovered and they have been disposed of.

'An Evening with Elvis’ Friends and Original Musicians' Tour Update: Back in August Arjan Deelen was proud to announce that he had tracked down Elvis' 1970 drummer Bob Lanning. He was able make a deal with him for an exclusive tour in May 2015. This will mark the first time since 1970 that Bob will be playing Elvis’ music. For the first time, you will be able to hear songs like ‘Polk Salad Annie’, ‘The Wonder Of You’, ‘Walk A Mile In My Shoes’ and many others as played by the drummer that you can hear on the original Elvis versions.
Enthusiasm is already running high among Elvis fans for the 2015 “An Evening with Elvis’ Friends and Original Musicians” shows (featuring a.o. Duke Bardwell, Bob Lanning and Marlyn Mason). 'Bicentennial Superstar' New Import CD: From the TNT Record label, again with a little help from our friends at “Audionics” - a closer look to the extremely busy Elvis in the Summer of 1976. As we all know it was a time when Elvis actually should have cared a lot more for himself than for his fans. Money might also have been some kind of reason to continue restless touring and the quality of his performances were in many cases merely a shadow of the past. Still Elvis´ popularity was tremendous and it seemed so easy to sell out every single show. And so he did on the two nights featured in this 2 CD set.
Show #1 took place on June 30th 1976, and the 16000 fans at the Coliseum in Greensboro absolutely loved Elvis´ show although they experienced that “the pelvis didn´t move quite the way it used to” and that “Elvis Presley is in his forties now” and “has put on some weight in the midsection”. While the fans on the one hand didn´t bother that much regarding Elvis´ weight the press did. Anyhow the reviews were still okay and the reporters finally had to admit that the “Elvis magic” still turns ém on! reveals that Elvis delivers at least a decent and entertaining show. Show #2 is from August 31, 1976 and by this time Elvis´ health problems were visual even for his most dedicated fans. On this late August/early September tour The “King” had a very bad start with terrible performances in San Antonio, Houston and Mobile.

Wertheimer's Reaction To Finding The 'Mystery Kisser': It was back in 2010 that
radio broadcaster Ron Brandon was the keen Elvis fan who discovered the identity
of Wertheimer's famous 'Mystery Kisser'. It was Ron who actually got Mystery
Kisser Barbara Gray and Alfred Wertheimer together on the phone for the first
time since 1956 to discuss that famous night. This would lead to a Vanity Fair
exclusive "The Elvis Kiss Mystery-Revealed!" in August 2011 along with multiple TV appearances and EPE promotion.
When found Barbara Gray, was 75 and didn't reveal her identity for the money or fame. "I just wanted to get my name on the damn picture,". Gray admitted that she become fed up with being known only as the "unknown woman in the wings" with a young Elvis in a stairwell at the Mosque Theater in Richmond, Virginia.
With the death of Alfred Wertheimer, Ron Brandon recalls what it was like to make that incredible phone call to Wertheimer and to reveal to him that the Elvis "Mystery Kisser" was finally found...

Vale Alfred Wertheimer: Wertheimer, who was 84, died of natural causes at his New York apartment earlier this week.
Priscilla commented, "There has been no other photographer that Elvis ever allowed to get as up close and personal in his life through photos as he did with Alfred. I’m deeply saddened by the death of Alfred Wertheimer. He was a dear friend and special soul. I feel he was a gift for all who knew him, especially Elvis Presley."
Jack Soden, CEO of EPE called Wertheimer a great part of the Elvis legacy. "The young Al Wertheimer collided with the young Elvis Presley at just the most unique time in 1956. Al’s photographs captured the beginning of a new era in popular culture and have continued to define the young Elvis over all the decades since. "
Wertheimer had humble beginnings. His family fled Hitler’s Germany when he was 6 and settled in Brooklyn where his father was a butcher. After time in the army he began a freelance photo business and was hired by RCA to photograph singers. His fateful assignment in 1956 left all the other pictures in the dust. He would say later that he received a two-week assignment and it lasted nearly 60 years. |

Among the most famous shots"The Kiss" a photo of Presley nuzzling a woman fan backstage - see EIN story above. Photographs of Presley recording "Hound Dog" and "Don’t Be Cruel," reading fan mail, eating alone, staring out a train window, playing a piano in an empty studio and walking by himself on a deserted New York street depicted a solitude that later was surrendered to fame and mobs of fans.
Wertheimer's photos were about America in 1956, the lunch counters, the trains, the stores where Elvis looked in the windows and wondered if he could ever buy those things. His photos are one of the most important vintage documents of Elvis’ life.
Wertheimer used to say, ‘If your pictures are boring, get closer’ and he lived up to that rule, getting inside Elvis’s world like no other photographer ever could.
He recalled Presley once listening attentively as advisers explained that he needed to stop his provocative gyrating during television performances, to avoid offending parents of the teenage girls who screamed for him. "And then," Mr. Wertheimer said, "when he got onstage, when he had access to that six minutes of glory, singing two songs, he just did what he wanted to."
At a book signing last year, Wertheimer recalled that he shot in black and white because RCA Victor refused to pay for high-priced colour film and processing, uncertain if Presley was going to be worth it. The photographer shot one roll of colour that he paid for himself.

Elvis Palm Springs home auction cancelled: Any hopes of bidding on the former Palm Springs home of Elvis Presley have just been dashed. A public auction slated Saturday for the 1946 home located at 845 W. Chino Canyon was cancelled Wednesday morning.
The listing agent, Jeff Egan stated that the seller had instead accepted a pre-auction offer.
The sale price and the identity of the buyer will only become public record after the escrow closes within the next 30 days.
When the auction price was $2.59 million and the home attracted multiple offers and counter-offers.
Egan acknowledged that the home, which has sat vacant in disrepair for months, needs quite a bit of renovation.
During an open house in February, the carpet was stripped in at least one room, and modern updates were clearly needed. One area of the house retained the king’s fondness for the colour red, which was hue of the master bedroom’s carpet and the tiles in the bathroom.

Looking back at Elvis' final decade of live shows, there are two Las Vegas engagements that stand out: the August '69 one obviously, but certainly also the one in February '70. Most of the oldies were gone from the setlist. It was a very bold move, especially for an artist whose career in the sixties had been marked by boredom and predictability. Released from the chains of the past, Elvis looked and sounded like a man in full control of his career, and he clearly relished the artistic freedom that was now his.
The fact that the music sounded better than before was due in no small part thanks to the two newcomers to the core band; Glen D. Hardin on piano and Bob Lanning on drums.
The two shows have been previously released by the Memory Records label as 'Have Some Fun Tonight' and 'International Earthquake' but were engineered and mastered using obsolete hardware and software

and for some mysterious reason, both shows were even slightly edited.
12 years have passed, and now it‘s time for the ultimate re-release of these special recordings - in a new, crisp, dynamic sound, and with no edits. Elvis' Drivers License on EBay: For sale on Ebay for a "cheap" $10,000 is Elvis' 1968 driving license. Disappointingly Elvis' signature has faded to almost invisible. It is being sold through a "Trusted Beverly Hills Pawnbroker" and the COA says it was (supposedly) given to Angelia Stanley who was married to Billy Stanley.
The COA also states that Angelia Stanley is in the process of writing a book about her life and Elvis.

Tim McGraw Wore Out 1968 Elvis Album: By the time Tim McGraw was old enough to learn how to work a record player, say somewhere in the late 1970s, his very favorite Elvis Presley song was on a 10-year-old album.
"I had an Elvis record that I played," McGraw said in a recent interview. "It had my favorite Elvis song on it. I'm trying to remember the name of the album, but it had 'If I Can Dream' on there. I played it over and over. It's my favorite Elvis song."
The gospel-tinged tune celebrating the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was the closing number of what came to be known Presley's '68 Comeback Special.
McGraw also mentioned other music he was into,"I remember playing Alabama, of course," he said. "And I played it over and over and over again."
Like any good teenage boy in the early 1980s, McGraw admits he really loved Rush's 1981 Moving Pictures. He admits also being under the spell of Top 40 radio.
Back in 2011 Tim McGraw also made an amazing discovery during his appearance on the NBC show "Who Do You Think You Are?" A genealogy expert told McGraw that his ancestors emigrated to America with the Preslar family - the ancestors of Elvis Presley.

Alfred Wertheimer Passed Away: EIN is sad to report that Elvis photographer Alfred Wertheimer passed away earlier today. His collection of images of Elvis in 1956 are unequalled.
"Elvis was unique in that he permitted closeness, not six to eight feet away, which was standard, but right up close, three to four feet away. He was so intensely involved with what he was doing: it was as if he were laser focused; whether he was combing his hair or chatting up the girls, he would be himself. I didn't realize how unique that was. I put Elvis under my microscope and studied him."
Wertheimer's images are witness to an incredible time in the history of photography, as well as to the birth of a star and new chapter in the history of music.
He was a lovely man who always took the time to chat to fans. He is pictured here recently with EIN's Sanja Meegin.

EIN Spotlight on Alfred Wertheimer: Photographer Alfred Wertheimer was a special guest at this year's Elvis Week "Conversations On Elvis". Wertheimer described a few of those moments he spent with Elvis back in 1956 to the crowd but of course the main topic of discussion was the recent discovery and confirmation of the woman belonging to the famous "Elvis Kiss" photograph.
It is incredible to learn that over seven days in 1956 Wertheimer shot over 3,500 photographs of Elvis in the months of March, June, and July in the unbelievable year that "the Memphis Flash" became the iconic "Elvis the Pelvis".
Back in 2009 Vanity Fair contributor Bob Colacello wrote a fascinating and detailed article about Alfred Wertheimer which goes on to explain far more about how Wertheimer and Elvis interacted to get those iconic images - "The First of Elvis".

New FTD November Releases: Four new FTD releases coming out in November, a 1975 soundboard, Something For Everybody VINYL set, Elvis' Christmas Album (Classic Album) and Flaming Star soundtrack album.
1. 'Elvis In Florida – April 1975' - The most exciting release, a new soundboard single disc 7" set featuring highlights from Elvis’ concerts during April 1975. The performances are taken from Jacksonville (April 25) and Lakeland (April 27 & 28). The 12-page booklet features great photos by Keith Alverson and memorabilia.
During his April 1975 tour Elvis was in good form, in a great mood and cracking jokes. We have already had plenty of soundboards from the May 1975 but no complete soundboards from April. FTD's Southern Nights captured the fabulous feeling from this 1975 spring era. (See Southern Nights FTD review here)
The tracklist includes plenty of favourites such as, Help Me, My Boy, T-R-O-U-B-L-E, I’ll Remember You, Big Boss Man, It’s Midnight, Funny How Time Slips Away and That’s All Right.

4. 'Elvis' Christmas Album' - FTD Classic Album
No tracklist or details have been supplied as yet.
There is little unreleased from Elvis' classic 1957 Christmas album September session. There is a known short part of studio dialogue before 'White Christmas' but the main session outtakes have been lost. Perhaps some more extra studio banter has been found on the master count-ins.
There are however plenty of binaural outtakes from the January 1957 'Peace In The Valley', 'It Is No Secret' session etc.
Release date late November - just in time for Christmas.

'Showroom Internationale' New RSD Vinyl: A new vinyl album 'Showroom Internationale' a special numbered 2LP set is to be released for US Record Store Day.
The album will be released as RSD exclusives before becoming more generally available. Now in its seventh year, Record Store Day is an annual day-long celebration of record store culture taking place on the third Saturday in April plus an annual Black Friday (November 28, 2014) event occurring the day after Thanksgiving.
The publicity notes "Elvis Presley - Showroom Internationale 2LP - 180G 12" vinyl. The film "Elvis: That's The Way It Is" provided fans with their first real glimpse of Elvis performing at an absolute peak of his vocal prowess in August 1970. This individually numbered, 17 song, 2 LP set features the King's full August 12, 1970 dinner show and includes 13 previously unreleased performances."
The show is of course not previously unreleased as it is the same performance as released on the recent TTWII Legacy release as well as the Deluxe TTWII set.
While we may already have the concert, the album cover is damn fine!

Tom Jones to Publish Autobiography: Music legend Sir Tom Jones is to release his autobiography next year through publishers Penguin. The Treforest-born singer, who has had worldwide fame and chart-topping hits for half a century, will share stories of his friendship with Elvis Presley, his racy Las Vegas residencies and turbulent TV career in his memoir. The book, yet to be named, is scheduled for release in autumn 2015 with the famous publisher after they secured the deal with Sir Tom’s son Mark Woodward, who is also the star’s manager. The 74 year-old will certainly have plenty to write about – not least about his incredible musical success, which has seen him notch up 36 UK top 40 hits and 19 more in the US. More recently he has won a new army of fans thanks to being a mentor on BBC One talent show The Voice.
But it’s likely to be his personal life which will whip up the most interest, with Sir Tom known for his legendary lothario which once saw him claim to have slept with around 250 groupies during his early days. Despite remaining married to childhood sweetheart Melinda since 1957 he has allegedly had affairs with Mary Wilson from The Supremes and former Miss World Marjorie Wallace. In the past Jones has always stated that he would NOT publish his autobiography as he would "have to write about a lot of things that are better left unsaid."

Mismanagement of Elvis' highlighted by latest Forbes list of the highest earning deceased celebrities: The importance of good investments and commercial undertakings highlight Michael Jackson's ongoing reign as the Financial King of deceased celebrities.
More than five years after his passing, the King of Pop remains royalty among postmortem earners, pulling in triple-digit millions every full year since his death. Much of his cash comes from two Cirque du Soleil shows—Immortal, now one of the ten top grossing tours of all time, and One, a permanent show in Las Vegas—as well as his half of the Sony/ATV publishing empire and his own Mijac catalogue. His latest posthumous release, Xscape, debuted at No. 2 on the charts earlier this year.
While Elvis maintains his second place spot, that he lacked a professional financial adviser during his lifetime (with the Colonel offering no guidance to him in this respect), underlines how wastefully Elvis used his incredible earnings.

On 15 October it was #3 on Pop Biographies/Memoirs list (held off the top spot by two books about current boy band sensation, One Direction), #5 on Musical Genres Popular and #13 on Biographies/Memoirs Rock.
On the Amazon Kindle charts it was was #5 on the best selling Kindle Pop biographies chart, #6 on the Composers and Musicians chart and #10 on the Musical Genres Popular chart.
The ebook edition also peaked at #9 on the New York Times (NYT) best seller list and #13 on the NYT combined Print and Ebook Non-Fiction chart.

2014 - Elvis Presley #2 Forbes Top-Earning Dead Celebrity: Five years after his death, the late and great King of Pop Michael Jackson
continues to bring in profits, topping Forbes’ annual Top-Earning Dead
Celebrities list for the second year in a row raking in $140 million - but with
Elvis Presley still holding second place.
Forbes determined this year’s rankings which ranks deceased celebrities who grossed the most hard cash in the prior year to come up with an estimate of what each artist’s estate made between October 2013 and October 2014.
As last year, Jackson is followed by Elvis Presley whose estate raked in $55 million in the past 12 months. Peanuts illustrator Charles Schulz brought in $40 million. The report notes that much of the newly amassed wealth stems from several factors, including outside parties managing the artists’ licensing and merchandise after buying their intellectual property rights, attractions like Elvis’ Graceland mansion, and the long lasting franchises like Peanuts, which is in production for a 3-D flick, due in 2015.
This year's report has hardly changed from last year’s list, which also had Jackson as the top earner, followed by Presley and Schulz. Other top-earners are actor Steve McQueen, Bruce Lee, model and pinup pioneer Bettie Page and actor James Dean.
Jackson earnings were boosted this year by a highly publicised (but ultimately disappointing) hologram appearance at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards plus a new album Xscape which despite the publicity did not make number one.

popular image, the internationally touring video-concerts and the stream of revenue from Graceland. Elvis' international earnings were bosted last year with his Platinum-selling UK Number 1 'The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song'. And with new owners ABG changing the marketing-base and with the talk next year of an Elvis hologram things will change - possibly for good or bad.

Elvis Palm Springs Home Auction on Oct 25: The Palm Springs home once owned by Elvis Presley, currently being marketed at $2.59 million, will be sold at auction Oct. 25.
The starting bid is still to be established, said Team Wrubleski Meeks Realtors.
The bank-owned house, built in 1946, had been billed as Graceland West before falling on harder times. The ranch-style home sits on 1.75 acres with panoramic mountain and desert views. The gated lot has palm trees, a kidney-shaped swimming pool and a separate spa.
1970 - Elvis purchases 845 West Chino Canyon from the Kroc family for $105,000 and records nine songs in the house. He and Priscilla (and their daughter, Lisa Marie) live there several months a year; the couple divorces in 1973. But the place is no Heartbreak Hotel: Once a bachelor, Elvis adds another 2,000 square feet to the home–including a new bedroom and an entertainment suite.
1981- Four years after Elvis’ death, singer Frankie Valli purchases the home. Within four seasons he sells it to a Japanese investor for $500,000.

1983-2013 - The property changes hands many times over the next three decades, including several foreclosures and lawsuits about who is the rightful tenant. One of the home’s owners, Reno Fontana, begins offering tours of "Graceland West" (as it is now known), and the value of the house ranges from $883,000 to $2.18 million.
2014 -Graceland West, which still contains many of the original fixtures from when Elvis was still in the building, is listed for $2.59 million. Now it just needs someone to tender an offer–and love it you-know-what.

Angry Anderson To Receive Honour At Parkes Elvis Festival: Australian rock legend Angry Anderson will kick-off the next Parkes Elvis Festival, with the Rose Tattoo stalwart to be inducted into the Elvis Wall Of Fame at the event.
Anderson will join some illustrious company on the wall, including Ian 'Molly' Meldrum, Kamahl, Billy Thorpe and John Paul Young, when he's inducted on Wednesday 7 January. The ceremony, which is a free event, is the first official part of the Elvis Festival program for 2015.
Anderson is truly one of the mainstays of the Aus rock scene, having began his career as the frontman for Buster Brown in the early '70s and going on to lead Rose Tattoo a few years later. In recent years, Anderson has become just as known for his continuous charity work as he is for his music career, heavily supporting local youth charities and men's health awareness in particular.

The show on this CD has never been released in any form, and this very decent, digitally restored audience recording gives you a unique perspective of what it was like to experience him in person in Lake Tahoe during this engagement.

It was the summer of 1973 - “Labor Day Weekend” brought thousands of visitors to Las Vegas. No wonder the Colonel agreed when being asked to schedule a special “3 A.M. Show” on Sunday morning (Sept. 2) to fulfill the many requests for tickets. Elvis was so popular in Vegas, it is hard to compare with any of today´s artists. So it is never a fault to say that Elvis was indeed the “King Of Vegas”. For our first release and with all the technical help we could get from our friends from the “Straight Arrow” Label we were able to obtain two rare shows, both from September 2, 1973. Both shows have been recorded with a tape-recorder brought in secretly and have to be called “typical audience recordings”, though clearly ones which are of real good quality for that type of recordings. |

Elvis‘ first tour comes almost immediately after the third Las Vegas season, maybe too soon to give Elvis time to recuperate…from a long and we suspect boring month of concerts in Vegas. The tour was a 8 concerts in 6 different cities. It was a modest tour considering Elvis’ popularity , in fact all the date were an immediately sold out with a wild reaction from the audience. Elvis looked great at the top of his possibility, performing a solid and maybe too short show with the best

of the repertoire of the previous month in Vegas with no new songs added.
In the cd we include together the Tampa show also 30 minutes of Miami Evening show, giving to the listen a wider spectrum about Elvis’ first tour. The Miami show was already released but we have in our hands a straight copy from the original tape, so we decide to add the highlights of the show to complete the bonus cd in the matter to delivery 80 MINUTES OF music.
Both the recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is very good considering the early tour.

TCB Band Show October 24 in Honolulu: .. "James Burton here! I’m really excited about a show we are playing in Honolulu in a couple of weeks' time – October 24th, 7.30pm. Blaisdell Concert Hall, Honolulu.
I wanted to tell you about it personally. We can’t wait to head back to play a one off show at the same site as one of my favourite ever Elvis concerts – the historic ‘Aloha from Hawaii’ special. We’re in the concert hall this time and we can take a little over 2000 people. We are playing for the first time with legendary New Zealand singer John Rowles – who had many hits in Hawaii – especially ‘Cheryl Moana Marie’. He was in residence at The Royal Hawaiian’s Monarch room for many years.

Elvis, the friend I never met who saved my life: EIN discovered this initially confronting but ultimately uplifting story, on the Indian Country Today Media Network website.
The author, John Christian Hopkins (pictured opposite) is a member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe of Rhode Island. He is the author of Carlomagno*. He currently lives on he Navajo Reservation with his wife, Sararesa.
John's story is another amazing example of how Elvis has touched people of different races, color, religions, ethnic groups and creeds:
"I can close my eyes and remember the day my friend died. I was sitting in the kitchen on the stairs that led to the second floor. It was on the fourth step, where I always sat because it had a large window to my left.

My "friend" was someone I had never met, someone who never knew that I existed. But he was someone who touched my life in a profound way, possibly even saved it in those lonely wee hours of the silent mornings when the demons made their play for my soul.
His name was Elvis Presley. It's more than being just a fan. Much more. You see, my mom died in February of 1976, when I was 15. I felt lost, depressed, unwanted. I felt my mom was the only person that loved me, and that I would never know love again. And it got worse.
I had never gotten along particularly well with my father, and that relationship withered and died in the years that followed. He told me he wished I had died instead of my mom, told me when I fell asleep that he was going to kill me. I spent many nights sleeping under my bed, or trying to surround myself with boxes as I slept sitting up in a corner of my bedroom.
The time he stuck a shotgun in my mouth and said he was going to blow my head off, I no longer cared. I just closed my eyes and waited for the gun to go off. The truth is I wanted to die. I used to sleep with a loaded pistol pointed at my head, hoping that I would accidentally shoot myself in my sleep.
It was a dark time when I walked through the shadow of depression, thunderclaps of pain crashing about me and loneliness stabbing at me like searing bolts of lightning.
I thought that I would never know sunshine again. But, through it all, when my thoughts darkened and I'd cry and wish I was dead, there was always one ray of happiness that winked through the storm.
It was Elvis.
When I'd listen to "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" it was like he was talking straight to me. Whatever mood I was in, The King had a song to buoy my spirits. It was impossible to remain sad when I was listening to "Jailhouse Rock" or "I Can't Help Falling In Love."
When Elvis lamented life at the "Heartbreak Hotel," it was like he understood my loneliness. And songs like "Love Me Tender" and "If I Can Dream" spoke to me of other, better times just ahead.
When I was depressed—and that was often—it was usually the sound of Elvis's voice that brought me back from the edge of the abyss. Yeah, we never met, but he was my friend all the same. He helped walk me through a difficult time in my life and he's been there ever since.
Elvis may have left the building, but he'll never leave my heart.

EIN Notes, Elvis gave 27 shows in this season, 26 of which have already been released on various formats. This concert is the only one that is missing. If it is the genuine article in good quality sound then it is an essential release for all die-hard collectors. However the setlist looks very similar to the midnight 20th August show. Todd Slaughter and Elvis - Marty Lacker Comments: I read Todd Slaughter's article (see below) and it is easy for me to tell that he was conned by Parker and he probably allowed himself to be to get access to Elvis. However, he doesn't reveal that he had a strong entree to Parker because of the guy who started the fan club, Albert Hand, who made friends with Parker and who visited Elvis a number of times on the sets in Hollywood. All arranged by Parker because, whether Albert knew it or not, Parker was using him for publicity in England. The same with Slaughter, Parker didn't do anything for anyone unless he benefited from it.
Todd should have mentioned Albert who also once gave Elvis a bicycle built for two that he rode around the movie studio a few times. If it wasn't for Albert Hand, Todd would have never gotten near Elvis.
As for Parker's crap about Elvis being the one who did not want to play England - that's bullshit! It was all Parker because he was an illegal alien and he was afraid if he left the U.S. he would be found out. More than one promoter, including Lloyd Greenfield who was

The first time Jones met Elvis on the set of Paradise Hawaiian, Lloyd was with him and I was standing next to Elvis when Lloyd offered Elvis $1 Million for one show at Wembley. EIN Adds - Albert Hand was the first President of the Elvis Fan Club of Great Britain and in the early sixties visited the US to meet Elvis. He was also founder and editor of 'Elvis Monthly' magazine as well as producing the "Elvis Special" year-books. He later handed over the reins to the younger Todd Slaughter. Albert Hand died in 1972.
Todd Slaughter does honestly describe himself as "a kind of a sycophant". Parker would have loved that, perfect for manipulation!

Todd Slaughter Talks Elvis!: One of the last to meet The King before he died, and friend of legendary manager Colonel Parker, Todd Slaughter has run the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Great Britain for almost 50 years.“I was utterly consumed by him.”
"My dream, was to meet Elvis, and I did it.” In fact, the 68-year-old is being rather lenient with the facts.
He actually met Elvis three times, the last time in June 1977. In six weeks, the biggest star rock ‘n’ roll has ever seen would be dead.
“I’d noticed a decline in his health. The first two times I met him, 1972 / 73, he looked the same, maybe put a little bit more weight on. When I met him six weeks before he died, there was a producer who said to me, take a look at him up close, our make-up lady says it looks as if he’s got six months to live – it turned out he’d got six weeks.”
That last encounter was at Indianapolis Airport, where Elvis presented Todd with an award for being president of the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Great Britain for ten years, and the footage of it, filmed by a news crew Todd had slipped $100, is thought to be the last ever recorded of the megastar. |

“He came out of the plane, he looked very shaky, he did not look well. I then went to see what was his last show and he sang his heart out and did a set that lasted an hour-and-a-half instead of the usual hour. But I came back thinking things didn’t look good – and when it was announced on the radio that he’d died, I really wasn’t that surprised.”
A mechanical engineer by trade, Todd soon found himself sidetracked by the music industry.
“I met a lot of stars, from The Beatles to the Stones, Ike and Tina Turner, anybody who was anybody. And I was kind of a sycophant anyway! I thought it was great if you could meet these people.
“But it didn’t prepare me for meeting Elvis.” That encounter came about after Todd forged a relationship with Colonel Parker, Elvis Presley’s somewhat imposing manager. |

“Colonel Parker was absolutely fantastic (EIN says, see below!), a phenomenal character. He very kindly said ‘you can meet Elvis’,” Todd reveals. "’I’ll arrange for the whole group, at the Las Vegas Hilton.”
While people travelling en masse to the States is a matter of absolute routine now, back in the Seventies it was a big deal, underlining the clamour for Elvis to perform in Britain, something which, famously, he never did.
“Colonel Parker said to me at one point, ‘look, if you want Elvis to come to Britain, you get me an offer’.
“And I did, from a promoter. But it didn’t happen. By then it was 1975 and obviously Elvis wasn’t that well.”
Two years later and he’d be gone, ravaged, it’s commonly thought, by rampant abuse of prescription drugs.
“Back then everything was changing – it was a phenomenal time to be around. All we do now, I think, is duplicate what’s happened before. Music is not as important as it used to be. There’s no excitement about what’s number one.

Nashville RCA Studio A Saved!: Just in time, a Nashville-area businessman has agreed to purchase and preserve the historic recording studio in the heart of the city’s Music Row neighbourhood that had been planned for demolition, a potential outcome that had sparked a broader movement to protect other musical landmarks in a place that proudly bills itself as “Music City.” The $5.6 million sale agreement was announced Friday by Bravo Development, which owns the building that houses RCA Studio A, a 49-year-old recording room that has hosted artists including Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and B. B. King.

" On the first night Felton met David Briggs and me in the corridor outside RCA's Studio A. We stood, just outside the control room door, listening in disbelief as Felton explained that "Priscilla's been buggin' him to come see a session, so Elvis decided he'd stage one." Even though the last album was already pressed and about to be shipped, we would pretend to do a few final touch-ups. Elvis would have a few ideas about the bass parts, even though he never had before. And yes, David would be changing a few piano parts. More than anything else, Elvis had a bunch of new stories he couldn't wait to share with us.

the room to meet us. We were introduced as "Putt and David, the greatest bass player, the greatest piano player in the world!" He went on to say, "Putt was the one who played that great bass part on 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me,' and you remember the great piano intro on 'Love Letters'?"
... In the next minute or two, Pachucki led Priscilla out of the control room and into the large cavernous studio, explaining how he would arrange the room for this important Presley overdub session. With Priscilla gone, Elvis seized the opportunity to apologize for the charade, but begged us to please play along. "You know I love this woman dearly, but I wouldn't ever want her to witness all the silly shenanigans that occur on a real live session," he said. We smiled and nodded our heads in quiet understanding.

Fake Elvis "Answering Machine" message released by FTD!: The promotional blurb for the recent FTD book 'Best Of British – The RCA Years 1957-1958' noted in part, "This is Elvis, with the continuation of the British story now detailing his RCA releases from 1957 - 1958. The CD included with this book features many first-time officially released Elvis tracks. Here, amongst his classic songs, are the songwriters’ demo recordings as Elvis first heard them, plus the message he recorded on his home answer machine!"
Unfortunately it has now been revealed that Elvis' answering-machine message is a fake, edited together from The Truth About Me interview outtakes of August 22 1956. It isn't an answer phone message at all!.

Of course EIN certainly agree that the book, by Trevor Simpson, is a marvellous examination of the period and that the CD is only a bonus however this has to be a major slip-up, albeit only 16 seconds long. It has also been round for long enough for keen Elvis fans to know that it was only a fake. It starts "Hi, this is Elvis Presley" in exactly the same way as the Truth About Me.
Of course it might be OK to add it as a Bonus "joke" track but to promote it as the real deal is misleading at the very least. EIN now learns that FTD were made aware of this potential fake track as soon as the tracklisting came out but for did not think it necessary to update their promotional blurb.

Elvis’ Honeymoon 1967 Cadillac Sold for $88k: It was known as the car that Elvis Presley and Priscilla would drive around Memphis after they got married. The famous 1967 Cadillac Coupe De Ville was recently sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $88,000. Before being out for auction, Elvis Presley’s Cadillac Coupe de Ville has been part of Mike L. Moon’s private collection since 1979. It has been on display at the Elvis Presley Museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Niagara Falls ever since.
Elvis purchased this red Caddy on September 15, 1967 and it was the car he drove Priscilla with around Memphis, shortly after they were married. The bidder received copies of the original Bill of Sale, as well as the original Protect-O-Plate showing the name Elvis Presley and listing the address of Graceland. Finished in red with a black interior, the 2-door coupe comes with an 8-cylinder engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission.

Nashville RCA Studio A To Be Demolished: Nashville country music RCA Studio A that has hosted Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson looks set to be torn down to build luxury apartments - to many it is a symbol of 'old Nashville' and the city's rich musical legacy. Fans of Elvis' fans should not be thrown by this news as it is NOT the famous STUDIO B where Elvis, (Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison etc) recorded their classic material. Studio B is still open for tours and has a truly stunning ambience.
Pianist Ben Folds has fought an energetic campaign to save Studio A but he has bowed out after the rent was more then doubled.
The rather nondescript RCA Studio A in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, has been visited by a host of country stars including Willie Nelson, the Beach Boys and Dolly Parton.
Various news stories report that...
A) Elvis recorded in Studio A - this is not the case as Elvis' classics were recorded in the smaller, more intimate Studio B.

B) The studios were constructed in 1965 at the request of Chet Atkins, who was originally looking for a place to track string parts for Elvis Presley's gospel albums. However Elvis' 1966 Gospel Album was recorded in Studio B and featured no orchestral overdubs.
However, not everybody in the creative industry is opposed to closing the doors of the recording studio. In an open letter, acclaimed country guitar player Harold Bradley - a former owner of RCA Studio A - rebuked anyone willing to stand in the way of progress. 'What makes a place historic?' he asked. 'The architecture of the Nashville sound was never brick and mortar. Certainly, there are old studio spaces that, in our imaginations, ring with sonic magic; but in truth, it's not the room, it's the music. The architecture of Nashville's evolving sound is a synergy of creative energy. That's still here, and it has nothing to do with this building."

Barbra Streisand - with Elvis - Makes Chart History: Barbra Streisand's new duets album "Partners" has entered the Billboard 200 chart at number one, making her the only recording artist in history to have a number one release in six consecutive decades.
Streisand is the best-selling female recording artist in history. She is the only woman to make the All-Time Top 10 Best Selling Artists list, an honor which includes fellow duet "Partners" Elvis Presley and Billy Joel. She also now has the longest span of number one albums in history; just under 50 years.

Elvis Presley & Roger Moore ‘Haunted’ – New Movie Short: This has been kicking around since 2011 but it is an amusing watch for a lazy weekend. Combining footage of Roger Moore from 1970’s 'The Man Who Haunted Himself and Elvis in ‘Live A Little Love A Little’ this fan-made movie by Natasha Rostov and Alexander Elvis is a fun thriller and clever mix. It is surprising how so much of the footage seems to match.
The story is "James Penlowe (Roger Moore) leads an ordinary life, but his past catches up to him when he gets a mob hitman Greg Nolan (Elvis Presley) on his tail."

(Book Review) Elvis and Ginger: It has been 37 years in the making but finally, Elvis' fiancee and last love, Ginger Alden, has released her account of their relationship.
The picture Ginger paints of Elvis is a predominately positive one. She had concerns about his reliance of medications and his temper, but she also shows the warmth of Elvis Presley and that he wasn’t always withdrawn or emotionally down. Elvis laughed, talked, read books, played racquetball and had fun!
That said, release of her memoir has elicited an emotionally charged debate and divided some fans.

(Book Review) Memphis Mafia Princess: Shirley Dieu's memoir of her years inside Elvis' inner circle is one of two new books (the other being Ginger Alden's release, Elvis and Ginger).
Fan reaction to Memphis Mafia Princess has been a strongly positive one and, as EIN's Nigel Patterson recently discovered on reading Ms Dieu's memoir, rightly so.

While the release is a positive affirmation of Shirley's experience with Joe Esposito (her partner for almost 5 years) and Elvis, it is balanced with insightful observations about Elvis, others in his life and a number of important incidents, one of which is particularly confronting and raises serious questions about the conduct of several of the Memphis Mafia.

New Footage of August 19 1975: Recently posted on YouTube is some pretty good quality fan footage synced with sound from Elvis' 1975 Las Vegas Summer Season August 19 Dinner Show.
This was the season where despite poor health Elvis introduced the positive idea of a Request Box for audience song choices. The footage shows Elvis struggling on to entertain his faithful audience and having some fun at the same time.
It is worth watching especially the fun 'My Boy' and Elvis' VERY LAST performance of 'Suspicious Minds'.
However bear in mind Elvis' poor health. Sadly Linda Thompson summed it up so well noting that.."Elvis didn't even realise himself how bad he was at the time" and sadly it was a huge step down from his closing July 75 tour shows.

'Elvis We'll Remember You" OUT NOW: The new photobook 'Elvis We'll Remember You" by Ed Bonja, produced by the Elvis Fan Club of Finland, is out now.
The hard cover coffee table book has 176 pages and it is lavishly illustrated. Text is both in English and in Finnish. Ginger Alden: To begin with it was hard for me to realise that I was his girlfriend. But in time I got a little used to the fact that Elvis and I were a couple. But in the beginning I respected his privacy. I thought he was a busy man and I don't want to just pick up the phone. But we had exchanged numbers and over time, I felt more comfortable with it.
Ginger: Even towards the end there were so many things he was looking forward to. He wanted to do a more serious film. There was a film called "The Mission" that he told me about one evening and we went to his attic and he looked through a box to look for the script. Elvis was always searching why he was what he was and it kind of paralleled his life and what he was trying to do through his music and bringing joy to others. He wanted to play Europe.

He told me he wanted us to get married. He wanted to have more children.
Elvis was the happiest when he put a smile on someone else's face. He didn't have a lot when he was growing up and he was just the most big-hearted man I've ever met.

Jimmy Velvet Health Issues: There have been rumours going around on other websites suggesting that Elvis' friend Jimmy Velvet is gravely ill.
While it is true that he was misdiagnosed for a skin cancer a while ago, there is a good hope that it can be removed.
As always everyone associated with EIN sends Jimmy their very Best Wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Jimmy Velvet at one time owned the largest Elvis memorabilia collection in the world before eventually selling his collection. His life and all the musicians he has met over the years is a truly amazing story.
Jimmy Velvet is a lovely man and EIN was lucky enough to share some time and fascinating stories with him.

"Streets of San Francisco" Staring Elvis?: This story was noted on the FECC message board back in 2007, but has recently been picked up again. The "Elvis" episode of the old TV series 'Streets of San Francisco' featuring a young Michael Douglas has been getting YouTube hits again. Mentioned in Elvis Monthly at the time, the episode featured Elvis co-star Bill Bixby (Clambake, Speedway) and featured all sort of Elvis characters in the story. The screenplay was written by Elvis acquaintance Rick Husky. Called 'Target : Red' it was first shown in September 1974.
Bill Bixby plays hitman Jerry Schilling, there is also a character called General Red West, an FBI agent called Vernon Presley and sidekicks Sonny and Lamar.
Guest stars: Byron Morrow (Vernon Presley), (Nurse), David McLean (Captain), Bill Bixby (Jerry Schilling), Andrew Duggan (Major General 'Red' West), Linda Marsh (Myrna Schilling), Bret Morrison (Lamar Fisk).
At the time Rick Husky was supposedly pitching a screenplay for what he hoped might be Elvis' movie comeback - Was this a version of that script or was he trying to show Elvis and Parker what he could do.

Ginger Alden on the NBC Today Show: Ginger Alden "Elvis Presley’s final love" joined the NBC Today show to publicise her much-anticipated memoir “Elvis & Ginger”. In the interview she discusses what Elvis was like in his final days. She also notes that Elvis wasn't as overweight as some thought he was.. "He would oversalt his food, and at times he would appear bloated on camera. But he was never fat. I thought he was a handsome man; he just wasn't 20 anymore."
She also showed her engagement ring and talked about the dreadful final night as well as the "sleep packets" prescribed for his chronic insomnia.

EIN realises that EPE no doubt want to own the planes so as to "cut-out the middle man" and increase their base profits. We guess that EPE thought they would be the only definite buyers and would be offering less than seller K.G. Coker wanted. So it makes business sense for him to put them up for sale to anyone, if only to scare EPE to a higher price.

After both the Graceland auction and the high prices being demanded by EPE for the new Hotel (see news story below), EIN can see his logic in pushing for a better price.
After all, if new owners ABG want the big spenders as part of their Elvis "clients", then EPE/ABG suppliers will be thinking they should spend big in return!

Elvis Planes Now Up For Sale: Elvis Presley’s last two jets, the 'Lisa Marie' and 'Hound Dog II' are now up for sale.
The four-engine “Lisa Marie” features a queen-size bed, gold bathroom fixtures, a videotape system with four TVs and a stereo system with 52 speakers, according to the sales advert.
It states "Accepting Serious Offers For Purchase Option, As A Package Of Two Aircraft Previously Owned By Elvis Presley. For Display Only, Not Airworthy For Flight!"
The tail section on the 1960 Convair 880 features Presley’s trademark “TCB” — for “Taking Care of Business” — and a color scheme personally chosen by Elvis.

plane, flown while “Lisa Marie” was remodeled to suit Elvis’ tastes, the ad said.
These planes represent the epitome of 1975 rock star luxury, but if you buy them don’t expect to fly them.
“They’re both museum pieces,” said K.G. Coker, the Memphis man who bought them after Presley’s 1977 death. They’ve not been flown since they were parked at the tourist entrance to Presley’s Graceland mansion in 1984.
Coker’s ad doesn’t set a price, but it he is looking for “serious offers.”
Millions of Elvis fans have peered into the planes as part of the Graceland tour, with Coker getting a cut of the ticket proceeds, but his agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises has expired. He’s looking for a buyer because his agreement with and negotiations to keep them at Graceland have failed, leaving the jets’ future up in the air.
Fans erupted in protest when a news report in July said Elvis Presley Enterprises sent a letter to Coker asking him to move the planes from Graceland Plaza, across Elvis Presley Boulevard from the singer’s famous home by next year.
Priscilla Presley, the singer’s former wife and mother of his daughter Lisa Marie, tried to ease fan fears in a tweet on July 2: “Please calm down, we’re in the midst of negotiations. It’s as simple as that.”
A spokesman for EPE last week stated that negotiations were still going on, but Coker declined to comment on the process.

'Elvis: That's The Way It Is' Deluxe Edition: After weeks of speculation Sony/RCA/Legacy officially announce the release of monumental definitive edition of "Elvis: That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition)" presented together for the first time ever in a Deluxe Box Set (8CD/2DVD). Available on August 5, 2014.
The CD selection is exactly as EIN predicted with two concerts being officially released for the very first time.

That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) is the most ambitious Elvis Presley restoration package ever created, bringing together - for the first time ever - the album, the theatrical and home video versions of the film, six full-length concerts (featuring previously unreleased performances), rehearsal highlights and other rare recordings in one astounding and essential package. The result of an historic partnership between Sony and Warner Brothers, the deluxe set combines the video and audio assets of Elvis: That’s The Way It Is with unique and previously unreleased material. |

The highly-collectible That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition), bonuses include unreleased material, remixed and remastered audio and a new 80-page book detailing the entire event with facts, songwriter and musician interviews, and photos in a deluxe 8CD/2DVD box set.
Originally released on RCA Records in November 1970, Elvis: That's The Way It Is combined eight studio tracks, recorded in Nashville, and four live concert performances recorded in Las Vegas during Presley's 1970 "Summer Festival" season at The International Hotel in Las Vegas to create one of Elvis' best albums.
On July 14, rehearsals for the movie and live shows commenced at the MGM lot in Culver City, California. The Hollywood cameras rolled for five different rehearsals prior to the opening night on August 10. Unquestionably, Elvis was keen to broaden his repertoire for the film,as more than 60 songs were attempted during the period, far more than the usual average of 20 to 25 that would normally be chosen. Over the four nights filmed by MGM, Elvis and his band worked tirelessly, trying out a broad variety of musical styles, emphasizing his desire to share the wide range of music he loved with his audience. Director Denis Sanders captured the end result magnificently, providing fans throughout the world with their first glimpse of the new contemporary Elvis performing at the peak of his vocal prowess both in rehearsal and on the stage.
'That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition)' centers on the SIX complete shows recorded and partially filmed by MGM. Two of the shows are released for the first time in their entirety. |

The original RCA album is expanded with the four single sides from the period, and a selection of “fly-on-the-wall” outtakes from the June Nashville sessions that produced the majority of tracks for the album. Completing the audio section, a separate disc of insightful rehearsal highlights, featuring unusual song selections showcases both the hard work and the playful atmosphere that governed Elvis’ relationship with his musicians.
That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) puts the original RCA album and the 1970 MGM documentary feature together in a single package for the first time. It includes the previously released original theatrical DVD version (1970) and the re-edited and extended DVD version from 2000.
(EIN note: What a shame not one scrap of new footage has been included. This would have been the perfect place and presumably indicates that there will never be an official release of any more MGM filmed material).
